Product Information

The product is the OnCloud Tape Ruban OnCloud, a 24V LED Driver Bloc d’alimentation. It includes a 2.1 DC Jack Jack CC 2.1 and a Power feed Alimentation LED-HWB-DC21-6-PF. The product also features a High-Power OnCloud Adapter Adaptateur OnCloud Haute Puissance.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. 1. **Linking & Extending DC lines:** DC cables can be extended using LV cable. The total extended lengths added to the system between the driver and the end of the tape must not exceed the values shown in the table below.
Wire Gauge Maximum Wire Distance
20 AWG 8 ft/pi (2.4m)
18 AWG 11 ft/pi (3.4m)
16 AWG 18 ft/pi (5.5m)
14 AWG 29 ft/pi (8.8m)
12 AWG 46 ft/pi (14.0m)
10 AWG 74 ft/pi (22.6m)
  1. Extrusion Installation: Mount the provided mounting clips to install the OnCloud Adapter and tape.

  2. Best Practices:

  3. Avoid placing the first and last sections of tape adjacent to
each other. For longer runs of tape, install the driver and OnCloud Adapter
in the middle, splitting the long run of tape in half to minimize voltage drop.

  4. Avoid powering on the tape while still on the reel to prevent overheating.

  5. Install the OnCloud Adapter or High Power OnCloud Adapter as close to the tape as possible and in an area with good 2.4GHz Wi-Fi coverage.

  6. For wet location installation, do not cut the tape and make all electrical connections in an appropriate enclosure.

  7. Installation steps for OnCloud Tape connectors: When installing OnCloud Tape with additional connections, including the use of the powerfeed, I-connector, and Jumper connector, follow the steps provided to ensure correct connection and continuous power with all color channels working.

NOTE
Power feed connector, extension connector, and tape may have some variances in wire colors, always confi rm markings on the tape and OnCloud Adapters before connecting.

EXTRUSION INSTALLATION

  1. Mount provided mounting clips to desired surface, install clips 70cm / 28″ from each other.
  2. Ensure extrusion surface is clean and free of any debris or residue (Optional: clean inside of the extrusion channel with rubbing alcohol for maximum adhesion).
  3. Remove protective backing and attach the tape to the extrusion.
  4. Add lens to extrusion by pushing in or sliding from the side. After lens has been installed, align extrusion with mounting clips and push-in until secured, then connect the tape wires with the OnCloud adapter.

NOTE: OnCloud adapter may be mounted on any surface using Velcro or double sided tape surface, it’s low profi le allows it to stay hidden behind the extrusion.

BEST PRACTICES

  1. Avoid the fi rst and last sections of tape being adjacent.
  2. For longer runs of tape, install the driver and OnCloud Adapter in the middle splitting the long run of tape in half to minimize voltage drop.
  3. Avoid powering on the tape while still on the reel to avoid overheating.
  4. Install the OnCloud Adapter or High Power OnCloud Adapter as close to the tape as possible and in an area that has good 2.4GHz Wi-Fi coverage.
  5. For wet location installation, do not cut the tape and make all electrical connections in an appropriate enclosure.

Installation steps for OnCloud Tape connectors
When installing OnCloud Tape with additional connections including the use of the powerfeed, I-connector, and Jumper connector, you will need to follow the below steps to ensure the connection is made correctly to have continuous power with all color channels working.

  1. 1. Using a sharp utility knife, score the tape backing paper 6-7mm up from the end and remove the backing paper along with the clear adhesive.
  2. If copper pads are not already exposed below the 3M adhesive, scrape the back of the tape until you have exposed all copper connection points. This will take approximately 1.5-2 minutes depending on pressure.
  3. You can now insert the tape at a 45-degree angle into the connection clip.
  4. Close the clip, then gently push and pull the tape to ensure connection points are made. Test tape before installing.
