Product Information
- The Stainless Steel Spillways are designed to create a smooth and beautiful sheet of water in a water feature. They are made of high-quality stainless steel with a brushed finish, giving them a sleek and modern appearance. The spillways have a baffle system that helps to regulate the water flow and maintain a clean sheet of water.
- To keep the spillways looking their best, regular maintenance is required. A stainless steel cleaner should be used for cleaning brushed-finish surfaces. The unit comes with a cleaning pad that can be used with CLR (Calcium, Lime, and Rust Remover) as well. It is important not to use steel wool or steel brushes for cleaning, as they may leave iron or other particles embedded in the stainless steel, which can cause issues in the future.
- For added protection against corrosion, we offer a product called ProtectaClear. This clear coating is specifically designed for stainless steel and provides excellent adhesion, keeping the spillways looking new and preventing corrosion.
Product Usage Instructions
Installation:
- We recommend installing the spillways 42 inches or lower from the surface of the water to maintain a clean sheet of water. While they can be installed higher, the water may start to break up after this point.
- Ensure that the proper water flow is allocated to the unit. Exceeding the recommended water flow can cause damage to the unit’s baffle system. We recommend having a valve in place for each unit and slowly increasing the water flow until a clean sheet of water is achieved.
Maintenance:
- To clean the spillways’ brushed-finish surfaces, use a stainless steel cleaner and a soft cloth. The included cleaning pad can be used with CLR as well.
- Avoid using steel wool or steel brushes for cleaning, as they can leave iron or other particles embedded in the stainless steel, which may cause issues in the future.
Additional Protection:
If you want to provide extra protection against corrosion, consider
applying ProtectaClear, our stainless steel corrosion-resistant coating. This
clear coating product is specifically designed for stainless steel and offers
excellent adhesion.
Maintenance
- This feature is stain’less’ steel, not stain proof, so it will require regular maintenance, as with all stainless steel products – appliances, barbecue etc.
- For brushed-finish surfaces that require cleaning, use stainless steel cleaner and a soft cloth. The cleaning pad included with the unit can be used with CLR, as well.
- Do not use steel wool or steel brushes to clean as the iron or other particles can become embedded in the stainless steel causing issues in the future
Installation
- When installing these units, have the lip extend minimum ½” beyond your wall to prevent water from touching the wall. You can have the lip extend further than this if you wish. For the open top units it is best to have a minimum ¼” clearance above the units to prevent water from touching the stone as well as clearance for lighting wire, if included.
- We recommend all spillways be installed 42”, or lower, from the surface of the water to maintain a clean sheet of water. These units can be installed higher, but the water may begin to breakup after this point.
- Please ensure the proper water flow is allocated to the unit. By exceeding the recommended water flow, damage could be incurred to the unit’s baffle system. We recommend having a valve in place for each unit and slowly increasing water flow until a clean sheet of water is achieved.
- The stainless steel spillways do not ‘push’ water out with increased water flow – these units are designed to have a clean sheet of water fall from the lip – projection of water is usually less than 4” from the unit’s lip.
- It is recommended to have the wall stone supported from either side of the unit or to utilize a lintel to support upper stone work.
- Additional PVC fittings will be required to install these units (available upon request). Every installation will vary, therefore we are able to quote your fittings accordingly.
