INGROUND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to adhere to these instructions may result in water ingress, luminaire
failure and void the Halcyon 5 year warranty. Please read carefully.

To prevent voltage drop over a circuit total luminaire wattage plus voltage drop over the length of a cable run and cable gauge must be taken into account.

Always try to use a Constant Voltage Driver which is double the total circuit wattage.

Multistrand UV protected flex should be utilised for all exterior 24V DC CV circuits.

Luminaire front faces are all electropolished 316 grade Stainless Steel.

All installation work must be carried out by a registered electrician.
OPTION A
Conduit Drainage
Install over a drained substrate and install conduit drains to effectively
dissipate all water from base of housing (50mm+ conduit, see diagram). Conduit
drains must be set with appropriate fall so water drains effectively. Drains
should have exposed ends so water e.g. drain into nearby garden. After
concrete has been poured ensure drains are free of debris, fill with water to
test effectiveness of drainage.
DO NOT relv on iust the cable entry/exit conduit as a drainage point, this will only cause problems at the lowest lying luminaire.
OPTION B
- Drained Substrate with Drain coil When install environment does not allow for conduit drainage system, install inground housing over a drained substrate (e.g. scoria) with drain coil underneath (see diagram below).
- DO NOT install housing directly over compacted fine grade gravel or clay/dirt, this will result in poor drainage and the inground housing will flood with water.
INSTALL TIPS
There are two basic rules for a successful inground installation.
- Prevent water coming into the top of the housing with good seal between housing and base.
- Allow for water to effectively drain outwards from base of the housing with pre-prepared drainage.
If you fail to address one or both of these points, you will have water pooling in the base of the housing and the luminaire/cable joins may be constantly submersed. Inground luminaires are rated to IP67 so are only protected for short periods of immersion in water, constant immersion will cause water ingress and luminaire failure.
Take extra care when setting heights of install housing, top lip of housing
should sit perfectly flush with finished concrete level.
This way, when luminaire is installed the underside of the front trim will
seal effectively against the housing and prevent excess water entering the
housing. If the housing sits slightly under concrete finished level, when
inground is installed the rim will not seal against the housing and water will
ingress through the gap between underside of rim and inground housing. A poor
seal will generally allow a greater volume of water than the drainage under
the housing can dissipate, resulting in constant submersion and failure.
Ensure clear communication with concrete layers / site manager to avoid them
compromising your set up work during concrete pour.
CABLE JOINS
Always use IP68 resin joins or IP67 connectors. For joins which are not
IP68/67 or have exposed junctions moisture may enter the luminaire tracking up
the cable as the fitting heats and cools. DO NOT use heat shrink to seal an
in-line 3-way join. Water will ingress the join in-between the two parallel
cables.
