Dynamic Weighing System for Loaders
COMPULOAD – Weigh Better – Load With Confidence
BASIC WEIGHING AND TOTALISING
The Compuload CL5000 is designed to weigh the load in the bucket / forks of a Front End Loader. This system has been set up to weigh in a Dynamic Weighing Method (as the load is raised). The Compuload CL5000 has been calibrated using LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION. This means that the CL5000 will weigh the load accurately at any engine RPM (within the calibration settings). The CL5000 will weigh the load as the bucket is raised PAST the LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH.
Basic Weighing –
- Before weighing the CL5000 should be checked to ensure that the EMPTY BUCKET is reading ZERO.
- With the bucket empty and fully crowded, raise the bucket up through the LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH at a smooth steady lifting speed. Keep lifting until the word HELD appears in the top left hand corner of the display. If the reading is other than 0.00 (zero), press ZERO (F4) for two seconds to zero display.
- Apply the load and raise the loaded bucket up through the LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH at a smooth steady lifting speed. Keep lifting until the word HELD appears in the top left hand corner of the display. Then the weight will be displayed for a predetermined period (usually 10 seconds)
- Press the LOAD key (F5), or the REMOTE LOAD BUTTON (if fitted) to add the weight into the TOTAL and SUB TOTAL.
NOTE: – The CL5000 can also be set to automatically accumulate the weights as the load is raised. For AUTOMATIC TOTALISING press the TRIG button (F1), select HOLDS & ADDS using the UP / DOWN direction arrows. Press FUNC to save and return to the main page. AUTOMATIC TOTALISING has now been set. Repeat process to return to MANUAL TOTALISING, by choosing HOLDS ONLY in the menu.
- Once the required TOTAL has been reached, a short press of the CLR (F3) button will reset the SUB TOTAL only, and the TOTAL remains. A long press of the CLR (F3) button will reset both the SUB TOTAL and the TOTAL. This is used if loading trucks with more than one trailer.
NOTE:- If a bucket has been added into the TOTAL and you wish to subtract and reweigh that bucket , press the ESC button within the 10 seconds to UNDO.
TIPS FOR ACCURATE WEIGHING :-
Whilst the Compuload CL5000 is designed to weigh loads as the machine is operated and the load is lifted some conditions may cause variations to the weight readings. Results can generally be improved by using care whilst weighing.
-
Lift the load at YOUR NORMAL speed through the lift sensor. Start the Lift from near ground level. Maintain a smooth steady lift until a weight reading is obtained and HELD is displayed on the screen.
-
Open lifting valve fully to raise the load (ie: – pull the lever right back)
-
Whilst weighing have loader on a level surface
-
Avoid excessive bounce on rough surfaces whilst weighing.
-
Regularly check the zero.
-
Not all loaders can weigh loads whilst the loader is in gear and moving along the ground.
Different conditions may cause irregular readings. Establish the weight in the bucket by doing 5-10 lifts with a bucket of material whilst stationary. Then attempt to weigh whilst in gear and moving. Then determine if the weights are within your accuracy requirements. -
To reduce the level of TYRE BOUNCE, activate the lift lever before introducing engine RPM.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE
The following options are available to the operator if required and as
required.
HOT KEYS –
Across the top of the keypad is the F1 – F5 Hot Keys. These keys allow quick
and easy access to the main Operator Related Functions.
F1 – TRIG – This function allows the operator to change the action of the
LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH. Press the F1 key once, the display will show
SET EXTERNAL TRIGGER. Use the UP / DOWN direction keys to alter – then press

will be NO action from the display when the arms are raised. The display will
show IDLE in the top right hand corner when this function is set.
HOLDS ONLY – The loaded bucket will be weighed after it has been raised
passed the LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH, but will not accumulate into the
TOTALS until the LOAD Button or the EXTERNAL LOAD BUTTON (if fitted) is
pressed.
HOLDS & ADDS – The loaded bucket will be weighed will automatically
accumulate into the TOTALS after the arms have been raised past the LIFT SPEED
COMPENSATION SWITCH.
F2 – PRINT – This function allows the Printer (if fitted) to be turned ON
/ OFF / COPY. Press the F2 key once, the display will show SET PRINTER MODE.
Use the UP/ DOWN direction keys to alter and then the FUNC key to save.
F3 – CLR – This function allows the SUB TOTAL and the TOTAL to be

seconds) will clear the TOTAL. Used for example, when loading a truck and
trailer combination or road train.
F4 – ZERO – This button is used to ZERO the empty bucket before loading.
Before weighing the CL5000 should be checked to ensure that the EMPTY BUCKET
is reading ZERO. With the bucket empty and fully crowded, raise the bucket up
through the LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH at a smooth steady lifting speed.
Keep lifting until the word HELD appears in the top right hand corner of the
display. If the reading is other than 0.00 (zero), press ZERO (F4) for two
seconds to zero display.
F5 – LOAD – This button is used to accumulate the bucket weights if the
LIFT SPEED COMPENSATION SWITCH is set to HOLDS ONLY. When a loaded bucket has

-
Commence loading trailer (scale will work automatically).
-
Getting correct weight for last bucket load whilst at the stockpile:-

2. Crowd bucket, then weight bucket watching the TOTAL weight only, remember this weight, press “ESC” to UNDO this weight. Adjust bucket load if required. Repeat 2 until correct weight is in bucket and you have pressed “ESC” after the last weighing at stockpile. Lower bucket and drive to truck.
3. Elevate bucket to load truck. (note: by using “ESC” in (2) the bucket has not been double weighed as you load truck with the last bucket). -
