Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Assembling the Drive Ring

  1. Fix all spoke clamps to the spokes by pulling the clamp from the wheel rim towards the hub over the screws.
  2. Slide all the spoke clamps onto the spokes. The clamps should snap into place under the bolt heads.
  3. Tighten the bolts slightly, so that the clamp cannot jump down but is still loose. The ring must still be able to slide on the wheel to center it.

Step 2: Attaching the Frame Bracket

  1. Fix the frame bracket to the upper seat stay using an Allen key size 4.
  2. The ideal distance to the center of the axle is 21.5 cm – 22.5 cm. Choose the appropriate screw length.
  3. Ensure there is sufficient distance between the lever and plastic ring, at least 1 cm.
  4. Mount the torque arm perpendicular to the wheel for a perfect fit.
  5. Tighten the screws with approximately 3 Nm, taking extreme caution with carbon frames.

Step 3: Centering the Drive Ring

  1. Use a cable tie to finally center the drive ring attached to the swing arm.
  2. Place the cable tie on the ring and check the concentricity of the ring.
  3. Bring the belt ring into the correct position by pressing or lightly tapping it with a blunt object.
  4. Check concentricity by turning the wheel and repeat the process until centering is as precise as possible (less than 1mm is sufficient).

Step 4: Mounting the Motor

  1. Hook in the lower rollers of the motor and then the upper rollers.
  2. The groove of the upper rollers should hang on the rail of the drive ring.
  3. Push the lower rollers upwards slightly using a size 4 Allen key and tighten them firmly.

Step 5: Adjusting the Drive Unit

To ensure the motor does not hang on the gear wheel, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the pinion guard using an Allen key size 3.
  2. Remove the pinion using an Allen key size 4.
  3. Turn the drive unit by means of 3 screws.

Needed tools

  • Allen key size 2,5
  • Allen key size 3
  • Allen key size 4
  • TX 20 screwdriver
  • Pocket rule
  • Side cutter
  • Cable tie

Assembly

  • Put the bicycle on an assembly stand or turn it upside down.
  • Remove the rear wheel and place the drive ring centrally.
  • Every spoke is between two screws.
  • Depending on the number of spokes you have to assemble the appropriate ring.
    • 36 spokes –> 18 clamps
    • 32 spokes –> 16 clamps
    • 28 spokes –> 14 clamps

Caution: The drive ring is always assembled on the left side Fix all spoke clamps to the spokes. Pull the clamp from the wheel rim towards the hub over the screws.

  • Slide all the spoke clamps onto the spokes.
  • The clamps snap into place under the bolt heads.
  • Tighten the bolts a little, so that the clamp can no longer jump down but is still loose.
  • The ring must still be able to slide on the wheel to centre it.
  • Fix the frame bracket to the upper seat stay (Allen key size 4).
  • The ideal distance to the centre of the axle is 21.5 cm – 22.5 cm.
  • Please choose the appropriate screw length.
    • Note: There should be sufficient distance between lever and plastic ring, at least 1 cm.
  • The torque arm must be mounted perpendicular to the wheel so that everything fits perfectly. Fix the screws with approx. 3 Nm.
    • Caution: Extreme caution is required with carbon frames. Tighten the screws carefully not to endanger the material.
    • Note: Here there is the possibility to have a seat stay adapter made according to the sketch of the seat stay.
  • Reinstall the rear wheel. Make sure that the wheel can be turned easily and that no brake cable or anything else is rubbing against the belt ring.
  • A cable tie is used to finally center the drive ring attached to the swing arm, place it on the ring and check the concentricity of the ring.
  • The belt ring is brought into the correct position by pressing or lightly tapping it with a blunt object. Check concentricity again and again by turning the wheel.
  • Repeat the process until centering is as precise as possible. (less than 1mm is sufficient)
  • Carefully tighten the first screws to prevent them from slipping.
  • Then screw in the remaining screws.
  • Tighten the T-key with 2 fingers (max. 1.5 Nm). Check all screws again.
  • When mounting the motor, first hook in the lower rollers and then the upper rollers. The groove of the upper rollershangs on the rail of the drive ring.
  • The lower rollers are then pushed upwards with a size 4 allen slightly and tighten them firmly.

Wrong position!

  • So that the motor does not hang on the gear wheel as in the picture, you can turn the drive unit by means of 3 screws.
  • First you remove the pinion guard with an Allen key size 3 and then the pinion with an Allen key size 4.
  • With a TX20 screwdriver, you can remove the 3 screws. Loosen half a turn and then turn the guide plate.
  • In the desired position, the screws should be tightened with approx. 3 Nm.
  • The optimal position of the drive is as shown here in the picture.
  • To retrofit 26” wheels, the motor should be turned completely towards the swingarm, so that there is enough place to the rim.
    • Caution: Turn the motor only so far that the “fan” does not touch the upper guide pulley!
  • With 26 “wheels the fan of the motor may have to be dismantled because the space between the rim and the motor is too little. To do this, unscrew the 4 plastic screws and remove the fan from the  rotor
    • Note: The fan only serves as “cooling support” and does not necessarily have to be installed.
  • Use an Allen key size 4 to move the torque arm so that the holding rod fits between them.
  • Then tighten the screws well (approx. 3Nm)
  • The fastening bolt is screwed into the torque arm with an Allen key size 4. Don’t forget the handrail!
    • Note: Tighten the fastening bolt “hand-tight”. (approx. 2 Nm) The fastening bolt is “hollow” – if the tightening torque is too high,  it can break
  • The display for the battery status is attached to the frame with the Velcro tape supplied with the unit.
  • The cable is then laid along the frame with the Velcro cable ties to the drive unit.
  • Red plug to red socket.
  • The thumb lever will be mounted in the desired location on thehandlebars with an Allen key size 3 and laid down along the frame towards the bottom bracket/drive unit.
  • Make sure that a loop has to be laid for the steering angle as with the other lines.
  • Yellow plug to yellow socket.
  • There is also an optional twist grip, which is always mounted on the right side of the handlebar with a Allen key size 3.
  • The cables are laid as in the previous point.
  • Connect the plugs from the thumb lever and the indicator to the drive.
  • Red to red and yellow to yellow
    • Caution: When the battery is plugged in, do not plug in or unplug the thumb lever / twist grip!
  • Then lay the cable for the battery along the frame to the saddle and fix it with the enclosed Velcro strips.
    • Caution: While driving, make sure that the cable does not interfere in any way, nor touch any moving parts, especially when your seat is low positioned.
  • This completes the assembly of the motor.
  • The cable from the drive is passed between the legs andconnected to the battery cable.
  • After approx. 5 seconds the drive is active.
  • It should always be ensured that the plug is firmly connected!
  • If you fall or get off the bike, the connection is disconnected for safety reasons.
  • By lightly pressing the thumb lever, the engine starts.
    • Attention: If you pedal and accelerate at the same time, the front wheel could rise unintentionally

BATTERY USE

  • Battery full – have a good trip!
Note: The battery should be fully charged before the first trip!

  • Battery half full keep an eye on it!

  • Battery almost empty – please charge!

  • The Powerkit automatically regulates the power down when the battery level is below 20%.

USING THE CHARGER

  • The charger is connected to a socket with the power plug and then the yellow plug is connected to the battery.
  • The red LED on the charger lights up – charging is in progress If the battery is completely discharged, it takes approx. 3 hours until the battery is full again.
  • The green LED on the charger lights up – charging completed /battery charged
  • The battery can now be removed.
  • For longer storage it is recommended to bring the battery to approx. 50% charge level.
