Product Information

The IColorTM Dye Sublimation Residue Removal Instructions are specifically designed for use with IColorTM Dye Sublimation Toner Kits. The kit includes the necessary tools to prevent and remove polymer residue from hard surfaces.

**Preventing Residue Transfer

**

To prevent the transfer of toner residue to hard surfaces during the pressing process, it is recommended to use the IColorTM Subli-Clean transparent dye sublimation roll for hard surfaces. This roll is 8.5 inches wide and 100 feet long. The product code for this roll is SUBLICLEAN.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Unroll and cut a piece of SubliClean slightly larger than the size of the substrate.
  2. Lay the SubliClean flat on the substrate.
  3. Cover the SubliClean with the printed transfer sheet.
  4. Press the substrate as instructed.
  5. Allow the SubliClean to cool and solidify before peeling it off.
  6. Discard the used SubliClean; do not reuse it.
  7. Do not use SubliClean on fabrics or garments; it is only intended for use on hard surfaces.
  8. The result will be a brighter and glossier image on your substrate.

**Removing Residue

**

To remove the polymer residue left behind on hard surfaces after sublimation, use the IColorTM Sublimation Toner cleaner. This cleaner comes in a 9oz bottle, and its product code is STC9. Please note that if you plan to work with hard surfaces, it is recommended to order either SubliClean or a bottle of STC9 along with your Dye Sublimation kit.

IColor™ Dye Sublimation Residue Removal Instructions

Specifically for IColor™ Dye Sublimation Toner Kits

The IColor™ Dye Sublimation Upgrade Kit is just one of the many specialty cartridge sets that can be used in most IColor™ Transfer Media Printers. Instantly transform your IColor™ printer into a dye sublimation printer. When pressing toner-based sublimation prints onto hard surfaces, polymer residue can transfer over to the substrate (especially when darker or denser graphics are used), which can have a dulling effect. It may therefore be necessary to either remove it once transferred or prevent the residue from transferring at all.

Preventing the polymer residue from transferring over to hard surfaces:
Use IColor™ Subli-Clean transparent dye sublimation roll for hard surfaces (8.5 in x 100 ft roll) Uninet Part # SUBLICLEAN
For most hard surfaces, the use of UNINET™ SubliClean film will prevent toner residue from transferring to the substrate during the pressing process. SubliClean is available in rolls, and is used in between the substrate and the printed transfer.

  1. Unroll and cut a piece of SubliClean slightly larger than the size of the substrate.
  2. Lay it flat on the substrate, then cover with the printed transfer sheet.
  3. Press as stated in the instructions.
  4. Subliclean should peel cleanly once it has cooled and solidified.
  5. Discard after use, do not reuse.
  6. Not for use on fabrics or garments. Only for use on hard surfaces!
  7. The result will be a brighter, glossier image on your substrate.

Removing the polymer residue left behind on hard surfaces:
Use IColor™ Sublimation Toner cleaner for hard surfaces 9oz. Uninet Part # STC9
Instead of SubliClean, the use of STC9 cleaning solution will remove any toner residue that may have transferred.

  1. After the image has been pressed and peeled – pour a small amount of the solution onto the completed substrate and rub with a paper towel. The residue will come off rather easily.
  2. Once finished, be sure to wash off the cleaner from the substrate with soap and water before using.
  3. Not for use on fabrics or garments.
  4. The result will be a brighter, glossier image on your substrate.

Be sure to order SubliClean or a bottle of STC9 with your Dye Sublimation kit if you plan to work with hard surfaces!
