IColor 600 Window Cling Media Printing

Now you can create window cling to affix to metal, glass, plastic and more! IColor™ Window Cling media is available in a variety of sizes (letter, tabloid and banner) and in both white and clear options. These products were specifically designed to work with all IColor™ transfer printers, and will also work with many popular laser LED printers – please check with your printer manufacturer for compatibility.
White toner enabled printers are recommended for best results when using the clear cling product.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BEST RESULTS:

  1. Place the label media into the multipurpose tray of your printer.
The glossy side of this media is the print side.
    • IColor™ 650 / 600 / 500 / Most OKI Printers: Print side face up in the Multipurpose Tray
    • IColor™ 800 / 560 / 550 / 540: Print side face down in the Bypass Tray
Letter/A4 sized media should always be fed landscape when using with the IColor™ 600, 650 & 800 models. (Listed in the ProRIP as LetterLS)

  2. Printer Settings:
In the RIP software settings, choose the paper type according to the printer being used. Make sure you are working within the proper queue in the ProRIP software or Configuration if using the TransferRIP software.
Specific print modes and sizes for this media are available when using the IColor™ ProRIP software.
o Listed as ‘UNINET IColor White or Clear Window Cling’
o The page size should match the size of the paper being used (Letter, Tabloid or Banner).
o If printing banners outside the ProRIP software, a custom size may need to be set.
Otherwise, use the following settings based on the printer:
    • IColor™ 500 / 600 / Most OKI Printers: Set media type to ‘Ultra Heavy 4’ and media weight to ‘Labels’.
    • IColor™ 650: Set media type to ‘Ultra Heavy 5’ and media weight to “User Type 2’.
    • IColor™ 550 / 540 / 800: Set paper type to ‘Thick to 220g’.
    • IColor™ 560: Set paper type to ‘Thick2 to 163g’.
AVOID MISFEEDS OR JAMS IN THE ICOLOR™ 560
Maximum print length is 14”. Do not run banner length media.

  3. When printing on the WHITE cling media, using the RIP software is not required since the use of white toner is not needed.
    • If your printer is equipped, you may print using the CMYK cartridges from your favorite graphics program.
    • If using the RIP, do not use white toner. Print either from the CMYK queue or shut off white and print with CMY (composite black).
DO NOT set the job to mirror print.

  4. When printing on the CLEAR cling material, the use of an IColor™ printer capable of white underprint and overprint is recommended.
    • Using both modes allow you to affix the clear media to either the inside or the outside of windows, both being seen clearly from the outside.

  5. For CLEAR media only, you have 3 options:
    a. Set RIP to print white as an underprint and DO NOT set the job to mirror print. Printing this way will allow you to apply the cling to an inside window and observe from the inside, or outside and observe from the outside.
    b. Set RIP to print white as an overprint and set the job to mirror print. Printing this way will allow you to apply the cling to an inside window and observe from the outside, or outside and observe from the inside.
    c. Completely black images do not require white and it is suggest to print in rich black (CMYK) or composite black (CMY) for best results.

  6. When printing on the CLEAR material, use the IColor™ TransferRIP or ProRIP Software and add 200% – 280% white underprint or overprint, especially if applying the material to clear or dark surfaces.

  7. Print the image.

  8. Cut if necessary and apply as desired.

TECH TIPS

Avoid Jams:

  • Allow your media to acclimatize – do not use the media if just delivered, especially during periods of extreme temperatures or humidity. Allow it to come to room temperature before using.
  • Do not print too close to the edges of the media. Leave a border of approximately ½” between your artwork and the edge of the media.
  • Be sure to use the suggested paper type and media type before printing.
  • Always make sure you select the media size which matches the media being used and is appropriate for your printer.
  • You cannot run the 52” length in the IColor™ 350 / 540 / 550 / 800, use the 49.6” length for these printers.
  • You cannot run banner length media at all in the IColor™ 560.

IColor™ 540/550 users only – If you are applying this media to a very dark or black substrate and the image is not vivid enough, ask your IColor™ dealer about the glossy specialty toner kit, specifically designed for underprint applications. This special toner will increase the opacity of your print and allow for more white to be printed without washing out the prints.

Optimal Humidity Level: 45% – 65%

  • Regulated with A/C, a humidifier or de-humidifier, depending on current atmospheric conditions.

Optimal Temperature Range: 50°F / 10°C – 75°F / 24°C

Use of this media outside of these recommend parameters may lead to poor results.
