Apps NIGHT OWL PROTECT App

Product Information

The product is a Wi-Fi camera designed for surveillance purposes. It offers flexible setup options, including standalone camera installation or connecting to a Night Owl recorder. The camera is compatible with different series and models, such as BTD2, BTD8, BTWN8, and WNIP2. It requires a power adapter for operation and can be controlled through the Night Owl Protect App on a smart device. The camera supports remote viewing features, but an internet connection is required for this functionality.

Product Usage Instructions

Option 1: Standalone Camera – Connecting to your Wi-Fi Network

  1. Download the Night Owl Protect App if you are a first-time user. Create an account and log in using your username and password. If you already have an account, log in with your existing credentials.
  2. In the app, tap on “Add New” or the “+” symbol to start the setup process.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps provided by the app to complete the setup.

Option 2: Add-on Camera – Connecting to your Night Owl Recorder

Note: For this option, both the Wi-Fi IP camera and the wired DVR need to be connected to the same Local Area Network (LAN).

  1. Ensure that your wired DVR has been added to your Night Owl Protect account.
  2. Power on the new Wi-Fi IP camera using the provided power adapter.
  3. Log in to the Night Owl Protect App on your smart device.
  4. Tap on your existing BTWN8 Series Wi-Fi NVR (Network Video Recorder) if applicable.
  5. Tap on “Add New” or the “+” symbol to add the new Wi-Fi IP camera.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to pair the new Wi-Fi IP camera with the Night Owl recorder.

Note: Internet connectivity is not required for pairing, but it is necessary for remote viewing features.

Option 2c: Wi-Fi NVR Setup

Note: This setup is specific to WNIP2 Series Wi-Fi NVR and compatible cameras.

  1. Power on the new Wi-Fi IP camera using the provided power adapter.
  2. Ensure that your existing WNIP2 Series Wi-Fi NVR is connected to a TV or monitor with a minimum resolution of 1080p using an HDMI cable.
  3. Using the system’s mouse, right-click on the screen and select “Startup Wizard”.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps provided by the Startup Wizard to pair the new Wi-Fi IP camera with the Wi-Fi NVR.

Please ensure to maintain a minimum distance of 8 inches between the radiator and your body during installation and operation to comply with safety regulations.

  1. First Time User? Download Night Owl Protect. Create an account and log in with your username and password. Already have an account? Log in with your username and password!
  2. Tap “Add New” or “+” and the app will guide you through the setup process.

IMPORTANT
To add a Wi-Fi IP camera to your wired DVR both devices must be connected to the same Internet (Local Area Network).

  1. Ensure your wired DVR has been added to your Night Owl Protect account.
  2. Power on your new Wi-Fi IP camera using the provided power adapter.
  3. Log in to the Night Owl Protect App from your Smart Device.
  4. Tap on “Add New” or “+” and follow the simple on-screen steps.

NOTE: Our WNIP8 Series cameras cannot be added to our BTD2 Series DVRs.

  1. Power on your new Wi-Fi IP camera using the provided power adapter.
  2. Log in to the Night Owl Protect App from your Smart Device.
  3. Tap on your existing BTWN8 Series Wi-Fi NVR.
  4. Tap on “Add New” or “+” to add your new Wi-Fi IP camera.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to pair your new Wi-Fi IP camera.

Option 2b Setup Video

NOTE: Internet is not required for pairing, but is required for remote viewing features.

Product images in setup videos may vary by model, but the setup is the same.

  1. Power on your new Wi-Fi IP camera using the provided power adapter.
  2. Ensure your existing WNIP2 Series Wi-Fi NVR is connected to a TV/Monitor (minimum 1080p resolution) via HDMI cable.
  3. Right click on the screen using your system’s mouse and then click on the “ “ Startup Wizard.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to pair your new Wi-Fi IP camera.

NOTE: Our WNIP2 Series Wi-Fi NVR is ONLY compatible with our WNIP2 Series cameras.
