Risk of swallowing
- Keep small parts, such as product, packaging and accessories, away from children and pets. They constitute a choking hazard if swallowed.
Power and connecting cable
Use only the cable we supply to connect the device for both charging and connecting to a laptop.
Using the batteries
Danger from heat, water and mechanical stress
Excessive heat, water and mechanical stress may cause explosion, heat,
fire, smoke or fumes. Injuries and irreversible damage to the battery may
result.
- Do not expose the battery (battery pack or integrated battery) to excessive heat, direct sunlight or fire.
- Do not open the housing or disassemble the battery.
- Do not use the battery if there is a risk it has come into contact with water.
Storing the battery
- If the battery is not going to be used for an extended period, set the charge level to approximately 50 % of the maximum capacity and store it at temperatures up to max. 30 °C.
Environmental conditions
- Do not expose the product to rain, snow, liquids or moisture.
ABOUT THIS MANUAL
This manual describes the most important functions of the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone. The information in this manual refers to the default settings of the software. A newer version may be available.

FIRST STEPS
Removing from packaging and storing
- When not in use and for transport, store the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone and accessories in the carrying case. This provides the best protection and prevents damage.
Securing your Personal Speakerphone
The Personal Speakerphone has a 1/4“ threaded hole in the centre of its underside, which can be used to screw it onto a tripod, for example.
Charging the battery
We recommend you use only the supplied USB cable to charge the battery.
- Use the cable supplied to connect the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone to any standard-compliant live USB-C socket (e.g. USB power adapter) via the USB-C port. If necessary, use a USB adapter (see „Scope of delivery“ on page 7).
- Remove the USB cable after charging.
Remarks on the life of Li-ion batteries
- When fully charged, disconnect the USB cable from the charging unit and the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone.
- CAUTION! High temperatures, especially with a high charge level, can cause irreversible damage.
- If the battery is not used or is stored for extended periods of time, it is recommended to charge it to approx. 50 % and store it at no more than 20 °C.
- Switch off the battery-powered product after use.
Displaying the battery charge level
- Briefly press the button once.The charge level is displayed via the LED ring.
Using the product with a USB cable connection
You can operate the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone with a PC or laptop using a USB cable connection.
- Switch on the laptop/PC.
- Connect the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speaker phone with the desired computer using the enclosed USB cable and the USB port. If necessary, use a USB adapter (USB-C to USB-A, see „Scope of delivery“ on page 7).
- If the speakerphone has not come on automatically, switch it on with the on/off switch.
LED display of charge level:
- *Red:** Battery 0–25 % full
- Green: Battery 62.5–100 % full
- Yellow: Battery 25–62.5 % full
The LED flashes when the charge level is close to zero
Using the product with Bluetooth® connection
You can operate the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone via Bluetooth® with a smartphone or PC. For this, the Bluetooth®function must be active, and the speakerphone must be paired with the output device. You can find instructions on how to operate the product under „Operation“ on page 9.
SOFTWARE UPDATE
Firmware updates are carried out via USB-HID using the beyerdynamic Update
Hub. The soft ware for updating the product can be down loaded here:

The device has a firmware update function (DFU) via USB connection to a PC
(Windows and Mac OS). During the update process, the LED ring flashes magenta.
COMPATIBILITY WITH PLAYBACK DEVICES
The beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone is compatible with Bluetooth® playback devices that support the following profiles:
- A2DP (for audio transmission)
- HFP (for phone operation)
All associated functions are only available if they are supported by the playback device.
SUPPORTED AUDIO CODECS

The beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone supports the audio codec SBC.
Note: Please note that only the Codecs available in the playback device can be used for audio transmission. -
The playback device and the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone device automatically select the best mutually available Codec: In this case SBC.
OPERATION
Switching on and off To switch on:
- Press the on/off button for 1 to 3 sec.
To switch off:
- Press the on/off button again for 1 to 3 sec.
Pairing with a device via Bluetooth®
Before you can use the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone, you must pair it with your mobile phone or another Bluetooth®-enabled device. The connection process may differ depending on the device.
- Please refer to the relevant operating instructions of the device with which you wish to pair the Personal Speakerphone.
To establish a connection:
- Ensure the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speaker phone is switched on.
- Press and hold the button for 1 to 3 sec. The Bluetooth® connection mode will start. The LED display flashes alternately blue and red.
- Activate the Bluetooth® function on the playback device and search for new devices if necessary.
- In the Bluetooth® menu of the playback device, select “SPACE” from the available devices and connect both devices.
After a successful connection, the LED lights up blue. Each time the device is switched on again, the devices will connect as soon as they are within range of each other.
Connecting with Google Fast Pair:
Android devices from Android 6.0+ enable a fast connection via Google Fast Pair.
- Start the connection to your beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone as described above. “beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone” is displayed on the connected device.
- Select “beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone”. The two devices are connected.
If the Bluetooth® connection has been lost, the LED briefly flashes blue every 2.5 sec.
Deleting the list of already connected devices:
- Press the button for longer than 10 sec. The list of already connected Bluetooth®devices (maximum eight) is deleted and a connection to the active Bluetooth®device is established.A double signal tone confirms success.
Bluetooth® connection with a USB Bluetooth® adapter
A USB Bluetooth®-Adapter is required to enable a wireless Bluetooth® connection to a laptop or desktop PC while ensuring compatibility and synchronisation of the corresponding commands from related communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams. The standard laptop and desktop PC Bluetooth®protocols do not support these commands. The USB WL Adapter (optionally available) has a pairing button to be able to connect it to a beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone. It can be stored on the underside of the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone.For more information, please refer to the operating instructions of your USB Bluetooth®adapter.

Connecting two speakerphones to form a stereo pair (for music playback)
To set up a cascade

The two SPACE devices connect via True Wireless. When the two devices are successfully paired, you will hear “cascade successful” operation.
To delete a cascade
Check that both SPACE devices are connected.
- Briefly press the button and the button simultaneously on both SPACE devices. The Bluetooth® connection between the two devices (cascading) is deleted.
Multi-point operation
The beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone can be paired with several Bluetooth®-enabled devices. In normal mode, up to eight devices can be paired. In business mode, only one device can be paired. Active connections are possible with up to two devices at a time. However, playback of music and phone operation is only possible with one device at a time. Phone operation has priority over playback of music, i.e. playback of music is interrupted during phone calls. Priority list when using the playback devices (PD):
Setting up multi point:
- Connect the Personal Speakerphone to the first device (see „Pairing with a device via Bluetooth®“ on page 9).
- Deactivate the Bluetooth® connection on the first device.
- Connect the Personal Speakerphone to the second device (see „Pairing with a device via Bluetooth®“ on page 9).
- Reactivate the Bluetooth® connection of the first device that automatically connects to the product. Once both devices are paired with the Personal Speakerphone, the speakerphone connects to both devices each time it is switched on.
Using multi point:
If you have connected the speakerphone with two devices and have just
activated media playback:
- Briefly press the button once to accept an incoming call.
If you have connected the speakerphone to two devices and have just ended a call:
- Briefly press the button once to start the media playback that was last played.
Adjusting the volume
To increase/decrease the volume:
- In stages: Briefly press the / button.
- Continuously: Hold down the / button.
A signal tone sounds when the maximum/minimum volume is reached.
LED display for volume control:
White: zero*–full volume**

1. At a volume close to zero LEDs except one (lit 50%) are off .
- At full volume, all LEDs are on (ring illuminated white) .
Using the mute function
To switch mute on/off:
- Briefly press the button. Icon is a steady red when mute.
- Briefly press the button again.Mute is cancelled.
Playing media
The functions described depend on the playback device and playback device software and may not be available.
To start / pause playback:
- Briefly press the button once. To play the next / previous track:
- Briefly press the button twice / three times.
Calling up the personal assistant
To call up the personal assistant of your smartphone or tablet:
- Press the button for 1 to 3 sec.
Using Sound-Activated Lighting Mode
When Sound-Activated Lighting Mode is activated, the LED ring lights up in
time with the audio signals.
To switch on the function:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
To switch off the function:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
Using Business Mode
In Business Mode, a maximum of one device can be paired with the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone. The pairing list is automatically deleted when the speakerphone is disconnected or switched off.
To call up Business Mode:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
To deactivate Business Mode:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
Using Stealth Mode
In Stealth Mode, the illumination of the LED ring on the beyerdynamic Personal Speakerphone can be switched off without switching off the speakerphone. Operating in Stealth Mode increases battery life during operation.
To activate Stealth Mode:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
The lighting on the LED ring goes out.
To deactivate Stealth Mode:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
The lighting on the LED ring comes on. Stealth Mode is also deactivated when the speaker phone is switched off and on again.
Controlling calls
To accept a call:
- Briefly press the button.
To end a call:
- Briefly press the button.
To reject a call:
- Briefly press the button.
To switch a call or accept a second call:
- Briefly press the button.

Using voice messages
To activate voice messages:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
To deactivate voice messages:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 1 to 3 sec.
Resetting to factory settings
All personal data is deleted if the device is reset to the factory settings!
To reset to factory settings:
- Press the button and button simultaneously for 3 to 4 sec.
Settings for best sound
To achieve the best possible sound with your beyerdynamic SPACE Personal
Speakerphone via Bluetooth®,please observe the following practical tips:

Set the volume to minimum on your beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone and to maximum on the playback device.
-
Then adjust the volume only on your beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone and not on the playback device.
This applies only to playback devices that do not automatically synchronise the volume. On playback devices that automatically synchronise the volume (e.g. iPhone, iPad, various Android smartphones), the volume on the speakerphone is always identical to the volume of the playback device. -
Deactivate any audio effects that may be present in the software of the playback device.
Attaching a Kensington lock
To attach and lock the lock
- Loop the lock cable around a secure anchor and insert the lock head into the Kensington socket of your Personal Speakerphone.
- Lock the lock with the enclosed key.
To open and remove the lock
- Open the lock with the enclosed key.
- Pull the lock head out of the Kensington socket and remove the lock with the lock cable.

HELP WITH PROBLEMS / FAQ
Beyer dynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone will not switch on
- Battery is empty or almost empty.
- Charge the battery.
No audio output .
- There is no Bluetooth® connection
- Connect beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone with the playback device.
The Beyer dynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone does not appear among the available Bluetooth® devices in the playback device .
- The beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone is switched off.
- Switch on the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone.
- The beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone is not in connection mode.
- Set the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone to connection mode.
- There is already a Bluetooth® connection to another playback device.
- Disconnect the Bluetooth® connection to the other playback device and connect the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone to the desired device.
The sound reproduction is too low, even though set to maximum on the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone
- The audio signal being played back is too quiet.
- Set playback volume on the playback device to maximum.
The wireless range is too low, or the connection is disrupted
- There is interference with other devices.
- Keep your distance from WLAN routers and microwave ovens.
- Do not stand between the playback device and the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone.
BATTERY LIFE
- Disconnect the USBconnecting cable from the charging unit and speakerphone.
- High temperatures, especially with a high charge level, can cause irreversible damage.
- If the battery is not used or is stored for extended periods of time, it is recommended to charge it to approx. 50 % and store it at no more than 20 °C.
- Switch off the battery-powered product after use.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Use a soft cloth moistened with alcohol cleaner to clean all parts of the beyerdynamic SPACE Personal Speakerphone. Make sure that no liquid enters the housing or the transducer.
- Do not use cleaners containing solvents, as these can damage the surface.
DISPOSAL
This symbol on the product, in the operating instructions or on the packaging means that the electrical and electronic devices must be disposed of separately from household waste at the end of their life cycle.
- Always dispose of used devices in accordance with the regulations in force.
- In the EU, please use the recycling collection systems for this. To return old devices, batteries and rechargeable batteries, you have free collection points and a free return to beyerdynamic available to you, together with other recycling acceptance points where applicable. You can obtain the addresses of collection points for public waste disposal from your local authority. For further information, please contact your local authority or the dealer from whom the product was purchased.
Battery disposal
- Dispose of batteries separately from the product after use in accordance with the regulations in force. They must not be disposed of in household waste. Returning batteries is free of charge.
- Discharge the batteries before disposal.
NOTE: Non-destructive removal of the battery by the end user is not possible with this product. Please contact beyerdynamic or consult independent specialists.
