Mounting the Wall Plate

  1. Open package to find the wall plate.
  2. Position the wall plate in the desired location on the wall, then level and mark the hole positions.
  3. Use the mounting hardware provided in the packaging to install the drywall anchors to the wall.
  4. Mount the wall plate to the drywall anchors using the provided 2x M3.5x19mm screws. Connecting the Wires

Note: Do not over tighten the screws. Tighten only until the wall plate no longer moves.

Make sure power is of to the indoor unit before performing any of the following steps.

  1. 1a) Connect the adapter cable to the CN105 connector on the indoor unit control board.
    b) Mount the adapter to a stable location near the indoor unit, or if possible, inside the indoor unit.
    Note: Length of wire NOT to exceed 17m (55 ft) to ensure signal integrity

  2. Run 18AWG, 4 conductor (minimum) wire from the adapter to the wall plate, and connect the A/B/C/D wires as shown below.

    Note: If the outdoor unit is a multi-zone model with a branch box (i.e., MXZ), all address and dipswitch settings must be configured before connecting the SDW01 to the indoor unit.

  3. Connect this end to SDW01 wall plate via 18AWG,

Note: Do not connect to a Wireless Interface 2. The SDW01 is not compatible with kumo cloud®

Initial Installer Setup

Once the SDW01 controller has established communication with the indoor unit, the initial settings for the indoor unit and SDW01 controller can be configured as described below.

  1. Press the dial to open the general menu at the top of the screen, then scroll to the right and select “settings” by pressing the dial again.
  2. Scroll down and select “Installer”.
  3. To configured the indoor unit settings, select “Function Codes”. The controller will populate a list based on the available Function Codes from the indoor unit.
  4. Select the Function Code (1-28) you wish to confgure, then select the desired value (1-3) to make the change.
  5. To confgure the controller settings, select “ISU”. (Installer Setup Options)
  6. Select the ISU you wish to configure, then select the desired setting to make the change.

Installer Menu Options

Function Codes: This is used to access the indoor unit’s built-in initial settings. Changes made to these settings will remain active indefinitely, even if the SDW01 is disconnected and replaced with another controller.
ISU: This is used to access the controller’s initial settings. Changes made to these settings will only remain active while the controller is connected. If the SDW01 is disconnected and replaced with another controller, all settings will revert to their default state.
Error Codes: This is used to access the Error Code history reported by the indoor unit.
Factory Reset: This will reset the controller to its factory state.
Test Mode: This will run the unit in cooling or heating to test system performance.

Advanced Menu

Notes

Set to Installed when connecting the system to any of the following central controllers: AE-200, AE-50, EW-50. When set to Installed, dual setpoints will not be available in Auto mode, and all scheduling will be disabled.
The control determines the correct setting based on the equipment the receiver is plugged into.
If ACO is selected, system mode options will be Heat, Off, Cool, and Auto. If MANUAL is selected, AUTO mode is disabled during operation and not selectable by the user.
This ISU setting is not shown when ISU 134 is set to INSTALLED or ISU 142 is set to COOL ONLY.
MANUAL and ACO settings are shown if ISU 134 is set to NOT INSTALLED.
his ISU is shown if Auto Changeover (ACO) is selected.
This ISU is shown if dry mode is supported by the indoor unit.
When set for Residential, the schedule periods are Comfort, Away, and Sleep. When set for Commercial, the schedule options are Morning, Midday, Evening, and Night.
If enabled, the controller will show a lock symbol next to all modes (except Off). If the user attempts to adjust the mode from off to on, they will be unable to. This will keep the Remote controller from turning on the equipment. The equipment will need to be remotely turned on.
If enabled, the controller will show a lock symbol for the Off mode and not allow the user to adjust the mode from on to off.
If enabled, the controller will show a lock symbol for all modes other than the current mode and not allow the user to adjust the mode from the current mode to any other mode, except for Off. The user will still be able to turn the unit on and off only.

The Max Heat Setpoint can be adjusted to any whole number between 40 and 90 °F, as well as half increments between 4.5 and 32.5 T.

The maximum allowable setpoint depends on the model of the indoor unit that the SDW is connected to. The maximum setpoint for each model can be found in the indoor unit Operation or Service manual.

The Min Cool Setpoint can be adjusted to any whole number between 50 and 99 °F, as well as half increments between 10 and 37 T. The minimurr allowable setpoint depends on the model of the indoor unit that the SDW is connected to. The minimum setpoint for each model can be found in the indoor unit Operation or Service manual.
SDW01: The SDWO1 built-in thermistor (default). Indoor unit: The indoor unit return air sensor.
The Indoor Temperature Display Offset can be adjusted to any whole number between -5 and 5 °F, as well as half increments between -2.5 and 2.5 T. 0 is the default.
The Indoor Humidity Display Offset can be adjusted to any whole number between -10 and 10 RH. 0 is the default.
If enabled, the Auto Dry feature will run automatically based on the set parameters.

Performing a System Test

Performing a System Test

You can test system operation by performing the following steps.

  1. Press the dial to open the general menu at the top of the screen, then scroll to the right and select “settings” by pressing the dial again.

  2. Scroll down and select “Installer”.

  3. Scroll down and select “Test Mode”.

  4. To test cooling, select “Run Cool Test”.
    To test heating, select “Run Heat Test”.

  5. To end testing and exit Test Mode, select “End Test”.

Note: Test Mode is only available on P-Series models, and SEZ, SLZ, SVZ models.

Auto Dry

Auto Dry automatically switches between Cool mode and Dry mode based on the parameters selected in ISU 197, 198, 199, and 200. If enabled, the system will alternate between Cool and Dry mode until it meets the target humidity or temperature ofset.
See the following descriptions for details.
ISU 197: Enable or disable Auto Dry (default disabled).
Note: If disabled in the ISU menu, it cannot be enabled by the user in the standard Settings menu.
ISU 198: Choose the maximum RH that the user will be comfortable with in the space. Auto Dry will be activated whenever the RH rises above this value. Select any RH value between 35%-75% (default 60%).
ISU 199: Choose the maximum temperature ofset above set point that the user will be comfortable with before Auto Dry switches back to Cool mode. Auto Dry will be deactivated whenever the temperature rises above this value.
Select any value between 2°-10°F (default 2°F).
ISU 200: Choose the maximum temperature ofset below set point that the user will be comfortable with before Auto Dry switches back to Cool mode. Auto Dry will be deactivated whenever the temperature falls below this value.
Select any value between 2°-4°F (default 2°F).
