Initial Operation
6.1 Battery pack
Charge the battery pack before use.
Recharge the battery pack if performance diminishes.
Instructions on charging the battery pack can be found in the operating
instructions of the Metabo charger.
Battery packs have a capacity and signal display (10) (depends on design
variant):
– Press the button (11), the LEDs indicate the charge level.
– The battery pack is almost empty and must be recharged if one LED is
flashing.
6.2 Removing and inserting the battery pack
Hold the machine when removing and inserting the battery pack so that the
on/off switch cannot be unintentionally pressed.
Removing:
Press the battery pack release (8) button and remove the battery pack (9).
Inserting:
Slide in the battery pack (9) until it engages.
Use
7.1 Preparation
The parts to be bonded must be free from grease, must be dry and absolutely
clean.
Both the materials to be bonded and the surface must not be easily combustible
or flammable.
To ensure safe working and a good result, keep the device clean.
– After hardening of the adhesive, it can be removed with a blunt object.
– Do not use any solvents.
– The glue joints can be dissolved again using heat.
Check suitability of heat-sensitive materials using a test piece.
Permissible ambient temperature during operation of the device as well as the
temperature of the material to be processed: 5°C-50°C/41°F-122°F. Adhesive
stains on clothing cannot be removed.
At 130°C/270°F special “low melt” hot-melt sticks with low melting temperature
are necessary!
7.2 Bonding
– Depending on the material, set the appropriate processing temperature (see
chapter 2) and use suitable glue sticks.
– Insert the glue stick (5) into the heating channel (6).
– When using for the first time, the feed trigger (3) must be pressed several
times to fill the heating chamber with adhesive. It may be necessary to press
the glue stick briefly.
– Press and hold the button (1) or (2) (depending on the application) for
approx. 2 seconds to switch on the device. The corresponding LED (1) or (2)
flashes green during the heating phase. Once it stays on permanently, the hot
glue gun is ready for operation.
– If the processing temperature is changed during operation, the respective
button flashes green until the target temperature is reached. (when cooling
from 200°C/400°F to 130°C/270°F this may take several minutes)
– Press the feed trigger (3) and apply the glue on one side.
– Firmly press together the materials to be glued and correct if needed.
– The bonding surface is able to be put under load after about 2 minutes.
– Press and hold the active button again to switch off the device. After 10
minutes of inactivity, the device switches off automatically.
– Shortly before the end of the battery pack runtime, the corresponding LED
(1) or (2) changes to red and flashes.
– After use, put the device down safely and allow it to cool down completely
to avoid damage to the hot nozzle.
7.3 Instructions for use
Apply the hot-melt glue in dots or strips. Do not spread.
The parts to be bonded should have room temperature. Heat cold tiles, marble
etc. prior to the application (e.g. with a hot air gun).
Materials that are difficult to bond (rubber, metal, particular plastics)
should be roughened prior to applying the hot-melt glue (e.g. with fine
sandpaper).
When bonding on smooth and/or somewhat colder surfaces (e.g. metal) first
apply the hot-melt glue to the smooth and/or somewhat colder surface. In case
of larger surfaces always apply the glue in dots (larger glue dots). When
bonding textiles or similar materials, apply the hot-melt glue in wavy lines.
Cleaning
Before cleaning:
Switch off the machine. Remove battery pack (9) from the machine.
