Important

Safety

Important safety instructions

  • Make sure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage on the back or the underside of the unit.
  • The speaker shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing.
  • Do not place any source of danger on the speaker (e.g. liquid lled objects, lit candles).
  • Make sure that there is enough free space around the speaker for ventilation.
  • Please use the speaker safely in an environment with temperature between 0℃ and 45℃.
  • Only use attachments and accessories specie by the manufacturer

Battery safety precautions

  • Danger of explosion or fire if a battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
  • A battery (battery pack or battery installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, Fire or the like.
  • A battery in extreme high or low temperatures during use, storage or transportation, and low air pressure at high altitude can pose safety hazards.
  • Do not replace a battery with an incorrect type that can defeat a safeguard (for example, some lithium battery types).
  • Disposing a battery into Fire or a hot oven, mechanically crushing or cutting a battery can result in an explosion.
  • Leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding, or an extremely low air pressure environment may result in an explosion or leakage of Flammable liquid or gas.

  • Never remove the casing of this speaker.
  • Never lubricate any part of this speaker.
  • Place this speaker on a other at, hard and stable surface.
  • Never place this speaker on other electrical equipment.
  • Only use this speaker indoors. Keep this speaker away from water, moisture and liquid-filled objects.
  • Keep this speaker away from direct sunlight, naked flames or heat.
  • Risk of explosion or fire if a battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
  • To avoid risk of fire, the equipment is supplied only by external power source which output shall comply with PS1 (with output capacity less than 15W).

Get started

Caution

  •  Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than herein may result in hazardous laser exposure or other unsafe operation

Always follow the instructions in this chapter in sequence. If you contact Philips, you will be asked for the model and serial number of this apparatus. The model number and serial number are on the back of the apparatus. Write the numbers here:

Power on

Press  Press and hold to switch on/off the party speaker

Note

  • The party speaker will always enter Bluetooth pairing mode every time you turn it on.

Charge the built-in battery

  • Plug the USB cord to charge the built-in battery. The battery indicators blink in dierent manners to indicate the charging status.

  • The four indicators on the unit will go out after the battery is fully charged.

  • The speaker is designed with a smart battery check feature for your convenience.

  • Short press   button to show the current battery level on the LED indicators of the unit in power on mode while the unit is not being charged

  • When the battery level is low, all the battery indicators will blink simultaneously and apromt tone is heard

Basic playback

  • Press and hold to switch on/off the unit.

  • Press to check battery level in power on status.

  • Press to turn the Dynamic Bass Boost on or off.

  • Press to enter True Wireless Stereo (TWS) pairing mode. It works only when you have two identical TAX2208 speakers.

  • Press and hold to disconnect Bluetooth connection. repeatedly to switch light mode of speaker light and switch light to OFF.

Play audio through Bluetooth

The product can stream music from your Bluetooth device to the system through Bluetooth.

Connect a device

Note

  • Before pairing a device with this product, read its user manual for Bluetooth compatibility.
  • The product can memorize a maximum of  eight paired devices. The ninth paired device will replace the first one.
  • Any obstacle between this product and a Bluetooth device can reduce the operational  range. Keep away from any other electronicdevice that may cause interference.
  • The operational range between this product and a Bluetooth device is approximately 10meters (30 feet).

Connect a device automatically

  1. Press and hold button to switch on the party speaker. The unit automatically enters Bluetooth pairing mode, and white backlight of button and blue speaker light blink to remind you to connect with a Bluetooth device.
  2. On your Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for Bluetooth devices that can be paired.
  3. Select [Philips TAX2208] displayed on your device for pairing. After successful connection, the backlight of the button keeps solid.

Connect a device manually

  1. When the party speaker is in Audio in  source, short press button   to switch to Bluetooth source and enter pairing mode. White backlight of button and blue speaker light blink to remind you to connect with a Bluetooth device.
  2. On your Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for Bluetooth devices that can be paired.
  3. Select [Philips TAX2208] displayed on your device for pairing. After successful connection, the backlight of the button  keeps solid.

Disconnect a device

  1. Press and hold  button on the party speaker to disconnect from the current device.
  2. White backlight of button  and blue speaker light blink to remind you to connect with a Bluetooth device.

Note

  • Before connecting another Bluetooth device, disconnect the current device firstly.
  • When the Bluetooth device is beyond the valid Bluetooth distance, the unit will disconnect automatically from the device.
  • To disconnect from the current device and clear out the Bluetooth pairing information, press and hold button on the unit until the button’s backlight fast blinks three times and a prompt tone is heard.

Note

  • TWS works only when there are two identical party speakers (Philips TAX2208

Pair two TAX2208 speakers via TWS

  1. Select one speaker as the master speaker and connect it to the Bluetooth device.
  2. Long press the button on the master speaker until a prompt tone is heard.
  3. Then long press the button on the slave speaker until a prompt tone is heard.
  4. TWS is connected and the backlight of the button lights up on both speakers.

To exit TWS, long press the button on either of the speakers until the prompt tone is heard and the backlight is of

Play audio through Audio in

Listen to an external device

With this product, you can listen to an external audio device such as an MP3 player.

Play from an MP3 player

  1. Press and hold button to switch on the party speaker and then you will hear aprompt tone.
  2. Connect an audio input cable (not supplied) with a 3.5mm connector on both ends to:
  3. The Audio in jack on the product.
  4. The headphone jack on the MP3 player.
  5. The blue backlight button will go off and the party speaker will be automatically switched to Audio in source.

Note

  • You need to re-insert the audio input cable into the Audio in jack if you want to switch back to Audio in from the other sources.

Sing through microphone

Adjust microphone volume

Plug an external wired microphone (not supplied) into the 6.3mm mic input port and adjust the microphone volume by turning the Mic vol knob. Now, enjoy the karaoke singing!

Tune the echo effect to you desired level via the Echo knob on the top panel

No sound

  • Adjust the volume.

About Bluetooth device

The audio quality is poor after connection with a Bluetooth-enabled device

  • The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to this product or remove any obstacle between them.

Cannot connect with the device

  • The Bluetooth function of the device is not enabled. Refer to the user manual of the device for how to enable the function.
  • This product is already connected with another Bluetooth-enabled device. Disconnect that device and then try again.

The paired device connects and disconnects constantly

  • The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to this product or remove any obstacle between them.
  • For some devices, Bluetooth connection may be deactivated automatically as apower-saving feature. This does not indicate any malfunction of this product.
