Latch Installation Guide
The latch installation guide is applicable for new doors that do
not have pre-existing holes for the lock or latch. If your door
already has the required holes, you may skip these steps.
-
1. Measure and mark the height of the holes on the door using the
template guide. The suggested height for the hole centerline is 38
or 970mm from the base of the door. -
Drill a 2-1/8 (54mm) hole and a 2/5 (10mm) hole on the marked
positions.
Note: It is recommended to drill both holes for
the best installation of the lock. If you choose not to drill the
2/5 (10mm) hole, the C Screw Pillar will not be used in the
installation of the Contour Smart Lock.
Install the Latch:
-
Adjust the latch length according to the backset (2-3/8 (60mm)
or 2-3/4 (70mm)). -
Fix two self-tapping screws onto the latch plate using a
screwdriver.
Install Strike Plate and Box:
-
Extend the latch out and gently close it against the door
frame. Mark the top and bottom of the latch on the frame. -
Mark a centerline down the jamb for the strike plate, ensuring
enough space for the door to close against the stop. -
Place the strike plate on the jamb, aligning the marks from the
latch to the hole for the bolt. Also, ensure that the strike plate
is centered on the marked centerline. -
Scribe around the outer edge of the strike plate with a pencil
and chisel within the scribed area to a depth of 1/12 (2mm). -
Chisel out the hole to a depth of 1 (25mm) to allow the latch
to extend and move freely. -
Insert the strike box and strike plate into the hole, then
screw in the strike plate as shown.
Once the latch and strike plate are installed, you can proceed
with the remaining installation steps as mentioned in the user
manual.
