BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

HANDLING OF BATTERIES

Do Not Short Circuit the Battery

Never short circuit the battery, as doing so generates a very high current which can lead to overheating, electrolyte gel leakage, harmful fumes, or explosion. The LIR tabs short-circuit easily when placed on a conductive surface. Appropriate circuitry with an integrated PCM is employed to protect accidental short circuit of the battery pack.

Mechanical Shock

Dropping the unit or subjecting it to impact, bending, or other stresses may cause failure or shortend life of the LIR battery

OTHER

Battery Connection

  • Direct soldering of wire leads or devices to the battery is strictly prohibited.
  • Lead tabs with pre-soldered wiring shall be spot welded to the batteries. Direct soldering may cause damage of components, such as the separator and insulator, as a result of heat build up.

Prevention of Short Circuit Within a Battery Pack

Insulative layers between the wiring and the batteries provide extra safety and protection against short circuits. The battery pack is constructed in such a way as to prevent a short circuit that would result in smoke or fire. t

Do Not Disassemble the Batteries

Never disassemble the batteries, as doing so may cause an internal short circuit in the battery, resulting in harmful fumes, fire, explosion, or other hazards. Electrolyte gel is harmful, and any leakage of electrolyte gel should be addressed with extreme caution. Should the electrolyte gel come into contact with the skin or eyes, flush the area of contact with fresh water and seek medical attention immediately

Do Not Expose the Battery to Heat or Fire

Never incinerate or dispose of the batteries in fire. This may cause an explosion.

Do Not Expose the Battery to Water or Other Liquids

Never soak or drop the batteries in liquids such as water, seawater, beverages, juices, coffee or any other liquids.

Battery Replacement

For battery replacement, please contact ADJ customer support 800-322-6337.

Do Not Use a Damaged Battery

Should the battery be found to be damaged (including damage to the plastic casing, deformation of the battery package, odor of an electrolyte or other chemical, or leakage of the electrolyte gel, among other damages) DO NOT use the battery. A battery with a odor of electrolyte or a gel leakage should be placed away from fire or heat in order to reduce the risk of explosion.

BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

BATTERY STORAGE

Store the battery at room temperature, with a charge of at least 50%. During long periods of storage, it is recommended that the battery be charged every 6 months. Doing so will prolong the life of the battery and will also make sure that the battery charge does not fall below the 30% mark.

OTHER CHEMICAL REACTIONS

Because batteries utilize a chemical reaction, battery performance will deteriorate over time even if stored for a long period of time without being used. In addition, if the various usage conditions, such as charge, discharge, ambient temperature, etc. are not maintained within the specified ranges, the life expectancy of the battery may be shortened, or the device in which the battery is used may be damaged by electrolyte gel leakage. If the batteries cannot maintain a charge for long periods of time, even when charged correctly, this may indicate that replacement of the battery is required.

BATTERY DISPOSAL

Please dispose of battery according to local regulations.

INSTALLATION

The unit can be installed in two different ways.

The unit includes an X-Clip that allows installation on drop down ceilings. Always ensure that the unit is firmly fixed to avoid vibration and slipping during operation. Always ensure that the structure to which you are attaching the unit is secure and able to support at least 10 times the unit’s weight. Always use a safety cable that can hold 12 times the weight of the unit when doing this type of installation. The safety cable should go through the eye hole nut that holds the X-Clip base in place.

You can also install using the magnetic base. To do this, remove the X-Clip base by unscrewing the eye hole bolt. Once the X-Clip has been removed, the fixture can be stuck to anything magnetic.

The equipment must be installed by a professional, and it must be installed in a place where it is out of the general public’s reach.

COLOR FILTER INSTALLATION

The Pin Point Gobo comes with 4 color filters and a frost filter. To install any of the filters, follow the steps below:

  1. Remove gobo holder from the fixture.
  2. Remove the retainer ring that holds the gobo in place.
  3. Install the filter and replace the retainer ring.

GOBO INSTALLATION

The Pin Point Gobo comes with 4 replaceable gobos (see below). To install a gobo, follow the directions below:

  2. Remove the retainer ring that holds the gobo in place.
  3. Install the gobo and replace the retainer ring.

FOCUS AND ZOOM ADJUSTMENT

The knobs located on the right side of unit are used to adjust the focus and the zoom. For a tighter/ narrower beam, move the first/front knob to the front of the fixture, and move the second knob to rear. For a wider beam, move the first/front knob towards the middle of the fixture, and move the second knob towards the middle as well. Adjust accordingly

UC IR REMOTE AND AIRSTREAM IR

The UC IR (sold separately) infrared remote gives you control of various functions (See below). To control the fixture you must aim the remote at the front of the fixture and be no more than 30 feet away. Please note that the UC IR remote can only be used when the fixture is in primary mode.
The Pin Point Gobo is also compatible with the Airstream IR app. The IR transmitter is available through any ADJ dealer or through the ADJ parts website. Plug the transmitter into the headphone jack of your iOS phone or tablet. To control your IR fixture, you must raise the volume to the maximum on your iOS phone or tablet and aim the transmitter at the front of the fixture. Maximum range is 15 feet. After you have purchased the Airstream IR transmitters, the app is a free download from the app store for your iOS phone or tablet. The app comes with 3 pages of control depending on the IR fixture you are using. Please see below for IR functions including the corresponding app page.

To recharge the battery, simply plug the included power supply into the socket on the side of the unit, and connect the other end to a power source whose voltage matches the unit’s requirements. The battery requires approximately 6.5 hours to reach full charge with the unit powered off.

CLEANING

Due to fog residue, smoke, and dust, cleaning the internal and external optical lenses must be carried out periodically to optimize light output.

  • Use normal glass cleaner and a soft cloth to wipe down the outer casing.
  • Clean the external optics with glass cleaner and a soft cloth every 20 days.
  • Always be sure to dry all parts completely before plugging the unit back in.

Cleaning frequency depends on the environment in which the fixture operates (i.e. smoke, fog residue, dust, dew).
