MPPL-FA1 – Automatic Fall Detector with Touch Sensor Call Alarm
The MPPL-FA1 has been designed and manufactured to offer simplistic yet reliable paging functions to alert a caregiver or family member of a fall. Your system (if purchased as a set with the MPPL pager) is already paired together and has been tested prior to leaving our factory. The CR2477T battery will already be installed in the fall alarm transmitter. The MPPL-FA1 can signal the MPPL pager at a distance of 100 metres (open field).
Turning on the MPPL-FA1
There is a short sequence involving the supplied magnet which is necessary to turn on the MPPL-FA1 fall sensor. When received, to save false alerts wasting battery power throughout transit, the device will be turned off and will not respond to being dropped or touching the call button sensor area. To turn on the FA1, follow this outlined procedure;
- Place and hold your finger on the call button sensor area whilst holding the magnet against the side of the fall device (the red dots are an indicator of the area the magnet should be held against). After around 4-5 seconds the central red LED will light solid.
- Whilst holding the magnet in position, remove your finger from the button sensor area
- After 2 seconds replace your finger on the button sensor area
- Now remove the magnet from the side of the transmitter, the red LED will extinguish
- The device is now turned on. Placing your finger on the call button area will activate an alarm and the LED will flicker to indicate transmission.
The procedure is exactly the same as above to turn OFF the MPPL-FA1 (for storage purposes or when not in use).
Using the MPPL-FA1 as a Fall Detector
To use the MPPL-FA1 as an automatic fall detector it is recommended to wear the device on a lanyard as oppose to the wrist-strap (both provided). The sensor will be far more accurate at detecting a fall when it is allowed to fall freely, compared to when it is worn on the wrist. Once the device is turned on, dropping the unit will activate a transmission (indicated by a flickering LED). If a pager was purchased with the equipment and is ON, it will alarm at this point. Reset the pager and perform a range test, if the MPPL pager activates at the furthest point in the building from the FA1, the system is ready to use. If a further range is required, the MPPL-RPT can extend the signal up to another 100 meters.
Using the MPPL-FA1 as a Pendant Call Alarm
The MPPL-FA1 has been designed so that there is no button to push to call for assistance, meaning even people with very poor dexterity can use the device to signal to a carer or family member that they need help. To activate the transmission signal, simply place a finger onto the button sensor area and hold for 2 seconds. The LED will flicker to indicate an alarm and the pager will respond. To use the MPPL-FA1 as a pendant call alarm it is recommended to wear the device on a wrist-strap as oppose to the lanyard (both provided). The device is supplied on the wrist-strap as standard.
Pairing the MPPL-FA1 with an MPPL Pager
If you have purchased the MPPL-FA1 separately or to add to an existing system, you will need to pair the device with the MPPL pager it is to be used with. To do this, with the MPPL pager turned on, locate the ‘learn’ button inside the battery compartment (see MPPL user manual for detailed instructions). Press the ‘learn’ button and a solid red LED will light on the front of the pager, now activate the MPPL-FA1 either by placing a finger on the button sensor or by dropping the device to simulate a fall. The MPPL pager will beep to indicate the signal has been learnt and the next time you activate the FA1 the pager will alarm.
