General remarks and safety instructions
Warnings / Note on the Road Traffic Act
Installed in a compatible e-bike, the sIMPLEk Pro tuning module cancels the factory-integrated speed limit of the motor support. Therefore, the operation of the sIMPLEk Pro tuning module is prohibited and not permitted within the scope of the Road Traffic Act. Operation is only intended on private property and racetracks that are closed to public traffic. The use of an e-bike modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (§ 21 StVG) and driving without insurance cover (§ 6 PflVG). Tuning measures on the e-bike can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures in the event of accidents can lead to a loss of insurance cover and of accident victim assistance services. The technical nature of the e-bike may not be designed for the use of tuning measures without further measures, which can lead to safety risks.
When installing in the e-bike, make sure not to damage any cables when installing the protective cover of the motor in order to avoid possible resulting short circuits or cable crushing, which can lead to electric shock or fire, among other things.
No liability is assumed for any present or future damage (direct or indirect) resulting from non-observance of these operating instructions. Use at your own risk.
Please always wear suitable protective clothing and a helmet
Installation
Remove the battery of your e-bike before you start the installation! The module is switched in front of the original sensor. To do this, the engine cowling usually has to be removed. Depending on the engine variant, additional tools are required for this.
Installation example Bosch Performance-Line from 2023 and newer
Tools needed:
- Torx 20 socket wrench
- Optional: flat nose pliers
Remove the two torx screws with the socket wrench (image 1). Now the
engine cover can be removed. If necessary, use flat-nosed pliers to pull out
the speed sensor plug (image 2).
Now connect the plug of the sIMPLEk to the position of the previously unplugged speed sensor. The speed sensor is then connected to the connector of the sIMPLEk. When plugging in, make sure you hear/feel it clicks into place.
Installation example Bosch Performance- and Cargo-Line CX from 2022 and
newer
Tools needed:
- 4 mm Allen key (Fully cased version Torx 20 socket wrench)
- Optional: flat nose pliers
- ISIS crank puller (only for the full fairing version)
In the case of the fully clad version, the crank must also be removed. To do
this, loosen the 8 mm allen screw (image 3) and remove the crank using the
crank puller. Loosen the screws of the engine cover (image 3 or image 5). Now
the engine cover can be removed. If necessary, pull the plug of the speed
sensor (image 4 or image 6) using flat nosed pliers.
Now connect the plug of the simplek to the position of the previously
unplugged speed sensor. The speed sensor is then connected to the connector of
the simplek. When plugging in, make sure you hear/feel it clicks into place.

Operation
Calibration
The calibration must be carried out once. It must be carried out at a standstill and with the battery pack inserted. It is called up automatically on the first start. For e-bikes without a display, the calibration must be carried out using the FLOW app. The FLOW app must be installed and set up before installing the module. The calibration consists of two sections. First a rough calibration, then a fine one. In the first section of the calibration, an increasing speed is output on the speedometer. Switch off the e-bike as precisely as possible at 10.0 and wait at least 5 seconds. After switching on again, the fine calibration is carried out. A speed is output on the speedometer, which gradually approaches 10.0 in small steps and, in the meantime, briefly drops towards 0.0 . As soon as 10.0 is displayed for the first time (it can take several minutes), switch off the e-bike again and wait at least 5 seconds
Necessary previous settings: In order for the module to function correctly, it is necessary before performing the calibration that the wheel circumference is set to the standard value (factory setting). This can be done via the Kiox (Settings → My eBike → Wheel circumference) or the Flow app (SeTngs → My eBike – manage your eBike settings → Wheel circumference). When calibraQng again, this must first be reset to the standard value (factory setting). In addition, the unit of the speed display must be set to metric ( )
Note FLOW app: While the e-bike is receiving speedometer signals from the module or speed sensor, it is not possible to open the speed display of the Flow app (ride screen). To make this possible during the ongoing calibration, simply generate a single sensor signal by turning the rear wheel (just one turn!). The module then pauses the calibration for a few seconds and the FLOW app is released.
Cancelcalibration: If the e-bike is ridden in calibration mode, the calibration is aborted and the sIMPLEk jumps back to 1:1 mode. In this case, no calibration took place.
Carrying out calibration at first start-up with the KIOX 300 display:
- Switch on the e-bike → [Kiox shows slowly increasing speed, calibration level 1]
- Switch off e-bike at approx. 10.0 , wait 5 seconds
- Switch on the e-bike → [Kiox shows slowly increasing speed and keeps dropping towards 0 , calibration level 2]
- Switch off e-bike at exactly 10.0 , wait 5 seconds
Start the calibration again manually with the Kiox 300:
- Switch on e-bike → [Kiox stays at 0.0 , 1:1 mode]
- Switch off the e-bike after it has booted up completely, wait 5 seconds
- Switch on e-bike → [Kiox shows 10.0 with correct calibration (otherwise a different constant value), tuningmode]
- Switch off the e-bike after 10.0 or another constant value is displayed, wait 5 seconds
- Switch on the e-bike → [CalibraQon level 1]
Carrying out calibration at first start-up with the FLOW app (consider the FLOW app note!):
- Open the „Ride” window in the FLOW app.
- Switch on e-bike → “Open ride screen” appears in the FLOW app → Open the ride screen → [Ride screen shows slowly increasing speed, calibration level 1]
- Switch off the e-bike at approx. 10.0 and leave the ride screen open, wait at least 5 seconds
- Switch on the e-bike → [Ride screen shows slowly increasing speed and keeps dropping towards 0 , calibration level 2]
- Switch off e-bike at exactly 10.0 , wait 5 seconds
Start calibration again manually with the FLOW app (consider the FLOW app note!):
- Open the „Ride” window in the FLOW app.
- Switch on e-bike → “Open ride screen” appears in the FLOW app → Open the ride screen → [Ride screen stays at 0.0 , 1:1 mode]
- Switch off the e-bike and leave the ride screen open, wait at least 5 seconds.
- Switch on the e-bike → [Ride screen shows 10.0 with correct calibration (otherwise a different constant value), tuningmode]
- Switch off the e-bike after 10.0 or another constant value is displayed and leave the ride screen open, wait 5 seconds
- Switch on the e-bike → [Calibration level 1]
1:1-mode
1:1 mode is always started after the e-bike has been operated in tuning mode or 1:1 mode for more than 15 seconds and switched off. In this mode, the e-bike behaves as if it were not modified.
Standard tuning
Activating the tuning mode with the Kiox 300 display:
- Switch on e-bike → [Kiox stays at 0.0 , 1:1 mode is active]
- Switch off the e-bike after it has started up completely, wait at least 5 seconds.
- Switch on e-bike → [Kiox shows 10.0 with correct calibration (otherwise a different constant value), tuningmode is active]
Activating the tuning mode with the LED Remote (no Kiox installed or removed):
- Switch on e-bike → [1:1 mode is active]
- Switch off after the battery status LEDs on the remote stop flashing and wait at least 5 seconds after the LEDs are off.
- Switch on e-bike → [tuningmode is active]
Activation of the tuningmode with the FLOW app (consider FLOW app note):
- Open the „Ride” window in the FLOW app.
- Switch on e-bike → “Open ride screen” appears in the FLOW app → Open the ride screen → [Ride screen stays at 0.0 , 1:1 mode is active]
- Switch off the e-bike and leave the ride screen open, wait at least 5 seconds.
- Switch on the e-bike → [Ride screen shows 10.0 with correct calibration (otherwise a different constant value), tuningmode is active]
Note FLOW app: While the e-bike is receiving speedometer signals from the module or speed sensor, it is not possible to open the speed display of the Flow app (ride screen). To make this possible, simply generate a single sensor signal by turning the rear wheel (only one turn!). The module then pauses the 10 km/h output for a few seconds and the FLOW app is released.
Motor support: When delivered and after each calibration, the motor support is limited to 40 . However, the speed limit for the motor support can be freely selected if required (see advanced tuning 3.4)
Speed representation: The speed actually driven remains readable in the standard tuning mode. Up to 22 it is displayed 1 to 1, above 22 it is displayed via the second digit and the decimal place and 20 must also be subtracted from this speed in order to get the correct value.
Examples of speed representation in standard tuning (motor support up to 40
Automatic r oute compensation: In order to compensate for the difference between the distance actually covered and the distance displayed, the maximum speed driven is displayed after about one minute of standstill until the distance has been covered. As soon as the difference has been compensated, the display drops to 0.0 and the e-bike switches itself off after a while. If the e-bike is switched off beforehand, the sIMPLEk saves the difference and catches up later. As a result, the maximum speed and the distance traveled/total distance are correctly displayed. In order to counteract the tuning detection, the route compensation should be carried out as regularly as possible. The route compensation can be deactivated if desired (see advanced tuning 3.4).
Advanced tuning
The module offers a variety of setting options. These can be selected and
deselected via a menu. The settings menu can be called up by starting the
tuning mode (see 3.3) and then waiting until the 10 km/h display jumps to 11
km/h (after approx. 15 seconds). The individual menu items listed below can
then be selected by generating sensor signals.
A sensor signal is generated by turning the rear wheel as soon as the magnet
mounted on the spoke or brake disc passes the sensor. With each generated
signal, the menu jumps one point further. The selection is confirmed by
switching off the e-bike when the menu item is displayed. The menu can be
aborted at any time by driving off.
Call up the menu and select the desired menu item
- Switch on e-bike in tuning mode (see 3.3) → [Display shows 10 ]
- Wait until menu starts (approx. 15 seconds) → [Display jumps from 10 to 11 , menu is active]
- Generate sensor signals by turning the rear wheel → [With each individual sensor signal, the menu jumps one step further]
- Switch off the e-bike as soon as the display shows the desired menu item → [Menu item is confirmed]
menu item 12 Set motor support speed upon delivery and after each calibration: 40
On delivery and after each calibration, the speed limit will be set at 40kmh. If you wish to adjust the speed limit, you can do this by following the instructions below.
Please note, by adjusting the speed on the module it will impact how the speed is read on your Kiox or flow app.
Additionally, activating Stealth Mode on the module further alters the how actual speed is displayed, view the table below
- Switch off the e-bike at the 12 menu item and wait 5 seconds after the display is off
- Switch on e-bike → [Display shows decreasing speed starting at the currently set speed limit (after the minimum speed value, the maximum starts again)]
- Wait until the desired value is displayed (decimal places are not taken into account) and confirm by generating at least 2 sensor signals (start driving or turning the rear wheel).
- If the e-bike is then switched off directly, the value is saved permanently, otherwise it only remains active for the current journey
