PURPOSE OF THE APPLIANCE
For making coffee from ground coffee beans.
This device is intended for use in domestic and similar conditions, in particular:

  • in kitchen areas for staff in shops, offices and other industrial conditions;
  • on agricultural farms;
  • clients in hotels, motels and other residential infrastructure;
  • in private boarding houses.

SECURITY MEASURES

The following requirements should be strictly observed in order to avoid situations hazardous for human life and health, as well as premature failures of the appliance:

  1. Please read this manual carefully before putting the device into operation. Keep these instructions, the cash receipt and the packaging of the device.
  2. Improper handling of the coffee maker can lead to its breakdown, cause material damage and harm the health of the user.
  3. To avoid electric shock and damage to the device, use only those accessories that are included in the delivery package.
  4. Before turning on the coffee maker, make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the operating voltage of the appliance.
  5. Place the coffee maker on a dry, flat surface. Do not place it on hot surfaces or near heat sources (electric stove, etc.), as well as near curtains or under hanging shelves.
  6. To avoid burns, do not touch the hot surfaces of the coffee maker.
  7. The device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or sensory abilities or lack of life experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed to use the device by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to prevent playing with the device.
  8. Do not turn on the coffee maker without water.
  9. Use only cold water to make coffee.
  10. Turn on the coffee maker only when the coffee cup is installed.
  11. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is switched on.
  12. If the appliance is not in use, always disconnect it from the mains.
  13. Do not immerse the appliance and the power cord in water or other liquids.
  14. Make sure that the power cord does not touch sharp edges and hot surfaces.
  15. When disconnecting the appliance from the mains, grasp the plug of the power cord, and do not pull the power cord.
  16. Before preparing each new portion of coffee, turn off the coffee maker for at least 5 minutes to cool it.
  17. Do not use the glass for other purposes, do not put it on gas, electric stoves and in microwave ovens.
  18. If the power cord is damaged, its replacement must be carried out by the manufacturer, the service department or similar qualified personnel to avoid danger.
  19. Special conditions for transportation (transportation), sale: no.
  20. Do not allow moisture to get on the power cord, plug and electrical contacts!
  21. Use of the device not in accordance with the instructions may result in injury!
  22. The surface of the heating element remains hot after use.

OPERATING PROCEDURE

PREPARATIONS FOR USE

  • Remove the coffee maker from the box and remove all packaging materials from it.
  • Check the appliance for damage; do not use the appliance if any damage is found.
  • Ensure that the operating voltage of the coffee maker corresponds to that of the domestic power grid.
  • Before first use rinse all removable parts (2,7,14-16) in warm water with neutral detergent and let them dry.

ATTENTION! Noise during coffee maker operation is normal and not a sign of malfunction.
BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Fill the water tank with water; do not exceed the МАХ mark.

  2. Remove the coffee filter holder (7) from the packaging box, insert the filter (14, 15) into it and install it into the appliance so that the holder handle is aligned with the mark.CENTEK CT 1168 Coffee Maker - FIRST USE

  3. Turn on the power; the appliance will emit an audio signal. The indicator lights of the buttons , and will flash three times. Press the buttons and simultaneously; the appliance will emit an audio signal. The indicator lights of the buttons and will flash simultaneously; the appliance will start to heat up.
    NOTE: ensure that the steam regulator knob is in the OFF position. If it is in the position the three indicators will blink together and the appliance will not operate.

  4. When the indicators of the buttons and light continuously, press any button to flush the coffee filter or the coffee cup with hot water.

COFFEE MAKER OPERATION

MAKING ESPRESSO

  1. Install the appropriate filter (14, 15) into filter holder (7). When the appliance becomes pre-heated, place ground coffee into the filter using the measuring spoon, then spread it out and firmly compress with the thumper.
    ATTENTION! For better throughput, do not tamper the coffee heavily in the filter!

  2. Insert the filter holder into the appliance and firmly lock it, aligning the handle with the mark, then place a coffee cup under the funnel.

  3. When the indicators and light up, press button ; coffee will start to flow in a single cup quantity. To make a double espresso press button .

  4. In order to make two portions of espresso in two different cups, place them so that the coffee flows along the wall of the cup.

  5. Wait for the process to stop. Your coffee is ready.

MILK FOAMING FUNCTION

  1. While the appliance is operating press the steam injection button ; the button’s indicator will flash, then light up constantly. This means that the pre-heating is completed.
  2. Pour whole milk with ice into the cup and insert the nozzle into the cup, at 1 cm from the surface of the milk, then slowly turn the steam regulator knob (3) counterclockwise into the position shown below. NOTE: pour some water into the cappuccino tube (4) before foaming milk.
  3. When the milk starts foaming up, you may turn the steam regulator knob clockwise to the OFF position and press button to stop steam injection.

NOTE: after using the milk foaming function please flush the cappuccino tube with the hot water supply function, so that the milk does not form residues and clog the tube.
HOT WATER SUPPLY FUNCTION
After pre-heating the appliance turn the steam regulator knob to the position; hot water will flow continuously from the cappuccino tube. Turn the knob to the OFF position to stop hot water supply.
COFFEE MAKING WITH MEMORY FUNCTION
After pre-heating is completed (indicator lights constantly), press and hold button ; coffee will start flowing from the funnel. When the desired quantity of coffee is made, release button ; the appliance will stop making coffee, an audio signal will be emitted. This means that the time has been memorized.
Next time you press button to make coffee, the process will last for the memorized time (the longest possible time setting is 60 seconds, when the setting is not confirmed for 60 seconds it will reset to default).
NOTE: if you set too short a time, it will not be memorized, the volume of the coffee flowing out in a single operating cycle should be at least 15 ml.
Restoring Factory Settings: simultaneously press and hold buttons and for 3 seconds. An audio signal will be emitted; the factory settings are now restored.
COOLING FUNCTION
When the steam is ready and you wish to make coffee, press button to turn on the heating, as the steam temperature is too high; indicators and will flash rapidly as a warning to cool down the appliance. To do so turn the steam regulator knob to the position; the appliance will start pumping water; the cappuccino tube will release water continuously and cool down. When the two indicators stop flashing rapidly, turn the steam regulator knob to the OFF position to stop the cooling. The appliance is now capable of making coffee as long as the power light is on.
SCALE REMOVAL AND CLEANING FUNCTION
After approximately 500 coffee making or steam foaming cycles you should start the manual scale removal function:
First put a descaling product (approx. 10 grams) into the water tank (2), then fill water to the МАХ mark and turn the steam regulator knob to the position after the pre-heating is over. When the pump starts pumping water, turn the knob to the OFF position from time to time to release small quantities of the descaling solution into the cup. The appliance will stop operating in approximately 2 minutes. When this happens, turn the knob from the OFF to the position; the pump will restart. Repeat the pervious step approximately 5 times to drain all water from the water tank. After that fill the water tank with water to the МАХ mark, turn the steam regulator knob to the position and turn off the steam from time to time, until pump operation and scale removal stops.

DISPOSAL

Upon expiry of its service life the appliance can be disposed of separately from ordinary domestic waste. You can turn it over to a specialized electric and electronic appliance disposal and recycling centre.

The service life of this item is 5 years since the date of sale to the end user, provided the item will be used in strict accordance with the present manual and the applicable technical standards. Upon expiry of the service life please contact the nearest authorized service centre for suggestions as to further operation of the appliance. The manufacturing date of the appliance is integrated into the serial number (digits 2 and 3 – year, digits 4 and 5 – month of manufacture). If any questions related to appliance maintenance should arise, or if the appliance has malfunctions, apply to the CENTEK TM Authorized Service Center. DEAR CONSUMER!
The guarantee period for all appliances amounts to 12 months from the date of sale to the end consumer. With this Warranty Card the Manufacturer confirms the proper condition of the appliance and undertakes to repair, free of charge, all defects caused by the Manufacturer’s default.
GUARANTEE MAINTENANCE TERMS

  1. The guarantee shall be valid if the following documentation conditions are observed:
    • The original Warranty Card shall be filled out correctly and clearly, indicating the of appliance model, serial number and sale date, the stamp of the seller company and signature of its representative shall be available, as well as the stamps on each coupon and the buyer’s signature in the Warranty Card.
    The Manufacturer reserves the right to reject guarantee maintenance if the buyer fails to provide the abovementioned documents or if the information contained therein is incomplete, illegible or ambiguous.

  2. The guarantee shall be valid if the following operation conditions are observed:
    • the appliance is used in strict accordance with the present manual;
    • the safety rules and requirements are observed.

  3. The guarantee does not apply to regular maintenance, cleaning, installation and setup of the appliance at the owner’s location.

  4. The guarantee does not apply in the following cases:
    • mechanical damage;
    • normal wear of the appliance;
    • non-observance of operation requirements or erroneous actions on the part of the user;
    • improper installation or transportation;
    • natural disasters (lightning, fire, flood, etc.), as well as any other causes beyond the Manufacturer’s or Seller’s control;
    • ingress of foreign objects, liquids or insects into the inside of the appliance;
    • repairs or modifications to the appliance by unauthorized persons;
    • use of the appliance for commercial purposes (loads exceeding normal domestic application), connection of the appliance to utility and telecommunication networks incompliant with national technical standards;
    • failure of the following accessories, if replacement of these is allowed by design and does not involve disassembly of the appliance:
    a) remote control units, rechargeable batteries, replaceable batteries (power cells), external power supply units and chargers;
    b) consumables and accessories (packaging, covers, slings, carry bags, mesh screens, blades, flasks, plates, supports, grilles, spits, hoses, tubes, brushes, nozzles, dust collectors, filters, smell absorbers);
    • for battery-powered appliances – operation with inappropriate or depleted batteries;
    • for rechargeable battery-powered appliances – any damage caused by improper battery charging and recharging.

  5. The present guarantee is provided by the Manufacturer in addition to the consumer rights determined by the applicable legislation and does not limit these rights in any way.

  6. The Manufacturer shall not be made liable for possible damage, directly or indirectly inflicted by CENTEK brand products on people, domestic animals, the consumer’s or third persons’ property if such damage is inflicted as the result of non-observance of appliance installation and operation requirements, deliberate or negligent actions (omission) by the consumer or third persons, as well as of force majeure circumstances.

  7. Service centers will only accept appliances in a clean state (there should be no food residues, dust and other contamination on the appliance). The Manufacturer reserves the right to change the design and specifications of the appliance without prior notice.
