SPECIFIC INFORMATION
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Summary
The product is a component of a personal safety system for protection against
the risk of falling from a height used for Rope Courses in conformity to
standard EN 15567-1.
Choice of the lanyard
The lanyards are designed for use in acrobatic parks at high (with maximum
angle of 15°) and for use with pulley in Tyrolienne. In any case of use, the
fall factor should not exceed 1. The user must always remain below the
anchoring point. (fig.1). The lanyards must not be used as industrial lanyards
(EN 354) or for use in via Ferrata (EN 958). Beware of entrapment when using
the single or double lanyard during suspension activities of the user (danger
of strangulation, larynx trauma). The use of gloves is recommended during use.
Never modify the length of the lanyard and never make any knots in it (fig.2).
Connecting to the harness
Check the instructions for use for your harness for the correct connection
point. Connect the long loop of the lanyard to the harness connection point
with a cow hitch (fig.3). Connect an EN 12275 carabiner with an automatic gate
locking device to the narrow loop, or use an EN 17109 interlocking device
(fig.4). Lock the carabiner using a KarStop (ref. 112102) so that the
carabiner always works along its longest side (fig.4).
Progression on cable
- Connect the lanyard to the lifeline using a mobile connection device.
- Proceed, keeping both carabiners hooked to the lifeline (fig.5). While progressing, pass the anchor points on the lifeline with one carabiner at a time, as shown in figures 5a-b-c. Warning: always leave at least one carabiner hooked to the lifeline, danger of death! (fig.6).
- Proceed with the lanyards free to run on the cables (fig.7a). In case of one single cable connect the carabiner as shown in fig.7b.
- The lanyards “Rewind” allows to have the carabiner always closed to the hand.
Progression by pulley (“Tyrolean” or “Zipline”)
- Connect the pulley to the dedicated central webbing or to a dedicated lanyard, and keep the carabiner hooked to the line, positioning first one before and then one after the pulley (fig.8a), or on the dedicated hooks on a “Wing 2” pulley (ref. 1025, fig.8b).
PERIODIC INSPECTION
The safety of users depends upon the continued efficiency and durability of the equipment. In addition to the normal inspection required before, during and after each use, this product must be inspected by a skilled person at an adequate frequency based on its use: every 12 months if used by one person, every 3 months if used by multiple people. The date of first use and all inspections performed thereafter must be recorded on the product lifetime tag. Keep the documentation for inspection and for reference during the product’s entire lifetime. Dispose of the product if its full history cannot be tracked. Do not eliminate or tamper with any marking on the product. Dispose of the product if the marking is illegible. In case of one of the following defects are present, the product should be withdrawn from service immediately:
- presence of cutting and/or burning on the webbing or on the rope
- presence of cutting and/or burning on the seams
- stiffening or thickening of the webbing or the rope.
If the item shows signs of wear or defects, it must be replaced, even if there is only doubt. Each product in the safety system can be damaged during a fall and must be always inspected before reuse. Attention: colors change can indicate chemical contamination. Do not continue to use a product after a major fall because damage may have occurred, even if no external signs are visible. Humidity, intense cold, exposure to UV rays, and ageing due to use can reduce the resistance of the sling.
LIFETIME
The expected lifetime of the product is 5 years from the first date of use; considering storage, in any case, it cannot be used after the seventh year from its manufacture (e.g. year of manufacture 2030, lifetime until the end of 2037). The lifetime is understood to be in the absence of any causes that make it unsuitable for use, and under the condition that periodic inspections are recorded on the lifetime tag at least once every 12 months starting from the date of first use of the product. The following factors can reduce the product life: contact with chemical agents, high temperatures, abrasions, cuts, violent impact, UV rays, moisture, freezing temperatures, sweat, mud, dust, incorrect use, or storage under conditions other than those recommended. If a product is suspected to be no longer safe and reliable, replace the product or contact C.A.M.P. or the distributor before continuing use.
TRANSPORTATION
Protect the product from risks such as those detailed above.
