Information on the product

Intended use
With SOMlink S2 intelligent control technology, there are additional options for adjusting operator features and parameters with a web app using a smartphone, tablet PC or laptop. Communication between the SOMlink S2 and the operators takes place via a radio connection. Settings are made and information is read out within the user interface . The SOMlink S2 may only be used by technical specialists.

Improper use
Any use above and beyond that listed in the section “Intended use” is deemed to be improper. Opening the housing and modifications to the hardware are also deemed to be improper use.

Functional description
With SOMlink intelligent control technology, there are additional options for easily adjusting operator features and parameters with a web app using your smartphone, tablet PC or laptop. As all data are processed and saved in the SOMlink and the additional memory, Memo, there is no data transmission to external servers. The user logs in to the WiFi provided by the SOMlink S2 using a smartphone/tablet or PC, see “4. Initial operation” on page 8. The network name (SSID) and network key (key icon) are printed on the back of the SOMlink. The user interface can then be accessed via the browser or 10.0.0.1). Alternatively, the user interface can be accessed after establishing a connection via the Android app.

Initial operation

Establishing operational status
TIP
So that you have the data to hand for later entry, make a note of the SSID and the WiFi password printed on the back of the device before plugging the SOMlink S2 in.
Plug Inserting

  1. Connect SOMlink S2 and power supply unit.
  2. Switch on voltage supply

After approx. 20 seconds, both the WiFi LED and the status LED light up red

NOTE
In order to establish a connection between the SOMlink S2 and an end device, it is necessary to select one of the options described below.

  1. Download the SOMlink S2 app from the Google PlayStore and install it.
  2. Open the app.
  3. Follow the instructions for establishing a connection.

Establishing a WiFi connection via QR code
NOTE
End devices with Android and iOS can be used to establish a connection by this method.
QR Code Scanning

  1. With the end device, scan the QR code on the back of the SOMlink S2.
    Connection

  2. Confirm that the device is to connect to the SOMlink S2.
    ⇒ Important for Android devices:
    As this is a local connection, it may be necessary at this point to confirm that the connection is to be established, although the WiFi provided by the SOMlink S2 has no internet connection.

  3. Open browser and access either
    http://somlink.lokal or IP 10.0.0.1.

Establishing a WiFi connection via the network settings of the end device
TIP
All WiFi-enabled end devices, irrespective of their operating system, can be used to establish a connection by this method.
Network Settings

  1. Open the network settings of the end device.
    ⇒ The name of the SOMlink S2 network appears in the list of available WiFi networks. It matches the SSID printed on the type plate (SOMlink-XXXXXX)
    Select SOMlink

  2. Select the SOMlink S2 network.
    Enter Password

  3. Enter the password and confirm.

    ⇒ WiFi LED switches from red to green
    Linking

  4. Open browser and access either
    http://somlink.lokal or IP 10.0.0.1.
