The generic mass production USB cable is not optimised for audio use, data and power cables are all bunched up together, conductor quality is sub-par, this is all surrounded by insufficient shielding. Each of these negatively impact USB signal integrity, which severely degrades sound quality. The iFi Mercury3.0 USB cable employs heavy OFHC continuous cast copper silver matrix conductors for the best possible signal transfer. The construction is a custom minimum inductance parallel type with quadruple-shields; this protects the cable from RFI and EMI noise to provide the cleanest transfer medium possible for the USB signal.
With custom-machined FINAL connectors and an even better RF3 filter design, sonically, the Mercury3.0 USB computer audio cable along with its sibling, the Gemini3.0 set a new standard for USB3.0 and USB2.0.
