This manual applies to Jet Domestic Potable Expansion Vessels 50L,
60L, 80L,100L, 200L, 300L, 500L, 750L, 1000L & 1500L.
The Jet Potable Expansion Vessels are compliant with EU Directive
2014/68/EU, EN 13831 & WRAS approved. Certification can be made available on request.

General
Items included are one Jet Expansion Vessel (A) and one operating /maintenance manual (B). Information on the manufacturer, year of construction and other technical data is displayed on the product label (A).

Application
Jet Expansion Vessels are for use with potable water systems and can also be used in sealed systems with a maximum glycol 50% by volume) Min / Max System Temperature: See vessel label.

Safety

  • Install and operate Center Expansion Vessels only if the vessel is free from visible damage.
  • In order to keep within operating parameters, appropriate safety accessories must be fitted.
  • Disregard of this manual may lead to defects in the vessel, impairment of its function, personal injury or damage to property.
  • To limit the maximum pressure in the mains water supply to the Center Expansion Vessel, a pressure reducing valve must be fitted upstream in the pipeline after the water meter.

Installation
Jet Expansion Vessel 50 – 1500 Litres must be installed upright

  1. Apply (PTFE) synthetic tape (C) to the connection of the vessel (do not use hemp under any circumstances!).
  2. In case of potable water installations fit the vessel directly to the cold-water feed pipe.

First Use

  1. Shut off the mains water pipe and remove pressure from the water system.
  2. Set the pre-charge of the expansion vessel 0.2 Bar lower than the set pressure of the pressure reducing valve (please see the vessel label for the factory pre-charge):
    • Remove the cover (D) and the valve cap (E)
    • Measure the pressure (P).
    • If the pressure is too high at the gas top-up valve (S), release some gas. If the pressure is too low, top it up, e.g. with a nitrogen canister.
  3. Put the valve cap (E) and safety cap (D) in again.
  4. Re-open the water pipe.
  5. Check the seals on tightness.

Maintenance

The expansion vessel must be checked annually. Should water escape from the safety valve, proceed as follows:

  • Check the outward condition of the vessel for damage or corrosion.
  • Disconnect the vessel and check the gas pre-charge and, if necessary, set to the correct pressure as described in point 2: Installation.

In case the vessel or diaphragm is damaged:

  • Shut off the vessel from the system.
  • Drain the vessel.
  • Exchange the vessel or diaphragm.
  • Check the gas pre-charge and if necessary set to the required value as described in point 2 Installation.

Caution: The water in the vessel may be hot! Only check the system when the water has cooled off.

De-installation

  1. Shut off the water supply and drain the vessel on the water side.
  2. Remove the cover (D) and the valve cap (E).
  3. Vent and remove pressure (P) at the gas top-up valve (S).
  4. Unscrew the vessel (A).

Caution: Be careful, the weight of the vessel may be greater than expected, as it may be filled with water.
