Important Notes

  • Do not use a power drill for installation.
  • Install and test the lock with the door open to avoid being locked out.
  • Dry, wet, oily, or dirty fingers may affect the identification of fingerprints .The elderly and children have shallow fingerprints, which may make the recognition system less sensitive.
  • The strength of the Bluetooth signal can improve by shortening the distance between your phone and the device.
  • Please read all the instructions before contacting customer support.
  • Please contact customer support before returning the product to the store.
  • Follow the instructions in sequential order!
  • This lock is designed for the following operating temperatures:
    • Outside: -4 °F(-20 °C ) to 149 °F (65 °C)
    • Inside: 14 °F (-10 °C) to 131 °F (55 °C)
  • Suggest to use 4*AAA A1kaline Battery, or manufacture suggested Lithium Battery. Don’t use Rechargeable Battery.

Checking & Preparation

Install Spindle in advance & Test emergency Key Unlocking 

  • Fix Spindle and the Front Knob with the Headless Screw A as shown.
  • Pinch the Spindle firmly and turn the Front Knob in two directions, and the Spindle can be free in two directions.
  • Lift the Battery Cover, insert the Emergency Key to twist it 90° counterclockwise, turning the Front Knob in both directions can gang the Spindle.

Preparation for the replacement the Handle

  • Place the Front Knob on your door or your lock as shown, and simulate locking and unlocking to confirm that Smart Knob won’t bump the door frame.
  • Door Thickness ( 1’/,Z/30mm-2’/;’/60mm).
  • Remove your original handle and confirm that the Spindle can be inserted into the cross hole of the Latch.
    NOTE: The Backset ?40mm meets the usage standard of Smart Knob, but it may affect your door opening and closing due to the design of the door frames and Lock Backplate.

Preparing Door
Check the door’s dimensions.

  • Step1
    Measure to confirm that the door is between P/,t- 23/a” (30 mm-60 mm) thick.

  • Step 2
    Measure to confirm that the diameter of the hole is 21/a” (53 mm).

  • Step 3
    Measure to confirm that the backset is either 2 % “or 2 3/,;: (60 mm or70 mm).

  • Step 4
    Measure to confirm that the diameter of the hole in the door edge is 1″ (25 mm).

  • Step 5
    Measure to confirm the depth of the hole in the frame is at least 1″(25 mm).

Installing Batteries

  • Pull out the battery cover.

  • Install batteries and tighten the Battery Cover Screw.

Adjust the Latch
Install the Latch into the door. If the Latch hole is not in the center of the door hole, use the Spindle to push it to the center of the door hole. Attention to the direction of the Latch.

NOTE: Latch is set for 2 31a “backset initially. It can be adjusted to 2 ¾”if needed. Please use the spindle insert into the hole of the latch to dial it to your desired length.

Installing Latch
Insert the Latch into the door hole and tighten it with Self-tapping Screws (Attention to the Latch’s direction).

Installing Front Knob

  • Install the 2 Guide Posts on the 3 Front Knob
    (The 4 Mounting Plate can be up or down, and you can choose it as you like.)

  • Insert the Spindle to the end along the Latch hole, and ensure the 2 Guide Posts are inserted into the two round holes on the Latch.

Installing Rear Knob

  • Put the Spindle into the O Mounting Plate, and tighten the 0 Knob Glove.
  • Tighten the O Headless Screw B.

Installing Strike Plate
Please press the Strike Plate into the slot and fix it with Self-tapping Screws as shown.

  • Step1
    Scan above QR code to download the App, or search “U-tec”in App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

  • Step2
    Open the App, register U-tec account and log in the account.

  • Step3
    Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone, stay near the lock
    (within 10 feet) and search the lock in the App.

  • Step4
    Pair the lock in the App and start to use it.
    Note: Please refer to the guide in U-tec App for more information.

Using Your Lock
  1. Permisson Setting
    • Admin Code
      Ad min Code must be created first prior to any other programming. Then use the Ad min account to add or delete the other accounts. Enter 4-8 digit code as Ad min code on the App.

  *  **Fingerprint Recognition**
  * Place an authorized finger on the Fingerprint Reader to access it.

  * For a higher recognition rate, please try to cover the Fingerprint Reader completely with your finger.
  * Make sure that your finger and Fingerprint Reader are clean and dry. For Fingerprint Reader, use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe off any dirt or debris.
  * Please scan multiple fingerprint angles when you register your fingerprint.
  * While scanning your finger, you shouldn’t tap too quickly or move your finger around.
  * If you have trouble enrolling one finger, try another.

  *  **Add keycard**
  * Add your Keycard on APP by placing the Key Fob in front of the sensor.
  * Please place it at the center to cover the sensor. Next step, add the NFC Sticker Tag at the same way .

  1. Unlock From Outside

    • User code
      Enter user code and press button and rotate the Front Knob to unlock.

    • Fingerprint
      Place your finger on Fingerprint Reader and rotate the Front Knob to unlock.

    • Key Fob & NFC Sticker Tag 
      Place your Key Fob or NFC Sticker Tag on Fingerprint Reader and rotate the Front Knob to unlock.

    • Smartphone
      Use your smartphone to unlock. As Bluetooth access, the smartphone must be within 5 meters of the Smart Knob and ensure Bluetooth and the device are connected.

  2. Lock From Outside
    As same as above unlocking methods, only rotate the Front Knob in the opposite direction.

  3. Unlock From Inside
    Rotate the Knob Glove to unlock.

  4. Reset the Lock

    • Select the device on the App and click” Remove Device ” to reset your lock.
    • If the device cannot connected to the APP, please press the button on the device to reset it: +666+ +Admin Code+ .
      NOTE: All data will be erased if you reset the device3. to Factory Default Setting.
  5. Low Batteries Alarm

    • Low Battery Alert: When the battery is almost dead, the red light will flash for 1 second after unlocking. It can be used approximately 30 days normally after the initial alert.
    • Low Battery Locked Status: If the batteries aren’t replaced in time, the LED Indicator will flash RED 3 times when unlocking, but it cannot be accessed.
  6. Replace Batteries
    When you see the message “Low battery”, you should replace the batteries. Use 4 high-quality alkaline AAA batteries for replacement.

  7. Emergency Key Access
    Lift the Battery Cover, insert the key into the knob, turn it 90° counterclockwise, and then turn the knob to open the door.

  8. Trial & Error Lock

    • Dead Status: Smart Knob will reject identifying any fingerprint, Key Fob, or code after repeated identification errors, which can effectively prevent unauthorized members from violent unlocking.
    • Trigger Conditions: Smart Knob will lock for 5 minutes after 10 consecutive failed accesses (fingerprint/Key Fob/code) within 2 minutes. The device will flash the RED indicator 5 times for any access during the period.
    • Recovery: You must wait 5 minutes or unlock it using the App.

Anti-peep Keypad
The lock supports up to 16-digit Vague Code. Just enter any 16-digit code, as long as a correct code is included in what you entered, you can open the door.

FAQ

  1. What if I lost the paired smartphone?
    Please go to www.u-tec.com/myutec.html or login U-tec App via another smartphone to change your U-tec Account I password.

  2. How can I unlock ULTRALOQ Smart Knob if the battery runs out?

    • There will be low battery alert on the lock and App when battery is low. Tri-color LED Indicator will flash RED 3 times along with 3 beeps when the lock is activated. Please replace batteries.
    • Use the backup key to unlock.
  3. What’s the difference between Admin user and Normal User ?

    • Admin is the person who owns Smart Knob and registers it in U-tec App originally. Ad min can always unlock via fingerprint, code or App. Ad min can add or delete Ad min and Users, control all lock settings and view logs.
    • Normal User can always unlock via fingerprint, code or App.
  4. What is the log capacity for Smart Knob?
    Smart Knob supports maximum 200 logs. The latest log will replace the oldest one once log is full.

  5. What is the user capacity for Smart Knob?
    Smart Knob supports maximum 50 users and each user can register 1 code and 2 fingerprints.
