Micro SIM Card in a HOBO MicroRX RX210x Station

HOBO MicroRX (RX210x) Station

The HOBO MicroRX (RX210x) Station is a device that allows users to monitor and collect data from various sensors. It is equipped with a micro SIM card slot for cellular connectivity, enabling remote data access and transmission.

Product Usage Instructions

Installing a SIM Card

  1. Ensure that the station is powered down. Disconnect the battery cable, solar panel cable, and AC adapter (if applicable).
  2. Gently slide the micro SIM card into the SIM port and push it in until it clicks into place.
  3. Reconnect the battery and any charging device (if applicable). The LCD display will show the message “Initializing System” as the system powers up. Wait for a checkmark to appear next to “System”.

Using HOBOconnect

  1. Open HOBOconnect.
  2. Select the tile for your logger.
  3. Select “Configure Connection”.
  4. Under “Cellular Configuration”, enter the APN (Access Point Name) for the SIM card. You can also provide a username and password if required.

Using HOBOware

  1. Open HOBOware.
  2. From the Device menu, select “Manage RX Station”.
  3. Note: For Windows users, if prompted by Windows Firewall, select “Domain networks” and click “Allow Access”.
  4. In the RX Station Manager, click the “Actions” button and select “Network Access”.
  5. Enter the APN for the SIM card. You can also provide a username, password, and phone number if necessary.
  6. Click “Save” and then click “Done”.
  7. Click “Close” in the RX Station Manager.
  8. Disconnect the USB cable from the station and disconnect the battery cable, solar panel cable, and AC adapter (if applicable).

Installing a Micro SIM Card in a HOBO® MicroRX (RX210x) Station

Requirements

  • HOBO RX2100 MicroRX Station
  • USB cable
  • One of the following:
    • HOBOconnect version 1.5 or higher or
    • HOBOware® version 3.7.23 or earlier
  • User-provided data plan and SIM requirements:
    • Micro SIM for 4G LTE Network; supports UMTS/HSPA+ at 800, 850, 900, 1800, 1900, or 2100 MHz and LTE at 700, 800, 850, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100, or 2600 MHz
    • The SIM must already be activated and unlocked.
    • APN for the associated carrier

To install a SIM card

  2. Carefully slide the micro SIM card into the SIM port and gently push it into place (it makes an audible click when it is properly seated).Micro-SIM-Card-in-a-HOBO-MicroRX-RX210-Station-FIG-2
  3. Plug in the battery and any charging device (if applicable). The LCD displays the message Initializing System while the system powers up. Wait until you see a checkmark next to System.
  4. Connect the station to the computer with a USB cable. It may take a few minutes for the device driver to be installed on Windows® if this is the first time connecting the device to the computer.

If you are using HOBOconnect

  1. Open HOBOconnect.
  2. Select the tile for your logger.
  3. Select Configure Connection.
  4. Under Cellular Configuration, enter the APN for the SIM card. You can also enter a username and password.

If you are using HOBOware

  1. Open HOBOware.
  2. From the Device menu, select Manage RX Station. Note for Windows: You may see a warning that Windows Firewall has blocked some features. Select Domain networks and click Allow Access.

  5. Click Save and then click Done.
  6. Click Close in the RX Station Manager.
  7. Disconnect the USB cable from the station and unplug the battery cable and the solar panel cable and AC adapter (if applicable).
  8. Once the LCD is blank, plug in the battery and any charging device (if applicable). The LCD displays the message Initializing System while the system powers up. Wait until you see a checkmark next to System. Your station should now be ready to connect with HOBOlink®.
