Placement and fastening instructions
-
Place the seat on top of the rear rack in the desired location (A). Ensure that all the rubber feet are fully inserted inside the outer rack rails (B) and not resting on top and that the seat base is flush against the rack top.
-
Ensure the tie straps and buckles are on the outside of the rack and not trapped underneath.
The four rubber feet are spaced at a length and width to fit perfectly between the MIK cross braces on top of the rack
platform for the most secure fitment (C). -
Thread the straps around the upper rack rails (D), under the top platform, and through the corresponding buckle (E).
-
Pull the strap tight and fasten the Velcro tabs .
-
The tie straps are adjustable, allowing the buckle’s position to be moved. Some pad locations may place straps close to the fender and cause difficulty in fastening or removing the Velcro. Adjusting the tie strap may make it easier to access the buckle.
-
CAUTION: The seat can be installed so the rubber feet straddle the MIK rails and are not supported front-to-back by the rails (F). Installing the seat in this position may cause the seat to shift under acceleration. If the seat is installed in this orientation, ensure your passenger is holding the handlebar securely and is prepared for any acceleration.
-
The seat base has an asymmetrical design with no defined front and back to increase compatibility options. The seat may be placed in either direction along the rack.
-
In certain locations, the seat straps may interfere with a rack support. Rotating the seat 180° will move the straps to better locations.
Safety information
-
WARNING! The Globe passenger seat is intended for use on Globe bicycles only.
-
When using the passenger seat with the passenger handlebar, position the seat first, then position the passenger handlebar as close to the front of the seat pad as possible.
-
WARNING! Before your first ride and regularly thereafter,
ensure the passenger seat is secured to the rear rack. -
WARNING: The area where you ride may require specific safety devices. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the laws of the area where you ride and
to comply with all applicable laws, including properly equipping yourself, your passengers, and your bicycle as the law requires. -
WARNING: You and your passenger must always wear
a cycling helmet that meets the latest certification standards and is appropriate for the type of riding you do. Most serious bicycle injuries involve head injuries that might have been avoided if the rider had worn an appropriate helmet. -
WARNING! Riding with passenger on your bicycle affects the handling by altering the center of gravity, weight, and balance. It may also negatively impact your cornering ability, increase your necessary stopping distance, and reduce your ability to slow down and maneuver, especially at higher speeds or down a steep grade. All of this can result in a loss of control, potentially causing serious injury and/or death. You should also become familiar with and practice riding with the passenger in a controlled environment away from traffic.
