Installing the finger guards may be easier with the rear wheel removed. Read
the rear wheel removal and replacement section of the User Manual for more
information on how to safely remove the rear wheel.
The tie straps ends should be tightened toward the outside of the frame.
Failure to do so can make adjustment and removal more difficult.
Assembly Instructions
The wheel covers are mounted to the rear of your Globe bicycle using Velcro
straps and the upper covers are clipped directly to each side of the rear
fender.
The following instructions guide you through assembling the upper covers and
wheel protectors securely to your bicycle. Install the upper cover
- Slide the upper cover (A) behind the frame and clip the cover onto the rear fender (B).
- Thread two zip ties (C) through the mounting holes (D) and secure the upper cover to the upper frame rail (E).
Install the wheel protector
- Thread three tie straps (A) between the upper frame rail and the upper wheel.
- Slide the tie strap through the buckle (B). The wheel cover should hang loosely with approximately ¼ inch gap (C) between the cover and the frame then fix the upper tie straps (D).
Do not over-tighten the top straps as this causes difficulties tightening the lower and rear straps.
- Attach the three lower straps and fix them (E).
- Attach the rear strap and fix it (F).
- Check that all seven straps are properly tightened and secured.
- Repeat the process for the other side.
CAUTION: Over tightening may cause premature wear or tearing of the
plastic cover.
The plastic buckles can rotate to provide a cleaner look. The bottom front
strap and buckle may cause heal clearance issues when pedaling, make sure the
buckle is out of the way.
Safety Information
WARNING! The Globe rear wheel protector is intended for use on Globe Haul
Short Tail bicycles only.
WARNING! Before your first ride and regularly thereafter, ensure the rear
wheel protectors are securely tightened.
WARNING: The area where you ride may require specific safety devices. It
is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the laws of the area where
you ride and to comply with all applicable laws, including properly equipping
yourself, your passengers, and your bicycle as the law requires.
WARNING! Riding with passenger on your bicycle affects the handling by
altering the center of gravity, weight, and balance. It may also negatively
impact your cornering ability, increase your necessary stopping distance, and
reduce your ability to slow down and maneuver, especially at higher speeds or
down a steep grade. All of this can result in a loss of control, potentially
causing serious injury and/or death. You should also become familiar with and
practice riding with the passenger in a controlled environment away from
traffic.
