Important safety measures

  • Read all the safety instructions carefully to fully understand how to use the pressure cooker.
  • This pressure cooker should only be used for home food preparation. Do not use this pressure cooker for any other purpose.
  • Handle the pressure cooker with the utmost care. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handles. If necessary, use protection.
  • Constant vigilance is necessary when using the pressure cooker in the vicinity of children. It should never be used by children.
  • Remember that certain foods, such as fruit juice, berries, small grains, popcorn, alcohol, and others can damage the safety valves.
  • before use, check that all valves are clean and working properly. See “Instructions for use”.
  • Do not use the pressure cooker to fry food.
  • Never cover the safety valves.
  • Do not put the pressure cooker inside a hot oven.
  • never try to open the lid while the cooker is in use. Do not open the pressure cooker until it has cooled down and all pressure has been released. If you have difficulty opening the lid, that may indicate that the pressure cooker is still pressurized. Do not force it open. Any pressure in the cooker can be dangerous.
  • You will need to be extremely careful when moving a pressure cooker containing hot food or liquid.
  • This utensil cooks under pressure. Improper use can cause burns. Make sure the cooker is properly closed before heating. See “Instructions for use”.
  • The food or water should not exceed 2/3 of the total volume of the pressure cooker. Rice and pulses should not exceed 1/3 of the total volume. For these foods, the ideal ratio is 1/4.
  • Hand wash after use and dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use the pressure cooker without adding water, as it could seriously damage the cooker.
  • Use the heat sources) in accordance with the instructions for use.
  • After cooking meat with skin (beef tongue, for example), which can swell due to pressure, do not pierce the meat while swollen, as it could burn.
  • When cooking food in paste form, gently shake the pressure cooker before opening the lid to avoid splashing.
  • Do not operate the safety systems in any way other than in accordance with the maintenance guidelines in the instructions for use.
  • Use only components from the manufacturer according to the corresponding model. In particular, use a body and lid from the same manufacturer, the compatibility of which has been confirmed by the latter.

 Instructions for use

  • Before using it for the first time
  • Please read this instruction leaflet carefully.
  • Remove any packaging materials and advertising labels from your pressure cooker.
  • Assemble the 2 side handles and the respective screws that you will find inside the cooker.

Cooking

  1. Check the valves are completely clean.
    • The openings of the pressure regulator valve must not be clogged.
    • The safety valve plunger should move when pressed down.
  2. The content placed inside the pressure cooker must not exceed 2/3 total capacity (see table in point 4). Do not fill the cooker more than half full for rice and pulses.
  3. Before closing, turn the knob counterclockwise to tighten the lid flange. Then slide the lid horizontally along the edge of the cooker until the flange rests on the stainless steel handles. Check the lid is properly seated.
  4. Turn the tightening knob to the right until the flange is correctly positioned at the top of the stainless steel handles. Turn the knob until it completes at least two turns in order to ensure the sealing. Note that if the pressure cooker is not securely fastened, steam may escape or drip from the edge of the lid.
  5. Position the body of the pressure regulator valve by pressing against the bracket.
  6. The pressure cooker is ready to use.
  7. Always use the Bakelite side handles when moving the pressure cooker.
  8. The pressure cooker should always be placed on a horizontal surface. Place the pressure cooker on a stove with a diameter no larger than the diameter of the base.
  9. During cooking, it is normal for steam to come out of the pressure regulator valve. Once steam starts coming out, start counting the minutes to know when the food is ready. Lower the heat to be more fuel efficient from that paint.BOJ-Global-1905-Classic-Pressure-Cooker-fig-1

Warning

  • Do not leave the pressure cooker unattended during cooking.
  • Do not touch any metal parts during and immediately after cooking.
  • Keep children away while the pressure cook function iS in use.
  • If while using the pressure cooker, the pressure regulator valve does not release steam, check whether the heat source has sufficient power. If the phenomenon persists, depressurize the cooker and check:
  • If there is sufficient liquid inside the cooker;
  • If the pressure cooker is tightly closed;
  • If the pressure regulator valve is unclogged;
  • If the gasket or the edge of the cooker is damaged.
  • During the first minutes of cooking, it is normal for the pressure regulator valve not to release steam or do so intermittently.
  • If steam comes out of the sides of the cooker and/or the safety valve, remove the cooker from the heat source, depressurize it, and check:
  • if the cooker is tightly closed. Open and close it again;
  • If the pressure regulator valve is unclogged;
  • If the gasket is clean, positioned correctly, and shows no signs of deterioration;
  • If the rim of the cooker body does not show signs of deterioration that prevents the effective adjustment of the gasket.

 Finishing cooking

  1. When cooking is finished, disconnect the heat source and remove the pressure regulator valve. Wait a few minutes for all the steam to come out.
  2. Clean the pressure regulator valve bracket with a jet of water or with the help of a wire. Check that it has been completely unclogged.
    WARNING: Do not force open the pressure cooker during the previous step.

Opening the lid

  • When all the steam has come out, carefully turn the knob to open the cooker.
  • Release the lid carefully, without forcing it, as there may still be some steam inside.

Maintenance

Pressure cooker body
Wash it by hand with dish soap and then dry thoroughly. Be careful not to use metallic objects.

Gasket
Use mild soap to clean it and then dry thoroughly. Check if the gasket is in place and tight on the cover. Pressure regulator valve and safety valve Check the safety valves are clean and working properly (see instructions for use). If not, clean them thoroughly or contact our technical service.

Locking system
If you have trouble tightening the lid, lubricate the central screw of the pressure cooker with cooking oil.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS
Replace the gasket once a year or at least every 2 years. The pressure cooker must be serviced after 10 years of use.
