Description:
This generic educational seminar will provide architects and specifiers with information on how to specify and use tile and stone to promote a healthy building environment. Life cycle analysis of various finish types will be contrasted with that of ceramic tile and stone. Learn how ceramic tile and stone fits in with the green building movement. In addition, architects and specifiers will also learn how to select and specify healthy installation materials for tile and stone.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the program, the participant will be able to:
- Understand the benefits of using tile and stone as a “GREEN” finish material.
- Know how tile and stone, and their associated setting materials, qualify for LEED points according to LEED-NC v.2.2.
- Compare the life-cycle costs, durability, and maintenance issues between the most popular floor finish materials.
- Recognize the value of independent certification when selecting “GREEN” products.
- Know where to access resources for innovative design and specification information.
Approach:
A PowerPoint presentation that incorporates photo images, project
installations and computer animation will be used.
There will be a questions and answer period at the end of the program,
however, the program is designed to be interactive, and questions are
encouraged throughout as well.
A/V Needed:
Electric power and a screen, video system or blank wall for the PowerPoint
presentation. (The CES facilitator will provide the laptop and projector).
Target Audience:
Architects, Engineers, Specifiers, Owners, and other Design Professionals in
the commercial, residential, and industrial markets.
Facilitator Qualifications:
The CES facilitators receive in-house training on CES guidelines and
presentation skills. All have extensive construction industry experience and
up to 25 years in the tile and stone industry.
Cost:
Not Applicable. There is no fee for bringing this program into a firm or
chapter meeting.
