Product Usage Instructions

To use the Smart7TM Lid, follow these instructions:

  1. Ensure the Smart7 Lid is properly installed on the vehicle.
  2. If necessary, configure the Smart7 Lid using a serial connection or an over-the-air (OTA) LTE IP connection.
  3. To track the vehicle, query, update, or configure the Smart7 Lid through the server application.
  4. For reporting during a trip, the Smart7 Lid provides GPS/location tracking, integrated ABS monitoring (compatible with most ABS manufacturers), and trailer precheck features.
  5. To know the location of your trailers at all times, rely on the high-performance GPS tracking feature.
  6. For trailer prechecks, you can schedule or perform remote/on-demand prechecks of trailer sensors. Alternatively, conduct an onsite live precheck prior to tractor hookup.

  • The Smart7 Lid appears to the user of a server application as a single endpoint device. It can be queried, updated, and configured either through a serial connection or an over-the air (OTA) LTE IP connection.
  • The Smart7 Lid presents itself over the connections as an enhanced cellular modem with attached functional elements. These elements include:
  1. GPS location engine
  2. General Purpose Bidirectional I/O (GPIO) pins
  3. Relay drive pin output
  4. Serial UART port
  5. CAN Communication (optional)
  6. BLE 5.0

The Smart7 Lid ships from the factory pre-configured for a specific set of functions and is completely configurable in the field, while providing support for external control through a Phillips Connect proprietary set of AT commands. Supported features include the following:

An integrated cellular gateway provides continuous 4G-LTE connectivity to the trailer. A multicarrier SIM assures comprehensive coverage.
