  • Extension cords (or longer detachable power-supply cords) are available and are not prohibited from being used when care is exercised in their use
  • When an extension cord is used:
  1. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord shall be no less than the marked electrical rating of the product;
  2. When the product is of the grounded type, the extension cord shall be a grounding-type 3-wire cord; and

General Tips

  • The vacuum sealing process extends the life of food by removing most of the air from the sealed bag/container. This reduced oxidation, which affects nutritional value, flavor and overall quality. Removing air can also inhibit growth of microorganisms, which can cause problems under certain conditions.

  • Leave enough empty space in the open end of the bag so that it can be placed in the vacuum chamber area without creating wrinkles or ripples.

  • Press the bag to discharge extra air from it before vacuuming for smoother operation.

  • Wait 30 seconds between seals to allow the product to cool.

  • Small amounts of liquids, crumbs or food particles could be pulled into the vacuum chamber during vacuuming. To avoid this, freeze moist and juicy food, place a folded paper on the inside a bag.

  • Avoid overfilling a bag with powdery or fine-grained food. Alternatively, place a coffee filter inside a bag before vacuuming.

  • Apply a thorn-proof package or an extra vacuum bag for bags with sharp bones while vacuuming.

  • Vacuum packing only extends shelf life of perishable food in the freezer or refrigerator, but does not preserve it.

  • Do not vacuum package fresh fruits and vegetables, as they might emit nitrogen and cause rupture and leakage in the bag during vacuuming. Cooked vegetables e.g. boiled carrots can be vacuum packed.

  • Liquid needs to be cooled before vacuum packaging.
