HONDA MY22 Apple CarPlay Audio System

Product Information

The product is an audio system that supports Apple CarPlay. When you connect an Apple CarPlay-compatible iPhone to the system via the 1.5A USB port, you can use the audio/information screen to make phone calls, listen to music, view maps (navigation), and access messages. The system has two USB ports, but only the front USB port enables Apple CarPlay operation. The product also supports navigation system functionality and allows you to use Apple Maps for navigation. However, only one navigation system (pre-installed navigation or Apple CarPlay) can give directions at a time.

Apple CarPlay requires a compatible iPhone with an active cellular connection and data plan. Certain user and vehicle information, such as vehicle location, speed, and status, will be transmitted to your iPhone to enhance the Apple CarPlay experience. It is important to note that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto cannot run at the same time. The availability and functionality of Apple CarPlay may be subject to changes in operating systems, hardware, software, technology, and governmental regulations.

Product Usage Instructions

To use Apple CarPlay with the audio system, follow these steps:

1. Park your vehicle in a safe place.
2. Connect your iPhone to the front USB port using a USB cable.
3. On the audio/information screen, navigate to the Apple CarPlay menu screen.
4. From the Apple CarPlay menu screen, you can access different features:
   • Phone: Access the contact list, make phone calls, or listen to voice mail.
   • Messages: Check and reply to text messages, or have messages read to you.
   • Music: Play music stored on your iPhone.
   • Maps: Display Apple Maps and use the navigation function.
5. To go back to the Home screen, press the Apple CarPlay icon.
6. To go back to the Apple CarPlay Dashboard screen, press the back icon.
7. To go back to the Apple CarPlay menu screen, press the menu icon.

Before using Apple CarPlay, ensure that your iPhone is compatible (iPhone 5 or newer versions with iOS 8.4 or later) and running the latest operating system. It is recommended to refer to the Apple homepage for details on countries and regions where Apple CarPlay is available, as well as information on compatible apps.

Note: Consent will be required to share certain user and vehicle information with your iPhone for enhancing the Apple CarPlay experience. You can choose to enable this consent once or always, or cancel it.

Apple CarPlay

If you connect an Apple CarPlay-compatible iPhone to the system via the 1.5A USB port, you can use the audio/information screen, instead of the iPhone display, to make a phone call, listen to music, view maps (navigation), and access messages.

Apple CarPlay Menu

• Phone
  Access the contact list, make phone calls, or listen to voice mail.

• Messages
  Check and reply to text messages, or have messages read to you.

• Music
  Play music stored on your iPhone.

Only iPhone 5 or newer versions with iOS 8.4 or later are compatible with Apple CarPlay.
We recommend using the latest OS.
Park in a safe place before connecting your iPhone to Apple CarPlay and when launching any compatible apps.
To use Apple CarPlay, connect the USB cable to the front USB port. The USB port located in the center console storage will not enable Apple CarPlay operation.

To directly access the Apple CarPlay phone function, press Phone on the home screen. While connected to Apple CarPlay, calls are only made through Apple CarPlay. If you want to make a call with Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, turn Apple CarPlay OFF or detach the USB cable from your iPhone.

When your iPhone is connected to Apple CarPlay, it is not possible to use Bluetooth® Audio or Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®. However, other previously paired phones can stream audio via Bluetooth® while Apple CarPlay is connected.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto cannot run at the same time.

• Maps
  Display Apple Maps and use the navigation function just as you would on your iPhone.

Models with navigation system
Only one navigation system (pre-installed navigation or Apple CarPlay) can give directions at a time. When you are using one system, directions to any prior destination set on the other system will be canceled, and the system you are currently using will direct you to your destination.

Apple CarPlay Operating Requirements & Limitations
Apple CarPlay requires a compatible iPhone with an active cellular connection and data plan. Your carrier’s rate plans will apply.
Changes in operating systems, hardware, software, and other technology integral to providing Apple CarPlay functionality, as well as new or revised governmental regulations, may result in a decrease or cessation of Apple CarPlay functionality and services. Honda cannot and does not provide any warranty or guarantee of future Apple CarPlay performance or functionality.
It is possible to use 3rd party apps if they are compatible with Apple CarPlay. Refer to the Apple homepage for information on compatible apps.

Setting Up Apple CarPlay

After you have connected your iPhone to the system via the 1.5A USB port, use the following procedure to set up Apple CarPlay. Use of Apple CarPlay will result in the transmission of certain user and vehicle information (such as vehicle location, speed, and status) to your iPhone to enhance the Apple CarPlay experience. You will need to consent to the sharing of this information on the audio/information screen.

Enabling Apple CarPlay

Cancel: Does not allow this consent. Enable once: Allows only once. (Prompt shows again next time.)
Always enable: Allows anytime. (Prompt does not show again.)
You may change the consent settings under the Smartphone settings menu.

Only initialize Apple CarPlay when you are safely parked.
When Apple CarPlay first detects your iPhone, you will need to set up your iPhone. Refer to the instruction manual that came with your iPhone.

Use of user and vehicle information
The use and handling of user and vehicle information transmitted to/from your iPhone by Apple CarPlay is governed by the Apple iOS terms and conditions and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Operating Apple CarPlay with Siri

Press and hold the talk button to activate Siri.

Below are examples of questions and commands for Siri:

• What movies are playing today?
• Call dad at work.
• What song is this?
• How’s the weather tomorrow?
• Read my latest email.
• Find a table for four tonight in Chicago.
