The new battery chargers AkkuEnergy are completely new developed electronic battery chargers, which change completely the charging of batteries.
The chargers are suitable for charging of traditional lead-acid batteries and the latest generation of lead-acid batteries, especially for the long-term maintenance of charge, such as for the whole season. During the whole period in which the vehicle (e.g. car or boat) is out of service and the battery should be constantly monitored and guaranteed for maintenance of charge, the charger can be connected without the risk that the battery will be damaged.
The chargers have been developed for the automotive industry, but are also suitable for other applications in the sectors of sports and leisure, including motorbikes, scooters, sports cars, snowmobiles and lawn tractors. Additional applications include industrial vehicles, agricultural vehicles, boats and caravans.
Ideal for all lead-acid batteries with free electrolyte (WET) or with firm electrolyte (DRY), such as hermetically closed battery types (GEL, AGM and MF).
All loading parameters are set via the function keys on the control panel. Depending on the model, the following options are available:

– Battery type (with free electrolyte WET or with firm electrolyte GEL).
– Type of vehicle depending on battery power.

The chargers have indicator lights and a beep, which give an alarm in case of reverse of polarity, broken battery and wrong voltage.
The chargers are made from insulated material and can be hung on the wall. (Fig. 9 Mounting kit not included in scope of delivery) They have a high degree of protection against weather/moisture and are protected against overheating and short circuit. The delivery package contains the cable with clips as well as the complete set of accessories. (Fig. 5-7)

CHARGING CYCLES

The charging cycles of the new battery chargers AkkuEnergy were developed to optimize the loading of all commercial batteries. The different construction of the batteries which are available in trade today (Dry, Wet, Gel, AGM) require different charging characteristics because only in this way a correct and complete charge is guaranteed. The chargers AkkuEnergy extend the life of the battery, as they guarantee the correct charging cycle for each battery.

Model: 12V 3.SA for batteries from lAh up to ll0Ah (art. 927 080)
Model: 12V 6.SA for batteries with 30Ah to 190Ah (art. 927130)

The control and procedure of the charging cycle is controlled by a microprocessor. The chargers of the series AkkuEnergy have charging cycles, which differ depending on the type of battery to be charged (DRY/ GEL or WET /AGM ). Each charging cycle is divided into six or seven phases, namely two diagnostic phases and four or five charging phases as specified by the standard DIN 41772 (Fig. 3-4).

  • Initial diagnostic phase Al – identification of battery status.
The charger analyzes the status of charge of the battery, which should be loaded.
For extremely unloaded batteries a refreshing loading with very low current will be done, until the battery has reached the optimum load for the first charging phase.

  • Initial charging phase I: charging with constant current to maximum battery charge.

  • Second phase UO: charging with firm voltage until the current reaches the minimum value.

  • Second diagnostic phase A2 – identification of battery status: The charger tests the efficiency of the charged battery.

  • Only for modelAkkuEnergy art. 927130: Third charging phase Boost – only for chargers which are adjusted to WET/ AGM. Intensive charging phase with constant current and increasing voltage for increasing the charging efficiency of the battery

  • Fourth charging phase U: maintenance of charge at constantly reduced voltage and charger adjusted for batteries DRY/ GEL.

  • Fourth charging phase Up: Maintenance of charging with pulse current and charger adjusted for batteries WET/ AGM.
