Motorhome Detailed Installation Instructions

INSTALLATION TIME: 3 – 6 MINUTES PER PAD.

While not required, we recommend double protecting your jacks by covering the landing feet with a rubberized protectant such as Flex Seal®. Make sure to cover your jack cylinders prior to applying and coat the bottom of your landing feet as well. Do this prior to installing your SnapPads and allow the protectant to cure for 24 hours. Do not spray your SnapPads with the sealant (it will not adhere to the rubber).

  • SnapPad installation should be performed on a level or near level surface – preferably a hard surface (concrete or asphalt). Wheel chocks should be placed in front of and behind the RV wheels for additional safety.

  • Inspect the condition of the metal landing feet on each jack to ensure the SnapPad will fit snuggly, securely and safely. Metal landing feet displaying bending, misshapen area, damage, excessive rusting or corrosion, or signs of warping may not safely accept a SnapPad with resulting risks of damage, injury or death.

  • Be sure to thoroughly clean and dry your landing feet prior to installing your SnapPads.

  • Spread a small bead of concentrated dish soap around the lip of the SnapPad and metal landing foot to aid installation. Do NOT use any petroleum based lubricant, such as WD-40® as it may negatively react with the binder in your SnapPads.

  • Place each SnapPad by hand against each landing foot to verify proper sizing before installation (i.e. the SnapPad will accept each foot with the SnapPad lip engaged over top of the edge of the foot). Have a helper manually and safely operate each jack through it’s range of travel while holding the SnapPad in place.

  • Some landing feet will have the spring brackets welded to the outside lip. When lining up your SnapPad, ensure the spring brackets are inline with the brackets slots on the SnapPad.
Cross beam consideration – on certain Tiffins brand Motorhomes, the front jacks will have a cross beam between them. Your SnapPads may or may not hit this beam when retracted. If so, align the bracket slot to allow clearance for the cross beam. Cross beam clearance takes priority over spring brackets welded to the outside lip.***

  • Operate your jacks manually and install your SnapPads one at a time.If you have an electric system, please be careful that you don’t overload the system when installing the pads. Do not hold the extend button for too long (3 seconds or less) once it contacts the ground or SnapPad.

  • Be extra careful when you line it up and center the pad beneath the jack foot.

  • Extend your jacks until about 2 inches from the ground then stop so you can properly align your jack and SnapPad. KEEP YOUR FINGERS AND ANY FOREIGN OBJECTS CLEAR WHEN LOWERING THE JACK INTO PLACE.

  • Carefully place and center your SnapPad under the landing jack foot. Continue to lower the front landing jack until it touches the SnapPad. If you feel that the landing pad is not centered on the SnapPads, retract the landing gear enough to re-center the SnapPads and proceed with extending the landing gear.

  • You should hear a distinctive “snap” as the lip engages. Run a finger around the edge of the lip to confirm it is fully engaged around the perimeter of the landing foot.

  • If the lip of your SnapPad hasn’t fully engaged around the entire edge of the landing foot, raise your jack and place a shim (small piece of wood no thicker than 1/4”) under the side of the SnapPad that hasn’t engaged. Lower your jack again until that side snaps into place.

  • Wipe off any excess soap and repeat the installation process on the remaining jacks.

  • Grab a helper! It’s safer, faster, and more efficient with two people.
  • Use your phone or another person to relay the information between the installer and the person working the controls.

  • Standing water? No problem! Your SnapPad HiWay 8 Bus pads have built-in drainage channels.
  •  Installation is easier in warm weather (50°F or more).

We recommend double protecting your jacks by covering the landing feet with a rubberized protectant such as Flex Seal®. Make sure to cover your jack cylinders prior to applying and coat the bottom of your landing feet as well. Do this prior to installing your SnapPads and allow the protectant to cure for 24 hours.
