Product Information

The product is a waterproof electric shaver designed for shaving body hair below the neck. It features a trimming head, on/off slide, battery compartment cover, skin protector, trimming guard, disposable AA alkaline battery, cleaning brush, and shower strap. The product is suitable for use in the bath or shower and for cleaning under the tap.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Read all instructions before using the product.
  2. Check the product and all accessories before use. Do not use the product or any accessory if it is damaged.
  3. To place the battery, turn the battery compartment cover counterclockwise to unlock it. Insert one disposable AA alkaline battery with the + and – poles pointing in the direction indicated in the battery compartment. Turn the cover clockwise to lock it.
  4. Attach the skin protector or trimming guard to the trimming head before use.
  5. Slide the on/off switch to turn on the product.
  6. Shave body hair below the neck using a gentle circular motion.
  7. After use, switch off the product and remove the skin protector or trimming guard.
  8. Clean the product after each use using cold or lukewarm water and the cleaning brush.
  9. Do not use compressed air, scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents, or aggressive liquids such as gasoline or acetone to clean the product.
  10. Remove batteries from the product if you are not going to use it for some time. Do not leave empty disposable batteries inside the product.
  11. To avoid accidental short-circuiting of batteries after removal, do not let battery terminals come into contact with metal objects. Tape battery terminals or put batteries in a plastic bag before you discard them.
  12. For hygiene purposes, only one person should use the product.
  13. The product is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18.

  • Only operate this product on disposable 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries.
  • Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
  •  Keep product and batteries away from fire and do not expose them to direct sunlight or high temperatures.
  • If the product becomes abnormally hot or smelly, or changes color, stop using the product and contact Philips.
  • Do not place products and their batteries in microwave ovens or on induction cookers.
  •  Do not modify, pierce, damage or dismantle the product or battery to prevent batteries from heating up or releasing toxic or hazardous substances. Do not short-circuit, overcharge or reverse charge batteries.
  •  If batteries are damaged or leaking, avoid contact with the skin or eyes. If this occurs, immediately rinse well with water and seek medical care.
  • When you handle batteries, make sure that your hands, the product and the batteries are dry.
  • Insert batteries with the + and – poles pointing in the direction indicated in the battery compartment or holder.
  • Do not mix different brands and types of batteries, do not mix new and used batteries and do not use batteries with different date codes.
  • Remove batteries from the product if you are not going to use it for some time.
  • To avoid accidental short-circuiting of batteries after removal, do not let battery terminals come into contact with metal objects (e.g. coins, hairpins, rings).
  • Do not wrap batteries in aluminum foil. Tape battery terminals or put batteries in a plastic bag before you discard them.

Preparing for use

Placing the battery

  1. To remove the battery compartment cover, turn it clockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‘unlocked’ indication (^) .

  2. Pull the battery compartment cover off the handle.

  3.  Put the battery in the battery compartment . Make sure the + and – poles of the battery point in the right direction.
    Note: The appliance operates on one AA 1.5-volt battery (included).

  4. Slide the battery compartment cover back onto the handle .

  5. Turn the battery compartment cover anticlockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‘locked’ indication (|) .

Note: Make sure your hands and the product are dry when you insert the battery.

Using the product
Always check the product and all accessories before you use it. Do not use the product or any accessory if it is damaged, as this may cause injury. Always replace a damaged part with one of the original type. Do not use the product without the skin protector or the trimming guard . You can use the product wet or dry to shave or trim hair on all parts of the body below the neckline.

  •  The product works best under dry conditions. Dry your skin with e.g. a towel when using it on moist areas, such as underarms.
  • Since all hairs do not grow in the same direction, you may want to try different trimming directions (i.e. upwards, downwards, or across). Practice is best for optimum results.
  • Stretch the skin in sensitive areas such as the chest and the scrotum .
  •  You have to acquire practice with the product. Your skin also needs some time to adjust to the procedure.
  • It is not necessary to press hard to get a close result. Pressing too hard may cause skin irritation, and the product will not function properly.

If any irritation or allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use immediately.

  • When too many hairs have accumulated on the product, remove the hairs before and/or during use, for best trimming results.

Attaching and detaching the skin protector and trimming guard

  1.  Make sure that the product is switched off.
  2.  To attach the skin protector or the guard to the product, snap it onto the trimming head .
  3. To detach the skin protector or the guard from the guard, carefully hold it on its sides and pull it upwards off the trimming head.

Switching the product on and off

  •  To switch on the product, slide the on/off slide up.
  • To switch off the product, slide the on/off slide down .

Trimming

Trimming with the skin protector
Use the product with the skin protector to trim hair close to the skin (to a length of approx. 1/32 in./0.5 mm).

  1. Attach the skin protector to the product (see ‘Attaching and detaching the skin protector and trimming guard’).
  2.  Switch on the product (see ‘ Switching the product on and off’).
  3.  Place the skin protector flat on the skin with the handle at an angle of 45° to the skin (Fig. 13).
  4. Move the product against the direction of hair growth while applying gentle pressure. Make slow and well-controlled movements and make sure that the skin protector always stays in contact with the skin.

Trim longer hair with the trimming guard before trimming it with the skin protector. The skin protector is only intended to trim short hair.

Trimming with the trimming guard
Use the product with the trimming guard to trim longer hair to a length of 1/8 in.(3 mm).

  1. Attach the trimming guard to the product (see ‘Attaching and detaching the skin protector and trimming guard’).
  2. Switch on the product (see ‘ Switching the product on and off’).
  3. Place the trimming guard flat on the skin with the handle at an angle of 45° to the skin.
  4. Move the product against the direction of hair growth while applying gentle pressure. Make slow and well-controlled movements and make sure that the flat part of the guard always stays in contact with the skin.

Cleaning

Switch off and clean the product after each use.

  1.  Switch off the product (see ‘ Switching the product on and off’).
  2.  Remove the skin protector or trimming guard if still attached to the product (see ‘Attaching and detaching the skin protector and trimming guard’).
  3. Use the cleaning brush to clean the skin protector and/or trimming guard .
  4.  Use the cleaning brush to clean the inside of the trimming head.
  5.  Rinse the skin protector and/or trimming guard under the tap.
  6.  Rinse the inside of the trimming head under the tap. Make sure that the battery compartment is properly closed before rinsing the product under the tap.
  7.  Carefully shake off excess water and let all parts air dry completely.
