General installation instructions for MATCH components To prevent damage to the unit and possible injury, read this manual carefully and follow all installation instructions. This product has been checked for proper function prior to shipping and is guaranteed against manufacturing defects. Before starting your installation, disconnect the battery’s negative terminal to prevent damage to the unit, fire and / or risk of injury. For a proper performance and to ensure full warranty coverage, we strongly recommend to get this product installed by an authorized MATCH dealer. Install your M 2.1AMP in a dry location with sufficient air circulation for proper cooling of the equipment. The amplifier should be secured to a solid mounting surface using proper mounting hardware. Before mounting, carefully examine the area around and behind the proposed installation location to ensure that there are no electrical cables or components, hydraulic brake lines or any part of the fuel tank located behind the mounting surface. Failure to do so may result in unpredictable damage to these components and possible costly repairs to the vehicle.
General instruction for connecting the MATCH M 2.1AMP amplifier
The MATCH M 2.1AMP amplifier may only be installed in vehicles which have a 12
Volts negative terminal connected to the chassis ground. Any other system
could cause damage to the amplifier and the electrical system of the vehicle.
The positive cable from the battery for the complete system should be provided
with a main fuse at a distance of max. 30 cm from the battery. The value of
the fuse is calculated from the maximum total current input of the car audio
system.
Use only suitable cables with sufficient cable cross-section for the
connection of the MATCH M 2.1AMP. The fuse may only be replaced by an
identically rated fuse (30 A) to avoid damage of the amplifier.
Prior to installation, plan the wire routing to avoid any possible damage to
the wire harness. All cabling should be protected against possible crushing or
pinching hazards. Also avoid routing cables close to potential noise sources
such as electric motors, high-power accessories and other vehicle harnesses.

Input Ground Schalter
The signal ground of the M 2.1AMP signal inputs is separated from the vehicle ground by a differential amplifier (switch position = ISO). This is the best option in most vehicles to prevent interference noise, e.g. from the alternator. Nevertheless, there are use cases where it will be necessary to tie both grounds together (switch position = GND). -
Status LED
The Status LED indicates the operating mode of the amplifier.- Green: Amplifier is ready for operation.
- Orange: One channel of the Line Input is overdriven. Reduce the input sensitivity via the Gain control until the LED turns green.
- Orange flashing: The internal fuse is destroyed.
- Note: The fuse may only be replaced by an identically rated fuse (30 A) to avoid damage of the amplifier.
- Red flashing: A malfunction has occurred. A malfunction may have different causes as the MATCH M 2.1AMP is equipped with different protection circuits. These protections shut off the amplifier in case of overheating, over- and undervoltage, short-circuit on loudspeakers and false connection. Please check for connecting failures such as short-circuits, wrong connections, wrong adjustments and over temperature. If the amplifier does not turn on it is defective and has to be send to your local authorized dealer forrepair service. A detailed description of the malfunction and the purchase receipt has to be attached.
-
Gain
This control is used to adapt the input sensitivity to the output voltage of the connected signal source. This is not a volume control, it´s only for adjusting the amplifier gain. The control range of the RCA / Line Input is 1 – 6 Volts (max. CCW = 6 Volts, max. CW = 1 Volt). -
Line Input
2-channel pre-amplifier input to connect signal sources such as DSPs / DSP amplifiers. Attention: Solely use the Line Input connection cable (see page 15, fig. 1) which is included in delivery -
Speaker Output
Speaker outputs to connect speaker systems. The M 2.1AMP is equipped with a Mono / Stereo Mode. This allows to operate the amplifier as 1- or 2-channel amplifier. The Mono Mode is activated by default. By removing a jumper inside the device the Stereo Mode can be activated ( see page 15, point 1).- Mono: In Mono Mode, both speaker outputs are supplied with the input signal from channel A. The-total impedance of the speakers must not be lower than 2 Ohms.
- Stereo: In Stereo Mode, each of the speaker out-puts is supplied with the corresponding input signal. In this mode, the impedance of the speakers must not be lower than 4 Ohms. The currently activated mode is indicated by the Mono / Stereo Mode LED (see the following point 6).
- Achtung: Solely use the pluggable screw-terminal for the speaker output connector which is included in delivery.
-
Mono / Stereo Mode (MSM) LED
This LED indicates the currently activated operat-ing mode of the Speaker Output. The Mono Mode (1-channel) of the M 2.1AMP is activated by de-fault (LED = On). By removing a jumper inside the unit, the amplifier can be switched to Stereo Mode (2-channel / LED = Off). How to activate the mode can be found on page 15 under point -
REM IN / OUT
This connector is used to connect the remote in- and output.- IN: The remote lead should be connected to the remote output of the signal source. Thus the amplifier is switched on and off together with the signal source.
- OUT: The signal of the remote input is looped through to the remote output. This allows you to switch on further amplifiers.
- Attention: Solely use the pluggable screw terminal which is included in the delivery.
-
+12 V
Connect the +12 V power cable to the positive terminal of the battery. Recommended cross-section: min. 6 mm² / AWG 10.
Initial start-up and functions
- GND
The ground cable should be connected to a com-mon ground reference point (this is located where the negative terminal of the battery is grounded to the metal body of the vehicle) or to a prepared metal location on the vehicle chassis i.e. an area which has been cleaned of all paint residues. Recommended cross-section: min. 6 mm² / AWG 10.

Connection of the MATCH M 2.1AMP to the signal source:
Caution: Carrying out the following steps will require special tools and
technical knowledge. In order to avoid connection mistakes and/or damage, ask
your dealer for assistance if you have any questions, and follow all
instructions in this manual (see page 11). It is recommended that this unit
will be installed by an authorized MATCH dealer.
Mono Mode: Jumper plugged
Configuring the mono or stereo operation
The M 2.1AMP can be operated as a 1-channel (Mono Mode) or 2-channel (Stereo Mode) amplifier. The Mono Mode is activated by default. To activate the Stereo Mode the device has to be opened and a jumper must be removed. Therefore dismantle the side panel where the Line Input is located by removing the two Phil-lips screws and pulling out the bottom plate sideways. Now you have access to the jumper. Make sure that in Mono Mode the jumper is plugged properly and all pins are fully inserted. Afterward, you can reassemble the amplifier.
Connecting the pre-amplifier inputs
Use the included cable (see page 15, fig. 1) to connect the M 2.1AMP to the
pre-amplifier /low-level / cinch outputs of your signal source. It is not
mandatory to use both pre-amplifier input channels. In Mono Mode, only input
channel A has to be used (see page 15, point 1). In this case, the input
signal of channel A is supplied to both output channels. In Stereo Mode both
speaker outputs are supplied with the corresponding input signal. The
currently activated mode is indicated by the Mono / Stereo Mode LED (see page
13, point 6). Adjustment of the input sensitivity Attention: It is mandatory
to properly adapt the input sensitivity of the M 2.1AMP to the signal source
in order to avoid damage to the amplifier. If you want to change the input
sensitivity use the Gain control (see page 13, point 3). The setting of the
control only affects the Line Input! Follow the subsequent steps if you like
to perfectly adapt the amplifiers input sensitivity to your audio source by
using the Gain control:
Stereo Mode: Jumper removed
- Don‘t connect any loudspeakers to the outputs of the M 2.1AMP during this setup.
- Turn on the amplifier.
- Adjust the volume of your radio to approx. 90 % of the max. volume and playback an appropriate test tone, e.g. pink noise (0 dB).
- If the Status LED already lights up orange, you have to reduce the input sensitivity via Gain control (see page 18, point 3) until the LED turns green again.
- Increase the input sensitivity by turning the control clockwise until the LED lights up orange. Now turn the control counterclockwise until the Status LED turns green again.
Connecting the loudspeaker outputs
The loudspeaker outputs can be connected to the wires of the loudspeakers by
using the pluggable screw-terminal which is included in the delivery. Never
connect any of the loudspeakers cables with the chassis ground as this will
dam-age your amplifier and your speakers. Ensure that the loudspeakers are
correctly con-nected (in phase), i.e. plus to plus and minus to minus.
Exchanging plus and minus causes a total loss of bass reproduction. The plus
pole is indicated on most speakers. In Stereo Mode the impedance per speaker
must not be lower than 4 Ohms and in Mono Mode the total impedance must not be
lower than 2 Ohms. Examples of speaker configurations can be found on page 17
f.
Connection to power supply Make sure to disconnect the battery before
installing the MATCH M 2.1AMP!
Connect the +12 V power cable to the positive terminal of the battery. The
positive wire from the battery to the amplifier power terminals needs to have
an inline fuse at a distance of less than 12 inches (30 cm) from the battery.
The value of the fuse is calculated from the maximum total current draw of the
whole car audio system (M 2.1AMP = max. 40 A RMS at 12 V power supply). If
your power wires are short (less than 1 m / 40”) then a wire gauge of 4 mm² /
AWG 12 will be sufficient. The ground cable (same gauge as the +12 V wire)
should be connected to a common ground reference point (this is located where
the neg-ative terminal of the battery is grounded to the metal body of the
vehicle), or to a prepared met-al location on the vehicle chassis, i.e. an
area which has been cleaned of all paint residues. Attention: For connection
to power supply solely use the pluggable screw-terminal which is included in
delivery (see page 15, fig. 2; Pow-er Input plug).
Connecting the remote input
The remote input (REM IN) has to be connected to the remote output of the
signal source. We do not recommend controlling the remote input via the
ignition switch to avoid pop noise during turn on / off.
