Product Usage Instructions

  1. Warranty & Customer Support: The product comes with a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase. For any questions, support, or warranty claims, contact the manufacturer at service@azdome.hk with your order number. Provide photos or videos to show the problem.
  2. Low Voltage Protection: The AZDOME 3-Lead Hardwire Kit provides power to your dashcam from your car’s battery via fuse box to keep your dashcam continuously running even after you turn off your engine. It is compatible with most dashcams available in the market that has a mini USB power connector. The hardwire kit automatically detects voltage input whether your vehicle is running DC12V or 24V. It monitors your voltage status and cuts off the power to the dashcam if the voltage drops below the configured value for more than 8 seconds. It reserves enough power so you can start your car for the next time. You have four different configuration choices that you can select when you want the power to be disconnected to the dashcam when the battery’s voltage reaches a certain level.
  3. Four Options of Low Voltage Protection: For 12V Battery: 11.8V, 12.0V, 12.2V, 12.4V. For 24V Battery: 23.6V, 24.0V, 24.4V, 24.8V. If you press at the same time to select 2 or more options, or do not select the voltage option, this default voltage cut-off is 11.8VDC for a 12VDC battery and 23.6VDC for a 24VDC battery. 12.2V or 24.4V is recommended for most users in general driving conditions. Make sure to test and identify the minimum necessary battery voltage you will need to start your car for the next time before you set to the lowest setting. We recommend that you start with the highest setting, and then test and press only one voltage option in sequence to find the suitable battery voltage that will give you enough battery power left over to start your car for the next time.
  4. Fuse Taps: Fuse sizes and the type of Fuse Taps vary depending on your vehicle, please check your Fuse Box to see what type of fuse tap your vehicle requires. There are 4 variations of the add-a-fuse that we carry: ACZ (micro2), ACS (mini), ACN (LP-mini) and ACU (ATO) as photos below (2 Needed Per Vehicle).
  5. Installation:
  6. Locate Your Fuse Box: Consult your car owner’s manual for the location of the fuse box. Depending on the model of your vehicle, you may need to remove some trim or open some panels to gain access to the fuses.
  7. Connect the Red Wire: Connect the red wire of the hardwire kit with one type of Fuse Tap that your vehicle requires.
  8. Locate the Constant Fuse Slot: Find a Constant Fuse Slot in it. (Constant Fuse Slot always has power even when the ignition is off.) Use a circuit tester to test which fuse is constant and which is ignition-switched. The circuit tester will light up when poking into the port on top of the constant fuse, vice versa for the ignition-switched fuse.

Hard-wire kits, there are 3 wires that need to be connected:

  • A RED wire (BAT+), needs to connect with constant fuse, which can provide power to dash cam even when the vehicle is off.

  • A YELLOW wire (ACC), needs to connect with Fuse Box ACC, which can make the dash cam auto power on&off when the vehicle is on&off.

  • A BLACK wire (GND), needs to connect with metal bolt or screw, which can prevent electric shock.
NOTE : The Parking Mode only works on dash cam that have the function of detecting ACC, this will make your camera record based on your camera’s parking mode setting.

  • Always refer to the vehicle owner’s manual to avoid fuse slots that could pertain to important safety features within your vehicle. For example, avoid fuses that controls airbags, stability control programs, etc.

Step 3:

Locate the Fuse Box and find a Constant Fuse Slot in it.(Constant Fuse Slot always has power even when the ignition is off.) Use a circuit tester to test which fuse is constant and which is ignition-switched. The circuit tester will light up when poking into the port on top of the constant fuse, vice versa for the ignition-switched fuse.

Step 4:

Step 7:

Connect the Yellow Wire of the Hard-wire Kit to the positive terminal of the ACC Fuse Slot in the Fuse Box. ACC Fuse Slot only has power when the ignition is on.AZDOME JYX04 Hardwire Kit 10

Tip : The installation steps of the Fuses are the same with steps 4 and 5.

Step 8:

Crimp the Black Wire and screw it down to any non-coated metal bolt/screw in your vehicle to ground it. If a bad ground is chosen, it may cause your dash cam to restart when the current is unable to flow consistently.AZDOME JYX04

Step 9:

Connect the Micro USB connector of the Hard-wire kit to the Mini USB input of your dash cam.AZDOME JYX04 Hardwire Kit 12

Step 10:
Once you’ve hooked up the power and ground, plug the kit into your camera and start your vehicle to see if it works. If it works, you can run and tuck all the wires in to your car, we recommend to tape or zip tying the excess wires out of the way in your vehicle so it doesn’t block any access to your fuse box.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Reversed orientation of the accessory and ignition switched wires

The dash cam will behave abnormally if the wires are switched and in some cases even result in battery drain. Please double check with your specific Hard-wire kit for the wire orientation and don’t go off other guides.

Add-A-Fuse Incorrectly Set Up
If you don’t put a fuse into the top fuse slot of the add-a-fuse, it will not feed power to the Hard-wire kit.

Bad Ground
When an incorrect ground is used the camera won’t get power. A loose or weak ground may result in restarting when the vehicle hits a bump.
