  • Never add water to the oil! Danger of deflagration/ explosion!
  • Oils and fats can burn if overheated. Be careful! Do not forget to switch off the appliance after use! To do this, first set the thermostats to the lowest position and then pull the mains plug out of the socket.
  • Contaminated oils and fats can easily catch fire! Always remove food left in the oil/fat immediately. Replace the oil/fat in good time.
  • Keep a sufficient safety distance from easily flammable objects such as furniture, curtains, etc.
  • If the appliance should catch fire, do not attempt to extinguish the flames with water. Smother the flames with a damp cloth. If necessary, cover the fondue pot with a suitable pot lid.
  • Do not move or carry the hot appliance while it is in operation! Risk of burns! Hot liquids, hot steam and oil splashes could escape.
  • Do not exchange the fondue pot for the natural stoneB or vice versa during operation. Risk of burns!

Use of Solid Frying Fat for Fondue

CAUTION:

  • If you use solid frying fat, cut it into small pieces.
  • Set the thermostats between MIN and MAX and add the pieces slowly.
  • Once the fat has melted and the required oil level has been reached, you can set the desired temperature on the thermostats. Note the MAX mark in the fondue pot!
  • Never mix oils and fats. The liquid could overflow. Strong foam formation!

Notes for Use

  • Only use wooden or Teflon spatulas to turn the food. Do not use utensils made of plastic. They can melt.
  • The non-stick-coated grill surfaces allow food to be prepared without fat.
  • If you want to use oil, a highly heatable oil such as sunflower oil is suitable. Do not use olive oil or butter, as these types of fat produce smoke even at low temperatures.
  • Do not use frozen food for grilling or for the fondue. Defrost them beforehand.
  • Dab wet food dry with a cloth.
  • The natural stone is suitable for the gentle preparation of vegetables and fish. Meat should be prepared on the grill plate and can be placed on the natural stone to keep warm.
  • Do not place any food containing acid (e.g. pickles, mustard or similar) on the natural stone.
  •  The stone is a natural product. Discoloration or small cracks caused by use do not affect the grilling result and do not constitute a defect.
  • Only use the fondue pot with the basic appliance included in the delivery

Assembly
Place the grill plate centrally on the appliance so that the fat collection groove faces upwards. The plate must have a firm hold.
For using the raclette grill with the natural stone:

  • Place the pans under the plate in the appliance.

  • Place the natural stone in the middle of the grill plate so that the fat collection groove faces upwards.
    For using the fondue pot:

  • Remove the natural stone. Place the fondue pot in the middle of the grill plate.

  • Place the splash guard on the pot, which also serves as a fork holder

Connected Load

  • The total power consumption of this appliance can be up to 1900W. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16A household circuit breaker is recommended.
  • Do not use any multiple sockets, as this appliance is too powerful.
  • Caution, overload: If you use extension leads, these should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5mm². Cables with a smaller cable cross-section can overheat.
  • Make sure that the cable is laid in such a way that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.

Electrical Connection

  1. Make sure that both thermostats are in the MIN position.
  2. Check whether the mains voltage that you want to use, corresponds with that of the appliance. You will find the information about it on the rating plate.
  3. Only connect the appliance to a properly installed safety socket. The mains indicator light (left indicator light) lights up when the mains plug is plugged in. The appliance is thus in operation.

Two Separately Adjustable Heating Elements

  • The appliance is operated with thermostats. The indicator light to the right of each thermostat shows you the heating mode.
  • The heating indicator lights go out when the selected temperature is reached.
  • The left thermostat controls the heating for the raclette grill, the right thermostat controls the heating for the fondue or natural stone.

Before Initial Use
There is a protective layer on the heating element that burns when the appliance heats up. This may cause smoke and odours to develop when the appliance is used, but these will disappear after a few uses. This does not constitute a defect.

  • You can minimize the smoke development by wiping the heating element with a slightly moistened cloth before using it for the first time.
  • Do not use cleaning agents!
  • Then wipe it with a dry cloth.
  • Only switch on the appliance when it is in a completely dry state.
  • Always ensure adequate ventilation.
    • Lightly grease the pans and the grill plate.
    • Place all the parts in the appliance.
    • Operate the appliance for approx. 10 minutes without grilling food so that the protective layers can remove. To do this, set both thermostats to the MAX position.
    • Set both thermostats to the MIN position. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
    • Let the appliance cool down completely.
    • Clean again all parts that will come into contact with food.

Using the Appliance
Before using the appliance, decide whether you want to use the raclette grill with the natural stone or with the fondue pot. Close the opening in the middle of the grill plate in any case, either with the natural stone or with the fondue pot. Place the fully assembled appliance on a level surface that is resistant to moisture and heat. The location must be stable and non-slip. The surface should be easy to clean, as splashes are inevitable. For sensitive surfaces, place a  heat-resistant plate underneath.

Raclette Grill

  • Cut all the ingredients into small pieces or slices.
  • Turn both thermostats to the MAX position.
  • Do not place any empty pans in the appliance during operation.
  • Allow the appliance to preheat for about 10 minutes.
  • Place food of your choice on the grill plate and on the natural stone.
  • You can bake e.g. mushrooms or small sandwiches with cheese in the pans.
  • Do not overfill the pans.
  • Make sure that the ingredients do not come into contact with the heating element.
  • Remove coarse food residues from the grill plate and the pans from time to time so that they do not burn.

Fondue

  1.  Fill the fondue pot with frying fat or oil. Alternatively, you can also use broth or cheese or chocolate with various liquids. Always observe the MIN and MAX markings in the pot (minimum filling quantity 0.5 litres to maximum 0.6 litres).
  2. Place the splash guard on the fondue pot.
  3. For thin liquids (oil or broth), turn both thermostats to the MAX position to heat the liquid. The time for heating varies depending on the liquid used (approx. 20 to 35 minutes). Oil takes longer to heat than broth. Tip: You can use a wooden stick (e.g. a shish kebab spit or wooden cooking spoon) to test whether the correct temperature has been reached: When dipping into the oil, slight air bubbles must rise on the wooden stick. However, you can also put a piece of your fried food into the hot oil.
  4. For solid ingredients that are to become liquid slowly, choose a setting of both thermostats between MIN and MAX. If the ingredients are melted and thick, set the thermostats lower to avoid overheating.
  5. Use the fondue forks to skewer pieces of meat or bread or fruit and place them in the liquid. The cooking process takes about 4  –  8 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces. This means that the smaller your pieces are, the faster they will be cooked.
  6. Adjust the temperature with the thermostats so that a slight bubbling of the liquid is maintained.

End of Use

  1. Set both thermostats to the MIN position. The right-hand indicator lights go out.
  2.  Unplug the mains plug from the socket.
  3. Allow the contents of the fondue pot to cool for a longtime. Check that the temperature is not dangerous before continuing to handle the filled fondue pot.
  4. Let the appliance cool down before cleaning it.

Cleaning

WARNING:

  • Always disconnect the mains plug from the socket before cleaning! Wait until the appliance has cooled down.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water! It could cause an electric shock or fire.
  • Make sure that no liquid gets inside the appliance!

CAUTION:

  • Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive utensils for cleaning.
  • Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.

Basic appliance
