HydroMaster BX4220 Circulating Pump

HydroMaster BX4220 Circulating Pump

INTRODUCTION

WARNING: Pump must be installed by a licensed electrician or qualified spa technician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local codes & ordinances. Improper installation will create an electrical hazard and risk of shock which could result in injury or death, or damage to property including fire.

WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. Must be connected to a grounded circuit, properly bonded, and protected by a Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). Keep out of the reach of children to reduce the risk of injury.

WARNING: Always disconnect power to the pump at the circuit breaker before servicing the pump or making inspections. Failure to do so could result in death or serious injury due to electric shock.

ATTENTION!! Pump is factory-configured for 220-240V operation (Fig. 1). Pump voltage MUST be configured to match the control system’s continuous circulating pump circuit voltage. Pump may be easily installer-configured for 120V circuit (Fig. 2).
Operation on a 240V circuit, with pump misconfigured for 120V, will destroy motor and void warranty. Confirm circuit voltage and pump voltage configuration setup prior to installation. Consult with a professional if in doubt.

PUMP WIRING

240V Setup – Factory default (220-240 volts)

  1. Turn off power before working on any electrical connections
  2. CONFIRM pump circuit voltage matches pump voltage configuration
  3. Internal Blue Wire: connect to Terminal 2
  4. Internal Brown Wire: connect to Terminal 3
  5. Supply White/Neutral Wire: connect to Terminal 1
  6. Supply Black/Hot Wire: connect to Terminal 4
  7. Supply Green/Ground Wire: connect with Ground Screw
NOTE : Spas wired for 240V may also have components operating at 120V

Pump Wiring

120V Setup (110-120 volts)

  1. Turn off power before working on any electrical connections
  2. CONFIRM pump circuit voltage matches pump voltage configuration
  3. Internal Blue Wire: connect to Terminal 1
  4. Internal Brown Wire: connect to Terminal 2
  5. Supply White/Neutral Wire: connect to Terminal 1
  6. Supply Black/Hot Wire: connect to Terminal 4
  7. Supply Green/Ground Wire: connect with Ground Screw
WARNING : Operating @ 240V with pump setup for 120V will destroy motorPump Wiring

INSTALLATION TIPS

  1. Replace failing gasket seals or broken unions
  2. Loosen lowest union slightly after installation to bleed air and flood/prime new pump, then retighten
  3. Hand-tighten unions only, without wrench
  4. After installation is complete, operate spa for a few minutes and observe for leaks or air locks

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

Motor not running| No power to pump| Incoming wiring to pump
Circuit breaker on
GFCI functioning properly
Water not pumping properly| Blockage or air lock| Pump inlet blockage
Debris in pump housing
