STETSOM PA2500.2 Sound Power Amplifier

Features

Thank you so much for choosing a Stetsom product!
The PA2500.2 was developed to meet the most demanding in low frequencies with deep and intense bass, as well as well defined mid and high frequencies. Its electronic circuit has two pre-equalized channels: Record EQ and Medium EQ. Each of these channels internally has a three band equalizer with defined frequencies and gains to make your sound more prominent, in addition to the FLAT channel that allows amplification of the sound fully balanced.

Before installing

Please read this manual carefully.
  • All product connections must be made with the product turned OFF.
  • A fuse must be installed between the amplifier and the battery is required to protect against overcharging. The fuse has to be installed as close to the battery as possible. Check the proper fuse for the amplifier according to its consumption.
  • Use gauges recommended in this manual to avoid the overheating of the cables to obtain maximum power.
  • Keep the cables as short as possible to increase sound fidelity and avoid potential power losses.
  • Route the installation cables as far away as possible from the original vehicle wiring as it may cause interference and noise in your audio system.
  •  Perform the installation in a firm, ventilated and dry place.
  •  Installation must be done by a qualified professional.

Input and audio controls

Input and audio controls

  1. INPUT: Input of the signal to be amplified. Connect to the radio/player through high quality shielded RCA cables to prevent unwanted noise.
  2. LEVEL : This control allows the adjustment of the signal level at the input of the amplifier that will be sent to the audio output.
  3. BASS BOOST: This control allows the reinforcement of bass, enhancing the frequency of 45Hz by up to +20dB.
  4. COOLER: It provides cooling of the amplifier. Install in a cool place without obstruction of air inlets and outlets.
  5. PRE-EQUALIZATION SWITCH
BASS EQ: In this position, the amplifier will have a tone aimed at playing speakers of the type WOOFER and SUB WOOFER.
FLAT: In this position, the amplifier has a flat response, maintaining the original audio timbre.
MID EQ: In this position, the amplifier will have a timbre aimed at playing MIDDLE type speakers.
The BASS EQ and MID EQ channels, as well as the FLAT channel do not have Low Pass or High Pass filters, so it is necessary to use a audio processor to perform the cuts according to the configuration of your sound.

Power input and output audio

Power input and output audio

  1. OUTPUT CONNECTOR (SPEAKERS): Output of the amplified signal for connection of the speakers. Check the minimum impedance and polarities before installing.
  2. POSITIVE POWER SUPLY CONNECTOR: Connect to the positive battery terminal through a minimum 0 AWG cable with a fuse/circuit breaker (160A) as close to the battery as possible.
  3. REMOTE CONNECTOR (REM): Allows automatic activation of the amplifier when turning on the radio/player. Connect to the remote output of the radio/player minimum of 20 AWG.
  4. NEGATIVE POWER SUPLY CONNECTOR: Connect to the negative terminal of the battery using a cable minimum of 0 AWG .

Indicators LED

The LEDs provide information about the operation of the product and the activation of protections. If any protection is triggered, the LED for the detected problem will light up and the product will be turned off. Check the cause of the problem and restart the amplifier.

OPERATING LEDS

OPERATING LEDS

PROTECTION LED

OPERATING LEDS

TEMP (All protection LEDs) : Indicates that the product has exceeded the operating limit temperature. This protection turns on all the protection LEDs simultaneously. Check that the ventilation inlets and outlets are not obstructed, wait for the product to cool and turn it on again.

Instalation

Specification of the cables for proper installation:

  • Power connectors (positive/negative) …………………………………. 0 AWG
  • Remote connector ……………………………………………………………. 18 AWG
  • Output signal connectors (speakers) …………………………………… 10 AWG
  • Fuses or circuit breakers …………………………………………………….. 160A

The use of fuse or circuit breaker is mandatory to protect the system from short circuit and overload. Install them as close to the battery as possible.

Installation should only be done by qualified professionals with the product turned OFF.

Instalation

INSTALLATION OF SPEAKERS

This amplifier has a two-channel audio output, which allows the installation of speakers in stereo and bridge mode by joining both channels for the use of WOOFER and SUBWOOFER. It is possible to use stereo and bridge mode together (tri-mode) as in the figure below:
Installation STEREO + BRIDGE (Tri-Mode)

Check the minimum impedance supported by the amplifier.

Troubleshooting

AMPLIFIER DOES NOT TURN ON:

  • Verify that the cables are connected correctly. Make sure all connections have electrical and mechanical contact.
  • Fuses or circuit breakers may be defective or blown. Check the condition of the circuit breakers and if it is compatible with the equipment consumption.
  • Verify that the battery charge is sufficient for the operation of the product.

NO SOUND:

  • The cables of the speakers or RCA plugs may not be connected correctly or are defective.
  • Verify that the LEVEL control is not at a minimum.

PROTECTION LED ON:

  • Check the problem related to the protection LED that was triggered.
  • Battery voltage outside of that supported by the product.
  • Product operating at temperatures beyond the permitted limit. Ventilation inlets and outlets on the product may be blocked, preventing the product from cooling. Stop using the product until the temperature is normalized.
  • Speakers or cables shorted, check the speakers, cables and connections.

SOUND DISTORTIONS:

  • The speakers may be overloaded or defective, lower the level and remake the level adjustment. This setting can be adjusted as follows:

a) On the radio/player, place any musical signal and set the volume to 80% of the maximum (if the maximum volume of the radio /player is 45 (100%), set to 36 (80%).
b) On the amplifier, with LEVEL control at minimum, increase gradually until the LED CLIP starts to flash. Slowly return the LEVEL until the led goes out completely.

LACK OF BASS:

  • Cables of the speakers may be reversed and (out-of-phase speakers).

NOISE AND FAILURE IN SOUND:

  • Verify that the installation is not close to the original vehicle wiring as they may cause interference and noise in the audio signal.
  • Make a separate power connection to the sound system. Use a fuse/ circuit breaker as close to the battery as possible for protection.
  • Make a good grounding of the amplifier. To do this, remove the paint from the vehicle chassis at the desired point. Screw the wire using a ground terminal. To protect from oxidation, isolate with paint.
  • Do not loop the ground. Avoid using multiple grounds. If possible, use a star connection, in which all the grounds run from a single point.
