Precautions concerning water- resistance
A watch’s water resistance can be affected by changes caused by the gaskets drying out, or an accidental shock to the crown. To help maintain your watch’s water resistance, we recommend rinsing it in soft water after any contact with seawater and having its water resistance checked once a year by an approved LONGINES Service Centre. In no circumstances should you open your watch yourself?
IMPORTANT!
Never activate the time-setting crown and/or push-pieces when the watch is
underwater, and ensure that the crown and push-pieces are pushed in or screwed
down before any immersion in water.

Screw-in crown
Some LONGINES models are equipped with a screw-in crown, which must be
unscrewed before setting the time, correcting the date or winding, by turning
it anti-clockwise. After making the settings, return the crown to position 1,
then push it back in and screw it in firmly to ensure the watch’s water
resistance.
Avoid setting the time while the chronograph function is in use
Setting the time and stop seconds
- Pull the crown out to position 2 when the small second’s hand (situated at 9 o’clock) is at 60. Turn the crown either way to the desired time display. As soon as the time is synchronised, push the crown back into position 1.
- If you have not been wearing your mechanical watch, it needs to be wound manually through thirty revolutions or so.
Before each timing operation, the chronograph hands must be at their start point.
Standard Start –Stop – Reset Function
Timing a single event:
- Press push-piece 2: the chronograph will start.
- Press push-piece 2: the chronograph will stop.
- Press push-piece 3 to reset.
Flyback chronograph
An additional function used to reset the chronograph and start a new timing operation instantaneously”. The chronograph is started and stopped by successively pressing push-piece 2, situated at 2 o’clock. It is reset by pressing push-piece 3 situated at 4 o’clock – whether the chronograph has stopped or is running (flyback). If push-piece 3 is pressed when the chronograph is running, all the chronograph indicators are instantly zeroed, to automatically restart a new timing operation. This is known as the flyback function. Conversely, if the chronograph has been stopped using push-piece 2 and push-piece 3 is then activated, the chronograph indicators are reset and immobilised in this position.
To reset the chronograph, push-piece 3 must be pressed.
