TRIUMPH Short Scrambler 1200 License Plate Holder Instruction Manual
Preparation
Check the scope of delivery:
- 1x EPDM strip short
- 1x EPDM strip long
- 1x license plate holder
- 1x pan-head screw M6 x 12
- 2x solder connector 0,5-1,5
- 1x license plate light
Note: Our Classicbike-Raisch license plate holders are all designed to look as
delicate and minimalist as possible.
Therefore, we do NOT recommend an additional license plate frame, but only to
mount the license plate directly.
Otherwise the license plate holder may break.
Disassembly of the fender
Look from below against the fender. Several screw connections are visible.
Loosen the screw connections shown on the left.
Remove the saddle. This is secured with a lock, which the ignition key opens.
Then loosen the three panhead screws of the plastic plate.
The plastic plate is now dismantled.
Slide the plastic plate towards the tank.
Disconnect the rear harness from the main harness.
The connector can be released by pressing in the locking lug.
Loosen the four Torx screws in the rear frame.
This work step loosens the mudguard completely. Hold the fender firmly while loosening the screws.
Place the fender on a work surface. In the next section, this will be revised.
Loosen all remaining screw connections underneath the fender.
The nuts with width across flats 10 hold the tail light. Collar sleeves are used for this purpose. Be careful not to lose these sleeves.
Remove the collar sleeves in the rubber buffers at the front end of the fender. Then remove the rubber buffers.
The plastic mudguard should now detach from the aluminum mudguard. Remove both components from each other.
Revise the fender
Disconnect the rear harness from the consumers:
- 4x round connectors to the turn signals
- 1x rectangular connector to license plate light
- 1x rectangular connector to the rear light
Loosen the outer hexagon screw of the rear light.
Mark a cut edge on the plastic fender with a pencil.
Draw in the cut edge as shown above.
Cut through the plastic fender along the marked cutting edge using a saw.
Deburr the cut edge after sawing with steel wool until you are satisfied with
the result.
Assembly of the fender
Mount the license plate light using the holes in the license plate holder.
The larger hole in the center of the hole pattern is for cable routing.
Mount the turn signals using the holes in the license plate holder.
All turn signals with M8 thread are possible without drilling.
Glue the EPDM strips to the top of the license plate holder.
Glue the long strip [1] to the wide end and the short strip [2] to the narrow
end of the surface.
Leave the short strip slightly overhanging and glue it around the edge.
Mount the license plate holder with the tail light and the aluminum fender using the included M6 x12 pan-head screw.
Use the collar sleeves of the rear light as a positioning aid.
Route the tail light wiring harness through the hole in the license plate holder.
Then remove the collar sleeves again.
Cut the last 5cm of the wiring harness of the original license plate light.
Cut off the connectors of the supplied license plate light and remove the last
5 mm of the insulation of the cable of the supplied license plate light and
the cut cable of the original license plate light.
Connect both cable harnesses with the enclosed soldering connectors. To do this, push two cable ends into the soldering connector and heat it with a lighter or hot air dryer.
Pay attention to the polarity ofthe cables. Observe the cable colors:
- Black to black
- Red to yellow
The right turn signal cable is wrapped in red in the rear wiring harness.
Mount the plastic mudguard with the aluminum mudguard in the same way as for
disassembly.
Make sure that the rear cable harness is routed neatly
The fender assembly should now look similar to the illustration above.
Reassemble the fender assembly with the motorcycle in the same way as disassembly.
Be sure to reconnect the rear wiring harness to the main wiring harness.
The rear of your Triumph Scrambler should now look similar to the image above.
Have fun with the product and always good ride
