GENERAL SAFETY TIPS

Observe and follow the safety tips contained in this section.

WARNING

  • This device is not intended to be used by children or anyone with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge. There must always be a supervisor on site.
  • Sound pressure can cause hearing loss. Hearing protection must be worn while the device is being used directly and when entering the effective area to counteract any hearing damage caused by ultrasound. Keep the device away from the ear canal during operation. Keep the device away from children and adolescents.
  • Store and operate the device in such a way that it cannot be misused by children, adolescents or third parties.
  • Pacemakers can be damaged by the magnetic field. The magnetic field generated by the supplied magnet can have a negative effect on pacemakers. If you use a pacemaker, keep a safe distance away from the magnet.
  • Risk of explosion. The device physically disconnects the battery voltage from the device if the mains adapter and batteries are used at the same time. To prevent any malfunctions, use only one of the two energy sources mentioned.
  • Do not expose the device, mains adapter or batteries to high pressure, high temperatures, humidity or moisture. Do not operate the device in a damp environment or at temperatures above +40°C.

CAUTION

  • Battery acid causes chemical burns. Wear protective gloves when removing leaking batteries from the device. Then clean the device’s contacts using a soft cloth.
  • Only use batteries of the same type. When replacing dead batteries, remove all old batteries and replace them with new batteries. Do not mix old batteries with new batteries.
  • Trip hazard. Position the device and the cable of the mains adapter so that they do not pose a tripping hazard to humans or animals. Do not position the device or the mains adapter cable in walkways.
  • Headache, pressure, and tinnitus. Do not position the device in living spaces unless your device is designed for this. Although the devices are only triggered by movement, long periods of movement within the sound range of the device can affect the hearing. Under certain conditions, this can cause headaches,  a feeling of pressure in the head or tinnitus. If you experience the above symptoms, please consult a doctor directly. Switch off the device whenever you must remain in the vicinity of the device for a longer period.

NOTICE

  • Note that the ultrasound tones can also be heard by your own pets. Make sure the devices are turned off when your pet is in the effective area. Ultrasonic tones are very irritating to animals. Animals’ fear and warning calls are also in the ultrasonic range, so ultrasonic tones can scare them away.
  • Do not make any incorrect changes or modifications to the device.
  • Never open the housing. Contact the Service department if repairs are required.

Info

  • Depending on the setting, the device transmits signals that are audible, barely audible or not audible at all to humans. This device works in the sonic and ultrasonic range. According to the current state of knowledge, ultrasound does not cause any damage if the maximum level is below 140 db (sound pressure) and the mean level, based on 8 h/day, is below 110 linear db. Our devices emit ultrasonic frequencies that can generate between 80 and 120 db of sound pressure at close range.
  • The devices must be set up in such a way that you comply with the laws applicable in your country for ultrasonic emission in public spaces. This can be obtained from the local authorities responsible for your area.

DISPOSAL

**** The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on the product or its packaging indicates that the product must not be disposed of with normal household waste. End users are required to hand in the appliance at a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment.
If the product contains a battery or a rechargeable battery, these should be disposed of separately from the product if possible. As an end user you are legally obliged to return
used batteries. You can return used batteries that we supply or have supplied as new batteries free of charge to our warehouse (shipping address) or to a recycling centre in your area. If the battery or the rechargeable battery contains more than 0.0005% mercury by weight, more than 0.002% cadmium by weight or more than 0.004% lead by weight, this will be clearly indicated by the respective chemical symbol (Hg Cd, or Pb) below the symbol of the crossed- out wheelie bin on the battery or the rechargeable battery. Recyclable materials such as zinc, iron, aluminium, lithium and silver can be found in batteries and rechargeable batteries. They may also contain substances such as mercury, cadmium and lead. These are poisonous and dangerous to the environment if not disposed of properly. Heavy metals can have harmful effects on human, animal  and plant health and accumulate in the environment.
The separate collection and proper disposal of your old appliances and used batteries/rechargeable batteries contributes to the conservation of natural resources and guarantees recycling that protects human health and preserves the environment. Information on where to find collection points for your old appliances or used batteries/rechargeable batteries can be obtained from your town or council administration, the local waste disposal companies or from VOSS GmbH & Co. KG.
