SEVERIN WK 3415 Electric Kettle
Product Information
The product is an electric kettle manufactured by SEVERIN, with the following model numbers: WK 3415 and WK 9269. The electric kettle is available in various languages including English, German, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, and Polish. The kettle has a water container with a lid-opening lever, handle, on/off switch, power cord with plug, base, water level indicator, pouring spout with a scale filter and a control light. The kettle is designed to be used on a heat-resistant, level surface and must only be connected to an earthed socket installed in accordance with regulations.
Product Usage Instructions

Before using the appliance, read the instructions carefully and keep the manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions. Connect the appliance to an earthed socket installed in accordance with regulations and ensure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label.

Fill the water container with water up to the desired level indicated on the water level indicator. Place the container on the base and switch on the appliance. The control light will indicate that the kettle is heating. When the water has boiled, the kettle will automatically switch off. Pour the hot water from the kettle using the pouring spout with scale filter.

After use, unplug the appliance from the socket and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning. To clean the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and do not immerse it in water or clean under running water. The appliance must be descaled at regular intervals while it is switched on.

Do not operate the appliance below a hanging cupboard or similar object as there is a risk that escaping steam may be trapped underneath. Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to come into contact with open flames or any hot surfaces such as hotplates. Take special care when you carry the container with hot water in and always remove the plug from the wall socket after use or during cleaning.

If repairs are needed, send the appliance to the SEVERIN customer service department. Every time the appliance is used, check it thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance has been dropped onto a hard surface or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used as even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the
appliance. -
Caution: Any misuse of the appliance can cause severe personal injury. Keep children away from packaging material as it may pose a choking hazard.

Important safety instructions
- In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the kettle and the base with water and do not immerse them in water. Do not clean under running water.
- The appliance must be descaled at regular intervals. Clean the water container as necessary with a damp cloth.
- Detailed information on cleaning the appliance can be found in the section Cleaning and care.
- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
- Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
- Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age.
- The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
- This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as
- in staff kitchens in shops, offices and other similar working environments,
- in agricultural working environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels, etc. and similar accommodations,
- in bed-and-breakfast type environments.
- The exterior surfaces become hot during use and will remain so for some time afterward.
- Do not leave the kettle unattended during operation. Use only pure water when filling the container to the desired level, observing the Min. (0.5 l) and Max. (1.0 l) markings on the water level indicator. Overfilling the container may cause danger from boiling water being forced out.
- Also beware of the danger of scalding from hot steam being emitted. Therefore, do not touch any parts of the appliance except the handle during use.
- Caution! During the boiling process and when pouring out hot water, the lid must be kept closed at all times.
- The kettle may only be operated with the base provided with the appliance.
- Never remove the water container from the base (or replace it) while the appliance is switched on.
- If the water container is not on its base, ensure that it cannot slip on any smooth surface.
- The electrical connections in the base must be protected at all times against possible contact with water.
- Caution : Any misuse of the appliance can cause severe personal injury.
- Caution : Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
- The appliance must be used only on a heat-resistant, level surface.
- Do not operate the appliance below a hanging cupboard or similar object; there is a risk that escaping steam may be trapped underneath.
- Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to come into contact with open flames or any hot surfaces such as hot-plates.
- Do not let the power cord hang free, and keep the cord well away from hot parts of the housing.
- Take special care when you carry the container with hot water in.
- Always remove the plug from the wall socket,
- in case of any malfunction,
- after use,
- during cleaning.
Intended use
- This appliance is solely designed for heating clean, fresh water. Any other form of use must be considered improper and may lead to personal injuries or material damage.
- It is not suitable for heating milk, tea or other food or beverages.
Thermal safety cut-out
The pre-set thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from overheating should the appliance be erroneously switched on without any water, or if the heating plate is calcified. Once the safety cut-out has switched off the kettle, it must be allowed to cool down sufficiently, or must be descaled before it is switched on again.
Before using for the first time
To clean the kettle, boil and discard the first filling of water.
Boiling water
- Remove the water container from its base.
- Press the lid-opener on the handle to open the lid, and fill the container with water to the desired level, observing the Min (0.5 l) and Max (1.0 l) markings.
- Close the lid and place the container back on its base.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and press the On/Off switch; the indicator light comes on.
- The boiling process begins. After reaching the boiling point, the appliance is automatically switched off by the integral steam cut-off device; the indicator light goes out.
- To interrupt the boiling process, set the On/Off switch to its Off position.
- To pour hot water, remove the container from its base.
- To prevent hot steam from being emitted, ensure that the lid remains closed while pouring out the water.
- Remove the plug from the wall outlet after use (the red indicator light goes out).
- Do not leave any residual water in the container.
Power cord wind-up storage
The wind-up power cord storage under the base facilitates limiting the length of the power cord during use and makes it easy to store the appliance.
Descaling
- Depending on the water quality in your area, lime deposits may build up on the heating element. It is advisable to remove any such deposits at regular intervals.
- Any warranty claim will be null and void if the appliance malfunctions because of insufficient descaling.
- A mixture of 0.5 litres of water and 40 ml of vinegar essence is suitable.
- Pour the descaler in.
- Switch the appliance on and let the solution reach boiling point.
- Leave it to take effect for a short period.
- To clean the container after descaling, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- During descaling, ensure sufficient ventilation and do not inhale any vinegar vapours.
- Do not pour descalers down enamel-coated sinks.
Cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the kettle and the base with water and do not immerse them in water. Do not clean under running water.
- For cleaning, a slightly damp, lint-free cloth may be used.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions, and do not use hard brushes for cleaning.
Disposal
Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
