INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
BEFORE USE: CONNECTION TO POWER SUPPLY AND USE OF THE BATTERIES Parents’ unit:
The parents’ unit of this baby monitor is designed to work with the AC/DC
adapters or batteries included. It includes 2 rechargeable batteries x AAA
1.2V 800mAh Ni-MH for the parents’ unit.
We recommend the use of the batteries in the parents’ unit in order to be able
to hear the baby unit anywhere (within the appliance’s coverage radius).
The rechargeable batteries must be charged for at least 16 hours before using
them for the first time or if they haven’t been used for some time.
– Take off the battery compartment cover (13) at the rear of the parent unit,
pressing and sliding it downwards. Insert the rechargeable batteries following
the polarity marked on the unit itself and closing the cover check.
– Connect the USB part of your charging cable to the USB socket of the power
adapter and the other end to the baby unit. Connect the adapter to the mains.
The on and charging LED (9) will flash green when charging.
The LED comes on green when the charging is complete.
Baby unit:
The baby unit is designed to work with the AC/DC adapter or with non-
rechargeable alkaline batteries which are not included.
– Connect the USB part of your charging cable to the USB socket of the power
adapter and the other end to the baby unit. Connect the adapter to the mains.
If you wish to use the baby unit with batteries, take off the compartment
cover (20), and insert 3 alkaline batteries AAA 1.5V (not included) and close
it again.
Warning: Strangulation Hazard – Keep cord out of baby’s reach. NEVER
place a unit with cables less than a meter away from the crib. Never use
extension cords with AC adapters.
OPERATION
Turning on the units:
- Parents’ unit: press the on/off button (1) for two seconds. The on and charging LED (9) will be green.
- Baby unit: press the on/off button (18) for two seconds. The on indicator/nightlight (17) will be green.
Once you have prepared your baby monitor, you can listen to the sounds captured in your baby’s room via the parents’ unit. You can also observe how the LED sound indicators flash: when the sound captured is low, only the first of the LEDs (10) will flash, but when the sound captured is loud, both LEDs (10 and 11) will flash red.
Turning off the units:
- Parents’ unit: press the on/off button (1) for two seconds.
- Baby unit: press the on/off button (18) for two seconds.
Enabling by sound (VOX)
This function allows the enabling of your baby monitor by sound when it is in
idle mode.
If the baby unit does not detect any sound or the sound captured is under the
sensibility threshold for 20 seconds, it will stop transmitting. However, it
will keep picking up the sounds around it using a minimum amount of power. The
parents’ unit will enter into idle mode and it will remain silent.
When the baby unit detects any sound whose intensity is greater than the
device’s sensitivity threshold, it will start transmitting the signal again to
the parents’ unit.
Sound sensitivity
Some babies are noisier than others! You can personalise the sensitivity of your baby monitor to adjust it to your baby. Adjust the “High” sensitivity for a baby who sleeps peacefully with quiet crying, adjust to “Low” sensitivity if the baby usually makes noise whilst sleeping or makes very loud noises before crying.
It is possible to select between these two sensitivity levels. With this in mind, put the VOX switch (22) in the LOW position if you wish to select the lowest sensitivity level. Put it in the HIGH position to select the maximum sensitivity
Volume
You can adjust the desired volume to listen to your baby from amongst the 9 levels available, using the buttons to raise/lower the volume (2 and 7) at the front of the parents’ unit. Whilst the volume level is selected, the icon (D) will be displayed on the screen indicating how the volume increases or falls.
The volume level selection will not affect the sensitivity of your baby monitor, which is configured as has been shown in the previous section, solely at the volume at which the sounds will be heard in the parents’ unit.
Vibration
If the parent unit is in very noisy surroundings, the user may not hear the
sound from the speaker.
The user can in this case turn on vibration mode. When this mode is activated,
the parent unit vibrates each time the baby unit detects a sound that is
louder than the noise threshold corresponding to the sensitivity level
selected.
You can activate vibration mode at any time, by holding down the RAISE VOLUME button (2) for 5 seconds. The vibration icon (E) will appear in the display window. To deactivate vibration mode, hold down the same button (2) again for 5 seconds. The vibration icon (E) will disappear.
If you select the lower sound level, vibration mode will automatically be activated, and the icon (E) will be shown in the display window.
Low battery warning and charging indicator
Whilst the batteries of the parents’ units are charging, the charging and on
LED indicator (9) flashes green (if the parents’ unit is on and in LOW mode)
or alternatively red and orange (if it is off or on and in ZERO mode).
Furthermore, the battery level indicator icon (A) will also show the process.
When the batteries are fully charged, this LED (9) will come on continuously
and the indicator (A) will show a totally charged battery.
The approximate charging time of the batteries is the parents’ unit is around
3-7 hours, depending on the initial charging status of the batteries at the
time when the process starts.
When the batteries are totally charged, the mean autonomy of the parents’ unit
will be 5-6 hours and will depend on the duration of the listening/idle
cycles. The maximum autonomy will be up to 9-11 hours in the event that the
baby unit is in a silent environment for the majority of the time.
The charging status is shown on the screen,
= completely charged
= around three quarters charged
= around half-charged
= batteries almost run out
and flashing = the batteries need to be recharged
When the battery level at the parents’ unit is low, the latter will emit a warning beep every 30 seconds, the charging and on LED indicator (9) will flash red and the battery level indicator (A) will flash empty. When this occurs, charge the parent’s unit. You can keep using the baby monitor whilst the parents’ unit is charging.
Paging (parents’ unit search)
This option is used to locate the parents’ unit when it is not possible to
locate it. It is also very useful when one of the parents is in the baby’s
room and needs to contact the other.
At the baby unit, keep pressed in for 3 seconds the nightlight/baby unit
search button (16). The parents’ unit will then emit a beep which may be
disabled by pressing any parents’ unit button.
Nightlight
The baby unit has a nightlight (16) which emits a soft light, providing your
baby with comfort and allowing it to see in a dark room.
To turn the nightlight on or off, press the nightlight/baby unit search button
(16). The nightlight can also be controlled by pressing the button (3) at the
parents’ unit. The nightlight indicator icon (B) will be shown on the display
when the nightlight is on.
Talking to your baby
You can talk to your baby from the parents’ unit (perhaps to calm it down
whilst on your way) or to your partner (if he/she is in the baby’s room).
Press and keep pressed in the two-way button (6) and talk into the front of
the parents’ unit. The two-way mode indicator (F) will appear on the screen.
Let the button out to listen to the baby again.
Bear in mind that you can’t listen to your baby whilst you are talking to
him/her until you release the two-way button (6).
Lullabies
You can calm the baby down so it can sleep more easily by means of a soothing
lullaby which will play on the baby’s unit. To enable this function, keep the
button (8) pressed in for 3 seconds.
The lullabies’ indicator icon (C) will appear on the display and the first
lullaby will start to play in the baby unit. The 5 lullabies available will be
played cyclically for 15 minutes. You can choose the first of the lullabies by
playing it or changing the song being played by pressing the button (8).
To lower lullaby volume, hold down the RAISE VOLUME button (2) and press LOWER
VOLUME (7). To raise lullaby volume, hold down the LOWER VOLUME button (7) and
press RAISE VOLUME (2).
Keep pressed in for 3 seconds the button (8) to disable the lullabies’
function.
Temperature
To look after your baby’s health it is very important for the room where
he/she is located to be at a suitable temperature.
Your baby monitor can help you to show the temperature of the baby’s room (in
degrees centigrade) at the parents’ unit, warning them whether the temperature
is rising or falling outside a defined range. You can choose to change the
temperature mode from ºC to F by quickly pressing the lullaby button (8) 3
times in a row.
If the room temperature is 31ºC or more, the temperature and the word HI will
be shown alternatively. The parents’ unit will emit a warning beep every 30
seconds.
If the room temperature is between 16°C and 30ºC, the room temperature will be
shown on the display.
If the room temperature is 15°C or less, the temperature and the word LO will
be shown alternatively. The parents’ unit will emit a warning beep every 30
seconds.
You can deactivate the warning by holding down the LOWER VOLUME button (7) for
5 seconds;
you will hear a beep telling you that it has been deactivated. If you wish to
reactivate the warning, hold down the LOWER VOLUME button (7) again for 5
seconds; you will hear two beeps indicating that it has been activated.
NOTE: Temperature indicator in ZERO mode.
In this mode, there is no connection between the two units because no beacon
signal is sent. Due to this, the parent unit is not able to display the
temperature of the baby unit in real time.
For this reason, when ZERO mode is selected, the parent unit when goes into
standby mode will display ECO on the screen.
Mode selection: zero emissions (ZERO) and low radiation (LOW)
The baby unit includes special transmission technology called Zero Emissions.
When the baby unit is in idle mode and no sound can be detected in the room
where the baby unit is located, the latter does not emit any radiation.
It is possible to choose the communication mode between the two units between
Low Radiation (LOW) or Zero Emissions (ZERO). It is possible to choose the
communication mode between the two units by making 3 short presses on the ON /
OFF button (1) of the parent unit.
NOTE: Each time the units are turned off or turned on, the device will be reset to LOW mode by default.
Zero emissions’ mode (ZERO)
Adjustment:
Check that the charging and on LED indicator (9) is lit up green as this means
that the baby monitor is configured in LOW mode (if it is lit up orange,
nothing would need to be done as the baby monitor would already be configured
in ZERO mode). It is possible to choose the communication mode between the two
units by making 3 short presses on the ON / OFF button
(1) of the parent unit. While pressing the button a beep that will cease in a
few seconds will be heard. Finally you will see that the LED (9) turns from
green to orange, indicating that the ZERO mode is active.
Operation:
During the normal operating mode of the baby monitor (LOW), the baby unit
periodically sends a beacon signal to the parents’ unit, informing them that
it is connected and working even if the baby unit does not detect any sound.
However, it is possible to select the ZERO operating mode in which this beacon
signal will not be transmitted, managing to avoid any emission whilst the baby
monitor is idle. When the baby unit does not detect any sound in the
surroundings, this will be an environment with zero emissions in which the
baby monitor will not emit any radiation.
When the baby unit detects a sound above the VOX sensitivity threshold
selected, it will start transmitting a signal which will be received by the
parents’ unit with a view to establishing communication between both units.
This process will last less than one second.
From this time onwards the parents’ unit will retransmit the sounds captured
by the baby unit.
NOTE: Out of range Indicator
Owing to the fact that the baby unit does not transmit the periodic beacon
signal when the “ZERO” mode has been selected, the parents’ unit is unable to
detect whether it is within the coverage radius or not. Hence, it is possible
for the parents’ unit to be out of the range of the baby unit without the
parents being aware thereof.
It is recommended to use this operating mode when the parents’ unit is
situated in a fixed place where it has first been checked that the coverage is
correct such as the bedside table. It can also be used by moving the parents’
unit provided that it has first been checked that the coverage is correct
throughout the displacement radius.
Normal operating or low radiation mode (LOW)
Adjustment:
Check that the charging and on LED indicator (9) is lit up orange as this
means that the baby monitor is configured in ZERO mode (if it is lit up green,
nothing would need to be done as the baby monitor would already be configured
in LOW mode). It is possible to choose the communication mode between the two
units by making 3 short presses on the ON / OFF button
(1) of the parent unit. While pressing the button a beep that will cease in a
few seconds will be heard. Finally you will see that the LED (9) turns from
orange to green, indicating that the LOW mode is active.
Operation:
As stated above, during the normal operating mode of the baby monitor (LOW),
the baby unit periodically sends a beacon signal to the parents’ unit,
informing them that it is connected and working even if the baby unit does not
detect any sound. This signal lasts for 1 second and is emitted 4 times every
20 seconds. If the parents’ unit receives this signal, the charging and on LED
indicator (9) remains lit up green to indicate that the unit falls within the
coverage radius.
Otherwise, if the parents’ unit is incapable of receiving the beacon signal
after 20 seconds, the charging and on LED indicator (9) will flash red and
green alternatively, emitting a beep with three tones as a warning.
By selecting the “LOW” mode, a continuous low power connection is established
between the parents’ unit and the baby unit meaning that the delay in the
connection indicated for the “ZERO” mode is not produced when the baby unit
detects a sound whilst idle.
Alarm out of range
If the connection between the parents’ unit and the baby unit is lost at any
time, both LEDS indicating the sound level of the parents’ unit will flash
alternatively red for 20 seconds to indicate that the baby unit is being
looked for and the temperature (G) will stop being shown, with two horizontal
lines flashing in its place on the display. If, after these 20 seconds, the
connection is not re-established (the beacon signal is not received which is
sent by the baby unit), the charging and on LED indicator (9) will flash red
and green alternatively whilst the parents’ unit emits a
beep with three tones and the coverage indicator symbol (H) will also flash by
way of a warning.
In the latter case, to re-establish the link between both units, make sure
that the parents’ unit falls within the coverage radius of the baby unit
(bring the units closer to each other and wait for around 5 seconds) and make
sure that both units are on. If the link is not re-established, this means
that the baby and parents’ units have lost their connection and it must be re-
established.
Connection of the units (pairing)
If the connection between both units has been lost and it is impossible to re- establish it by following the indications of the previous paragraph above, please follow the steps provided for pairing the parents’ unit with the baby unit: simultaneously press the on/off buttons of both units (1 and 18) for 3 seconds with both units initially off. Both units must be automatically linked.
