VISUAL COMFORT S 5686 Callaway Medium Hanging Shade

Product Information

The Callaway Medium Hanging Shade is a light fixture that can be installed in any room. It is designed to be installed in accordance with all applicable, local installation codes, and by a person familiar with the construction and operation of it, as well as the hazards involved. The light fixture comes with all the necessary parts and tools required for installation, except for the bulbs.

Tools Required (Not Included):

• Phillips Screwdriver
• Slotted Screwdriver
• Slip Joint Pliers
• Measuring Tape
• Wire Strippers
• Chain Pliers
• Wire Cutters

Usage Instructions:

1. Remove all parts from the box and place them on a clean, soft surface.

2. Remove collar loop (D) from chain (H) by removing quick link (G).

3. Install mounting plate (B) to the junction box and secure it with mounting screws (C).

4. Secure collar loop (D) to mounting plate (B) using pliers to tighten the lock nut.

5. Install canopy (E) to collar loop (D) and secure it with collar ring (F).

6. Determine the desired overall length and amount of chain (H) needed. Shorten the chain using chain pliers. Keep extra chain.

7. Attach chain (H) to collar loop (D) and hanging loop (I) using quick links (G). Secure quick links (G).

8. Thread fixture wire and ground wire through the chain (H). When you reach the collar loop (D), ensure there is no tension on the wires.
   Cut excess wires, being sure to leave about 12 inches to reach the junction box.

9. Separate two sides of the molded wire and strip insulation on each 5/8 inch.

10. Loosen collar ring (F) and let canopy (E) slip down chain (H) carefully.

11. Twist all fixture wires together. Slip through the center hole of the collar loop (D). Untwist wires and separate to prepare for connection.

12. Wrap fixture ground wire (bare copper) around the green grounding screw (see diagram 1). Tighten. Continue fixture ground wire and connect to supply ground wire (usually green or bare copper) using wire nut (A). It is imperative that the fixture is grounded.

13. Connect fixture neutral wire (ribbed) to the supply neutral wire (usually white) using wire nut (A).

14. Connect fixture hot wire (smooth with markings) to the supply hot wire (usually black) using wire nut (A). CAUTION: Do not reverse the hot and neutral connections.

15. Make sure all wire connections are tight, then carefully tuck into the junction box.

16. Install canopy (E) to mounting plate (B) and secure it with collar ring (F).

17. Install shade split washer (M) under the knurled ring (J) and secure by screwing tight as shown in diagram 2.

18. Install bulbs into the sockets.

19. Place the diffuser (L) into the bottom of shade (K).

NOTICE:
This light fixture should be installed in accordance with all applicable, local installation codes, and by a person familiar with the construction and operation of it, as well as the hazards involved. Inspect item and contents carefully. If any damage or defect is found, do not install. Retain all packaging material until installation is complete and approved.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Care Instructions

Clean only with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. Do not use abrasive or chemical agents.
