Inverter Firmware Update Guide FP-Envy 8K/10K/12K

Please read carefully before performing software update to the inverter.

Product Information

The inverter firmware update guide is for FP-Envy 8K/10K/12K inverters. Each firmware update consists of two files that can be downloaded from the support section of the website, www.fortresspower.com/firmware. The individual files consist of two integers and when both updates are performed, the inverter will readout 0000 on the firmware version section.

The inverter firmware update should not be performed if the battery is measuring below 50.5V. It is recommended to check this value in the LCD screen, APP or Web Portal before proceeding with the update.

It is important to ensure that the inverter has power backup/off-grid output disabled and is on standby before performing the update. In grid-tied applications, the inverter will use AC passthrough in this process. Loads should be turned off for off-grid applications.

The local firmware update method involves downloading the Envy Fortress Power APP located both in Apple App Store and Google Play Store on a mobile device. A dongle needs to be plugged into the inverter while it is energized. The firmware can be downloaded from the Envy APP and updated using the mobile device. The verification code number provided in the guide needs to be inputted before updating each file. The firmware version can be confirmed by accessing the Settings>Device Info>Build Version.

Product Usage Instructions

Follow the below steps to update the firmware using the local firmware update (mobile method) on a mobile device:

Download the Envy Fortress Power APP located both in Apple App Store and Google Play Store on a mobile device.
Plug the Dongle to the inverter while inverter is energized.
While using your mobile data or Wi-fi with internet connection, access the Envy APP and select Download Firmware.
Select the Latest Firmware and press download. Wait until ‘This Firmware Downloaded Successfully’ message appears.
Repeat step 4 to download the second file.
On your mobile device settings, connect to the Dongles Wi-Fi Network usually named BA****.
Return to the Envy App on the download firmware section and select Connect Device and Update.
Once redirected to the Local Monitor page, select SET.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Update Firmware.
Choose one of the two files to update and select Update Firmware.
Input the Verification Code number provided in this guide.
Tap LCD screen and confirm file is being uploaded into the Inverter. The inverter will also be flashing a green LED during this process. Once completed, the inverter will automatically restart. Afterwards, repeat Step 10-12 using the second firmware file.
Confirm Firmware version by accessing the Settings>Device Info>Build Version.

Precautionary Statement

Please Read Carefully Before Performing Software Update to the Inverter

Each Firmware Update Consist of 2 files included in the Download side of the Support section located in
www.fortresspower.com/firmware. Individual Files will consist of two integers. For example, the file will read APP_PCS_fAAB_xx00 or APP_PCS_FAAB-00xx. When both updates are performed, the Inverter will readout 0000 on the Firmware Version section.
Do not Perform Firmware Update with battery/ies measuring below 50.5V. You can view this value in the LCD screen, APP or Web Portal.
Make sure that the inverter has power backup/ off-grid output disabled and is on Standby. The inverter in Grid-tied applications will use AC passthrough in this process.
Make sure that loads are turned off for off-grid applications.
Do not Perform Updates if the system is being used without battery mode. It Is not needed nor necessary.
Do not exceed 10 meters of distance from dongle when performing a Local Firmware Update as this may interrupt or cancel the update process.
Inverter goes through two processes when updating each file. The first one is uploading the file to the inverter. The second process is the inverter integrating the file internally. Caution do not interrupt or disconnect inverter from a power source during the second process. Doing so may cause damage to the inverter.

Local Firmware Update (Mobile Method)

Download the Envy Fortress Power APP Located both in Apple App Store and Google Play Store on a mobile device.
Plug the Dongle to the inverter while inverter is energized.
While using your mobile data or Wi-fi with internet connection, access the Envy APP and Select Download Firmware
Select the Latest Firmware and press download. Wait until “This Firmware Downloaded Sucesfully” message appears.
Repeat step 4 to download the second file.
On your mobile device settings, connect to the Dongles Wi-Fi Network usually named BA****
Return to the Envy App on the download firmware section and select “Connect Device and Update.”
Once redirected to the Local Monitor page, Select “SET”.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Update Firmware”.
Choose one of the two files to update and select “Update Firmware.”
Input the Verification Code number provided in this guide.

Local or Remote Firmware Update (Web Portal Method)

Access the Fortress Power Website at www.fortresspower.com/firmware and the download all files associated with the inverter.
Access the Envy Web portal by accessing envy.fortresspower.io on a computer and input installer or end user credentials. Follow the steps and images below.

Go to Maintain Section
Select Remote Update
Choose the first file under the DSP folder.
Select Upload File
Confirm that the firmware name matches the firmware in folder.
Select the Station being Updated.
Select Update
Confirm that the file is being uploaded. This process usually takes less than 10 minutes depending on the internet connection strength and/or distance. Success message will appear after the update has been completed.
Repeat steps 5-10 (using M3 file)
