PERSONAL SAFETY NOTICE

GETTING STARTED

USING THE REMOTE CONTROL

  • Point the remote control at the remote sensor located on the unit.
  • When there is a strong ambient light source, the performance of the infrared remote sensor
  • may be degraded, causing unreliable operation.
  • The recommended effective distance for remote operation is about 16 feet (5 meters).

TO INSTALL THE BATTERIES

  1. Open the battery door.
  2. Insert 2″AAA”batteries

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

When the batteries become weak, the operating distance of the remote control is greatly reduced and you will need to replace the batteries
CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced

NOTES

  • If the remote control is not going to be used for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid damage caused by battery leakage corrosion.
  • Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix ALKALINE, standard (CARBON-ZINC) or rechargeable (NICKEL-CADMIUM) batteries.
  • Always remove batteries as soon as they become weak.
  • Weak batteries can leak and severely damage the remote control

WARNING:

  • Do not dispose batteries in a fire. Batteries may explode or leak.
  • Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

  1. POWER ( ): Tums the lV on or off.
  2. MUTE ( ): Reduces the TV volume to its minimum level. Press again to restore the volume.
  3. NUMBER BUTTONS: Press 0-9 and select a TV channel directly when you are watching TV.

  5. Recall ( ): Returns to the previous channel.
  6. AUDIO: Switch the audio channel To TV mode.

  18. OK: Enter and confirm button.
  19. MENU: Accesses the Main Menu, or return to the upper level of a sub-menu.

  31. RED/GREEN/YEUOW/BLUE: The control function of these buttons does not apply to this model.

FRONT VIEW

About remote control working distance and angle, see next page.
Power/Standby Indicator: Blue and red dual-color LED. It shows red when the TV is turned off and blue when turned on. Remote Control Sensor: Remote control lR sensor, which receives infrared ray sent by remote control.
NOTE : If there is a protective film around the screen, remove the protective film before using the TV.

  1. POWER(  )/OK: In the off mode, Short press to turn on the TV. In the on mode, Short press to achieve OK function, long press to achieve POWER function.
    POWER ( ):Turns the TV on and off.
    OK: Enter and confirm.

  2. VOL-: Decreases the volume. In the TV menu system, it acts like the left arrow on the remote control and can be used to select menu options.

  3. VOL+: Increases the volume. In the TV menu system, it acts like the right arrow on the remote control and  can be used to select menu options.

  4. MENU/CH-: Short press to achieve CH- function, long press to achieve MENU function.
    MENU: Displays the TV Main Menu.

  • OPTICAL: Connect to an external digital audio device.
  • HDMl1/2/3: Select HDMl1/HDMl2/HDMl3 source input.
  • RF: Connect the antenna.
  • VGA: Connect a computer to these jacks.
  • PC Audio in: Connect the Audio output jack of PC.
  • CVBS: Connect an AV device that has composite video jacks, such as a VCR or DVD player.
    • L: Left audio channel connection.
    • R: Right audio channel connection.
  • USB Media Player: Connect USB device, such as flash disk to access media function of TV. (Support format: TXT for Text. MP3 for music. JPG and JPEG for photo).
    NOTE: It can not play in video format.
    EARPHONE: Connect a 3.5mm headphone for personal audio.

WALL MOUNT INSTALLATION

INSTALLING/ REMOVING THE BASE STAND
WARNING : The LED Display is very fragile, and must be protected at all times when removing the base Stand .
Be sure that no hard or sharp object or anything that could scratch or damage the LED display comes into contact with it Do NOT exert pressure on the front of the unit at any time because the screen could crack.

  1. Disconnect all cables or cords connected to the unit.
  2. Lay the unit down on a flat surface with the back side facing up Please make sure to place a soft cushioned material ( such as a pillow or thick piece of foam) beneath the screen.

MOUNTING ON THE WALL
This unit is VESA-compliant and is designed to be wall-mounted with a VESA- compliant S”x 8″ (200mm x200mm) mounting kit designed for flat-panel TVs (not supplied). The length of screw should not exceed 8 mm

Installation

Your TV is packaged with the stand and the cabinet separated. Before using the TV, install the stand as described below, or if you want to mount it to a wall, see page 7 for mounting advice; the wall mount itself is not supplied.

IMPORTANT!

  • Make sure the TV set is unplugged from the power supply before installing or removing the stand.
  • The TV panel may be awkward to install on your own. We recommend you ask someone to help with installation and/or removal of the stand.

Attaching the stand

  • Step 1
    Place a soft cushioned material on top of a flat surface to prevent damaging the screen panel. Then place the TV monitor flat on top, with the screen side facing down, as illustrated on the right (1 ).RCA-RLDED4016A-H 40Inch-D-LED-

  • Step2
    Align the screw holes on the stand and the bottom of the TV, as illustrated on the right (2).

  • Step 3
    Tighten the screws (supplied) with a screwdriver to affix the stand to the panel, as illustrated on the right (3).
    NOTE : Do not apply excessive force as this may damage the screw holes.

CONNECTIONS

CONNECTING A TV ANTENNA/ CABLE/ SATELLITE

To view television channels correctly, a signal must be received from one of the following sources:

  • An indoor or outdoor aerial antenna
  • A cable system
  • A satellite system

NOTE
For receiving over-the-air TV broadcasts, we recommend that you use an external fixed antenna. Should you require the use of a temporary antenna, please ensure that you purchase an antenna with sufficient ability to receive in weak signal areas. Only when you are in close proximity to a transmitter will a temporary antenna reproduce a signal as strongly as a fixed antenna.

CONNECTING AN A/V DEVICE
To connect to other equipment such as a VCR, camcorder, satellite system or cable, etc.

CONNECTING DEVICES WITH A COMPOSITE VIDEO OUTPUT

  • To connect A/V devices such as a VCR, video game system or camcorder.
  • Connecting to a VCR/ Video Game System/ Camcorder
  • Connect the AUDIO /VIDEO cable (not included) as shown.
  • Make sure you connect the cable from the other equipment ( AUDIO and VIDEO OUT) to this unit (AV in)

CONNECTING A HIGH-DEFINITION (HD) SOURCE USING HDMI CONNECTION

  • HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) supports both video and audio on a single digital connection for use with DVD players, DTV, set-top boxes and other digital AV devices. HDMI was developed to provide the technologies of High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) as well as Digital Visual Interface (DVI) in one specification. HDCP is used to protect digital content transmitted and received by
  • DVl-compliant or HDMlcompliant displays.
  • HDMI has the capability to support standard, enhanced or high-definition video plus standard to multi-channel surround-sound audio. HDMI features include uncompressed digital video, a bandwidth of up to 2.2 gigabytes per second (with HDTV signals), one connector (instead of several cables and connectors), and communication between the AV source and AV devices such as DTVs.

Connect the HDMI cable (not included) as shown:

CONNECTING A PC

  • Connect the 15-pin D-SUB PC/VGA connector from your computer to the 15-pin D-SUB PC/VGA input on this unit using a monitor cable and an audio cable (not included) as shown.
  • Make sure you connect the cable from the computer (VGA and AUDIO – PC OUT ) to this unit (VGA and AUDIO – PC IN ).

CONNECTING HEADPHONES

  • Turn down the volume before connecting the headphones to the unit, then adjust the volume to your desired level.

NOTE
Avoiding listening to sound at high Levels for prolonged periods of time. This may be harmful to you and may cause hearing loss.

CONNECTING THE POWER CORD

You can power on your TV unit before you make sure the power cord is inserted well. At the same time, please check that the rated voltage of your unit matches your local Voltage.

NOTE

  • Insert the power plug fully into the socket outlet. (If the power plug is loose, it could generate heat and cause fire .)
  • Ensure that the power plug is easily accessible.
  • Ensure the earth pin on the power plug is securely connected to prevent electrical shock.
  • Do not touch the power plug with a wet hand. (This may cause electrical shock)
  • Do not use any power cord other than that provided with this TV. (This may cause fire or electrical shock.)
  • Do not damage the power cord. (A damaged cord may cause fire or electrical shock.)
  • Do not move the TV with the cord plugged in the socket outlet.
  • Do not place a heavy object on the cord or place the cord near a high-temperature object.
  • Do not twist the cord, bend it excessively, or stretch it.
  • Do not use a damaged power plug or socket outlet.

Connection to a Home Theater Audio System

For BEST audio performance

Connecting to a Home Theater System Dolby Digital can deliver optimal 2 channel stereo or surround sound with five discrete full range channels plus a sixth channel for a subwoofer.
Enjoy optimal sound reproduction from your system with a Dolby Digital amplifier that incorporates a digital optical input. Connect an optional digital cable directly to the television’s optical audio output to listen through all inputs except VGA.

How To Setup Digital Audio Output
Press the MENU button on the remote control Press the right ► arrow button to select sound Press the down T arrow button to highlight Spdif type ► Raw, PCM or Off.

NOTE : Refer to the User Manual from your home theater equipment for recommended audio settings.

INITIAL SETUP

PUTTING THE UNIT ON A PROPER PLACE

  • When you turn on your television set for the first time, be sure to place it on a solid stable surface.
  • To avoid danger, do not expose the TV to water, or a heat source (e.g. lamp, candle, radiator).
  • Do not obstruct the ventilation grid at the rear and be sure to leave sufficient gaps around the unit.

TURNING THE UNIT ON FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • After you have initially connected your TV antenna or cable, turn the television ON.
  • A screen will display asking you to run a Channel Auto Scan to search and receive available local digital channels.
  • It is here where you will select antenna options and run Channel Auto Scan.

SOURCE SELECTION

  1. Press the INPUT button on the remote control.
  2. Use the  or  button to select the options (TV.AV, HDMl,PC, USB Media Player) and select any of them using the OK button. (The screen will change to your desired source).

Before watching please make sure all necessary cables and devices are connected.

TV SETUP

CHANNEL MENU

  • Press MENU button to display the main menu.

  1. AIR/CABLE
    This feature allows you to switch between air (such as using antenna) and cable.

  2. AUTO SCAN
    This feature searches channels automatically for you.

  3. FAVORITE
    This feature gives the favorite list of channels added by you.

  4. CHANNEL LIST
    This feature shows the list of stored channels.

  5. SHOW/HIDE
    This feature tells you if you have chosen for the channel to be skipped.

  6. CHANNEL NUMBER
    This feature tells you what channel you are currently on.

  7. CHANNEL LABEL
    This feature changes the name of the channel.

Please Note:
The channel options are only available when you select TV as your SOURCE. When you open the OSD menu on other sources (HDMI, Component, AV)these options will be grayed out.

PICTURE MENU

  • Press MENU button to display the main menu.

  1. PICTURE MODE
    This feature changes various color modes for the TV.

  2. BRIGHTNESS
    This feature changes the picture’s detail in dark colors.

  3. CONTRAST
    This feature changes the difference between dark and bright objects.

  4. COLOR
    This feature changes the amount of color in the picture.

  5. TINT (The “Tint” item only works in user mode.)
    Adjusting tint will affect the skin tone. -50 will increase red, +50 will increase green. Ideally, the tint scale on the TV OSD should show the red/green color for easy adjustment.

  6. SHARPNESS
    This feature changes the picture quality.

  7. COLOR TEMPERATURE
    This feature adjusts the color temperature of the TV, giving warm, normal, cool.

ADVANCED SETTINGS

  • ASPECT RATIO This feature changes the various aspects of the TV’s video. (Aspects include wide, zoom, cinema.normal).
  • NOISE REDUCTION This feature reduces general pixilation by blurring them.
  • DYNAMIC CONTRAST This feature allows the TV to automatically adjust the contrast of the TV depending on the picture you are viewing.
  • HDMI MODE Video Mode will do overscan, use different aspect ratio; Graphic Mode do not overscan, display 100% video.

SOUND MENU

  • Press MENU button to display the main menu.

  1. SOUND MODE
    Allow the selection of an audio-enhancement technique: Standard/Music/Movie/User/Sports. Alternative: you may press the S.MODE button to select the sound mode directly.

  2. BASS
    Control the relative intensity of lower-pitched sounds. (For User mode)

  3. TREBLE
    Control the relative intensity of higher-pitched sounds. (For User mode)

  4. BALANCE
    Adjust the relative volume of the speaker in a multiple speaker system.

  5. MTS
    This feature adjusts the second audio programming in analog channels.

  6. AUDIO LANGUAGE
    This feature adjusts the digital second audio programming in digital channels.

  7. DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT
    This feature adjusts the digital audio output.

  8. SURROUND SOUND
    This feature adjusts the dimensional surround effect on or off (for built-in speakers only).

  9. AVL
    This feature adjusts the auto volume leveler enabling volume protection from overly loud commercials.

Please Note:
AUDIO LANGUAGE and MTS are dependent on the broadcasting station’s support and are only available under the source TV.

TIME MENU

  • Press MENU button to display the main menu.

  1. SLEEP TIMER
    This timer automatically turns off the TV at the designated time.

  2. TIMEZONE
    This option adjusts the global time zone for the TV.

  3. DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME
    This option toggles the daylight saving time feature.

  4. TIME FORMAT
    This option adjusts the display format for the time.

  5. AUTO CLOCK
    This option enables the TV to sync time with the antenna.
    (Put it on AUTO if you have an antenna attached to the TV. If you have CABLE or SATELLITE or anything else please use make sure AUTO CLOCK is turned off)

  6. CLOCK
    This option adjusts the time and date of the TV.You need to disable AUTO CLOCK in order to use this function.

Please Note:
The TIME function will only keep accurate time if the TV is plugged into a power source.
If the TV is unplugged or the power strip is turned off, the TV’s time will not be accurate.

SETUP MENU

  • Press MENU button to display the main menu.

  1. MENU LANGUAGE
    This option changes the language of the TV’s OSD menu.

  2. TRANSPARENT
    This option changes the transparency of the menu allowing background TV images to show through.

  3. OSD TIMEOUT
    This option changes the time which the TV’s OSD menu automatically goes off.

  4. CLOSED CAPTION
    This option displays words on the TV.

  5. OVER SCAN
    Press ◄ / ► button to select(On / Off).

  6. Source LABEL
    This option changes the source names to your personal preference.

  7. OTHER SETTINGS
    This option adjusts miscellaneous options of the TV.
    AUDIO ONLY-This option turns off the screen while the audio is still playing.

  8. RESTORE DEFAULT
    This option restores all the changes in the OSD menu back to the default factory settings.

  9. SETUP WIZARD
    This option enables the TV to show you the setup wizard of the TV again.

  10. CEC
    Lets you control HDMI CEC-compatible devices.

  11. VIDEO DESCRIPTION
    Change from the main audio to the secondary audio stream that contains video description, and vice versa.

  12. VOICE GUIDANCE
    Set the auto voice guidance control.

Please Note:

  • Closed captioning is only available under AV and TV ports.
  • Closed captioning depends on your TV program’s support. Sometimes due to the TV channel or the signal, closed captioning will not be available.
  • In United States, closed captioning under analog signals is CC1.
  • In United States, closed captioning under digital signal is Service1.

LOCK MENU

  • Press MENU button to display the main menu.

  1. CHANGE PASSWORD
    This option allows you to change the LOCK menu password.

  2. KEY LOCK
    Block or unblock the Key Lock.

  3. SYSTEM LOCK
    This option enables parental locking and filtering for the TV.

  4. INPUT BLOCK
    Block or unblock the input sources.

  5. US RATING
    This option filters US TV programming and movies.

  6. CANADA RATING
    This option filters CANADA TV ratings.

  7. RRT SETTING
    This feature is a downloadable rating filter based on TV broadcasts. With the transition of TV broadcasts to digital, future changes, and enhancements in how TV shows are rated for content are possible.

  8. RESET RRT
    This option resets the RRT settings.

Please Note:
Please refer to RATINGS EXPLAINED for more information on ratings definitions.
Downloadable rating and clear downloadable data might be grayed out depending on the Tvs stations support.
RRT5 options are based on TV broadcasts, if it is grayed out, then it is not available in your region.

USB Media Player

USB Media Menu

  • Before operating the Media menu, Plug in a USB device, then press the INPUT button.
  • Press T / A button to select USB Media Player in the Source menu, then press Enter button to enter.

  • Press ◄/ ► button to select PHOTO in the main menu, then press Enter button to enter.

Music Menu

  • Press ◄/► button to select MUSIC in the main menu, then press Enter button to enter. Press the menu button to return back to the previous menu and exit the menu to quit.
  • Press ◄/► button to select the drive disk you want to watch, then press Enter button to enter.

  • Press ◄/► button to select the menu in the bottom you want to run, then press Enter button to operate.
  • Press the Menu button to back to the previous menu and the exit button to quit the entire menu.

Text Menu

  • Press ◄/► button to select TEXT in the main menu, then press Enter button to enter.
  • Press the menu button to return back to the previous menu and exit menu to quit.
  • Press ◄/► button to select the drive disk you want to watch, then press Enter button to enter.
  • When reading Textbooks, press FF button of the remote to the next page, and press FR button of the remote to the previous page. Press the Next button of the remote to the next part or chapter, and press the PREV button of the remote to the previous part or chapter. 1 Year Warranty
