Safety Instructions

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, injury to persons, and damage to property, read all operating instructions and the following safety instructions before using your Poly product.

Warnings

  • This equipment is intended for indoor use only.
  • This equipment is not intended to be directly connected to outdoor cables.
  • Do not spray liquids directly onto the system when cleaning. Always apply the liquid first to a static-free cloth.
  • Do not immerse the system in any liquids or place any liquids on it.
  • Do not disassemble this system. To reduce the risk of shock and to maintain the warranty on the system, a qualified technician must perform service or repair work.
  • There are no user-serviceable parts inside this product.
  • This equipment is not intended to be operated by children.
  • Users must not service any parts in compartments that require a tool to access.
  • This equipment should be used only on even surfaces.
  • Keep ventilation openings free from any obstructions.
  • The ambient operating temperature rating of this equipment is 0-40°C and should not be exceeded.
  • In order to remove all power from this unit, disconnect all power cables, including any USB or PoE cables.

Additional Warnings for Products with a Power Supply

  • Always disconnect the system from power and telecommunications networks before cleaning or servicing.

  • This product is intended to be powered by an external Limited Power Source (LPS) power supply.
    Use only the type which is supplied with this product.

  • This system is considered to be Pluggable Equipment Type A. The socket outlets must be installed near the equipment and be easily accessible.

  • Always disconnect the system from power and telecommunications networks before cleaning or servicing.

  • This product is intended to be powered by an external Limited Power Source (LPS) power supply.
    Use only the type which is supplied with this product.

  • This system is considered to be Pluggable Equipment Type A. The socket outlets must be installed near the equipment and be easily accessible.

Additional Warnings for Products with a Power Cord

  • Do not use a power cord that is damaged. This could cause fire or electric shock. Contact the manufacturer for a replacement cord, if necessary.
  • Only use a power cord that is appropriately rated and approved relevant to the country of use.
  • When connecting to the mains supply, connect only to an earthed supply outlet which is installed near the equipment and is easily accessible.

Additional Warning for Products with Power over Ethernet (PoE) Functionality

  • If the product is powered using Power over Ethernet, you must use an appropriately rated and approved networking device, or the power injector identified for use with this product.

External Power Supplies
This product must only be used with an external power supply of the type and specification provided with it. Replacement external power supplies can be obtained from the supplier of your Poly equipment.
PoE Products
Products that are designed to be connected to a Power Over Ethernet source must only be connected to an IEEE 802.3 compliant power-over-ethernet (PoE) power source. The power plug and wall socket combination acts as a disconnection device and must be accessible at all times.
Power Cables
Only use the power cables that are supplied with this product, these are correctly rated for this product. Installation of the equipment should be carried out by suitably trained people and must comply with the appropriate local and national electrical codes.

Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC)
This handset product complies with the HAC requirements of 47 CFR 68.316 and 47 CFR 68.317.
Emergency Access – VoIP products
Users of this VoIP product should be aware that depending on the country they are in, and the network they are connected to, the emergency services may not be able to identify the geographic location which they are calling automatically from the IP address.
ENERGY STAR®
ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency. Products that earn the ENERGY STAR prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency criteria or requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As an ENERGY STAR Partner, Poly has followed the U.S. EPA’s enhanced product certification process to ensure that products marked with the ENERGY STAR logo are ENERGY STAR certified per the applicable ENERGY STAR guidelines. The following logo appears on all ENERGY STAR-certified Telephony:

A key ENERGY STAR requirement for Telephones products is power management features at the network and device level including but not limited to OFF mode, external Network Proxy, automatic and timed power down of backlit displays, and other functions.
Backlight intensity and timeout can be adjusted in the basic user settings menu. By default, after the phone is idle for 40 seconds, the backlight dims. The backlight automatically turns on with any phone activity.

To avoid electric shock, do not connect safety extra low voltage (SELV) circuits to teleconference station network (TNV) circuits. LAN ports contain SELV circuits, and WAN ports contain TNV circuits. Some LAN and WAN ports both use RJ-45 connectors. Use caution when connecting cables.
This product is rated 5 VDC, 0.3 amps. When used with the optional external PoE injector, the PoE injector shall be a Listed PoE injector with an LPS output.
Poly Edge E500 & Edge E550
To avoid electric shock, do not connect safety extra low voltage (SELV) circuits to teleconference station network (TNV) circuits. LAN ports contain SELV circuits, and WAN ports contain TNV circuits. Some LAN and WAN ports both use RJ-45 connectors. Use caution when connecting cables.
This product is rated 48 VDC, 0.52 amps. When used with the optional external PoE injector, the PoE injector shall be a Listed PoE injector with an LPS output.
Federal Communication Commission Interference Statement
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one of the following measures:

  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

FCC Caution: Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.
This equipment may not be used on coin service or party lines.
This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
This device meets all the other requirements specified in Part 15E, Section 15.407 of the FCC Rules.

Radiation Exposure Statement:
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment.
This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator & your body.

Installation Instructions
Installation must be performed in accordance with all relevant national wiring rules.
When using Power over Ethernet (PoE), the equipment is to be connected only to PoE networks without connections to the outside plant.
Power-Saving Mode
By default, the Poly Edge E Series enter power-saving mode after a period of idle time to conserve energy. However, the systems do not enter power-saving mode while idle in the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (Poly x20/x50 only) menus. To ensure the system enters power-saving mode, exit the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi menu using the Home or Back key.
In low power mode, the system maintains a network presence and addresses and supports the handling of IPV4 ARP and IPV6 NS/ND. The system, when in LPM, can wake up on a remote network request such as an incoming call.
Plug Acts as Disconnect Device The socket outlet to which this apparatus is connected must be installed near the equipment and must always be readily accessible.
In addition, all PoE sources must meet the Limited Power Source requirements of IEC 60950-1:2005 (2nd Edition); Am1:2009 or IEC 60950-1:2005 (2nd Edition); Am1:2009; Am2:2013.

This mark indicates compliance with 2014/53/EU (Radio Equipment Directive), EC 1275/2008 (Standby Requirements Regulation), EU 801/2013 (Networked Standby Regulation), EC 278/2009 (External Power Supply Regulation), and EN 2011/65 (EC RoHS Directive).
