Maintenance Instructions
The ZURN WILKINS Model 700XL Dual Check Valve is designed for installation on potable water lines where a cross-connection could result in the pollution of potable water. If a health hazard could result from a cross-connection, use a ZURN WILKINS Model 375XL Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Preventer.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Before installation of the valve, flush lines thoroughly to remove all foreign matter from the line. ZURN WILKINS recommends installing a Model SXL strainer upstream of the valve to prevent fouling of the checks.
- The ZURN WILKINS Model 700XL is not position-sensitive. It may be installed horizontally or vertically.
- Install the Model 700XL in a location that will be easy to reach for future maintenance.
- Use caution when soldering near valve. Remove check assemblies if excessive heat will be applied to the valve.
- The Model 700XL must be protected from freezing.
- Do not install the Model 700XL which will be subjected to pressure greater than 175 psi or temperature greater than180° F.
RESIDENTIAL INSTALLATION
MAINTENANCE
Servicing the Model 700XL involves replacing the check assemblies.
- Turn off the inlet water supply.
- Loosen union nut.
- Remove Model 700XL from the line.
- Note the direction of check assemblies and o-ring locations. Push check assemblies out of the valve.
- Clean the inside of the valve body.
- Replace parts in reverse order of removal. Make sure check assemblies are installed in the correct direction.
- Reinstall the valve and turn on the water.
METER SETTER INSTALLATION
WARRANTY: Z URN WILKINS Valves are guaranteed against defects of material or workmanship when used for the services recommended. If in any recommended service, a defect develops due to material or workmanship, and the device is returned, freight prepaid, to ZURN WILKINS within 12 months from the date of purchase, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge. ZURN WILKINS’ liability shall be limited to our agreement to repair or replace the valve only.
