Product Information: ISEF121 Probe

The ISEF121 Probe is a combination fluoride selective electrode with a non- refillable reference and built-in temperature sensor. Ithas a range of 0.01 mg/L (1×10-6) to 19,000 mg/L (1 M) F-, and a pH range of pH 4 to 8, adjusted to 5.0 to 5.5 by ISA. The minimum sample volume required is 25 mL, and it uses Hach fluoride ISA (1 powder pillow per 25 mL standard or sample) as an ionic strength adjuster. The default standard solutions are 0.5, 1 and 2 mg/L Hach fluoride standard solutions.

The probe can be stored dry and should be rinsed with DI water and blotted dry with a lint-free cloth before storage. The sensing element should be protected with the sensor protection cap.

It is important to note that proper laboratory safety procedures should be followed when handling the probe, and all personal protective equipment appropriate to the chemicals being handled should be worn. Refer to the current safety data sheets (MSDS/SDS) for safety protocols.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Collect the following items: Compatible meter, Fluoride standard solutions and ionic strength adjusters; beakers, 50 mL; stirrer plate; DI water; stir bars; lint-free cloth.
  2. Connect the probe to the compatible meter.
  3. Calibrate the probe as per the instructions given in the user manual.
  4. If air bubbles are present under the probe tip when submerged, gently shake the probe until bubbles are removed as they can cause slow stabilization or error in measurement.
  5. Take the sample volume of at least 25 mL and add the required amount of fluoride standard solutions and ionic strength adjusters as per the user manual.
  6. Stir the solution on a stirrer plate using a stir bar.
  7. Place the probe in the solution and wait for it to stabilize before taking the measurement.
  8. After use, rinse the probe with DI water and blot dry with a lint-free cloth. Install the sensor protection cap before storing the probe.

For more detailed instructions, refer to the user manual available on the manufacturer’s website.

Introduction

The probe is a combination fluoride selective electrode with a non-refillable reference and built-in temperature sensor.

Warning
Chemical exposure hazard. Obey laboratory safety procedures and wear all of the personal protective equipment appropriate to the chemicals that are handled. Refer to the current safety data sheets (MSDS/SDS) for safety protocols.

User manual
A user manual with all instructions is on the manufacturer’s website.

Collect the following items:
Compatible meter, Fluoride standard solutions and ionic strength adjusters; beakers, 50 mL; stirrer plate; DI water; stir bars; lint-free cloth.

Connect the probe
Calibration
Air bubbles under the probe tip when submerged can cause slow stabilization or error in measurement. If bubbles are present, gently shake the probe until bubbles are removed.

Measurement (direct method)
Temperatures of calibration standards and samples should be kept within ±2 °C of each other for optimal results.
