Shaver 5000X Series
The Philips Shaver 5000X Series is a waterproof shaver suitable for use in the bath or shower, and for cleaning under the tap. The shaver comes with a USB cable and a USB supply unit, and features a power-on light ring, an on/off button and a battery charge indicator. The shaver also comes with a protective cap, a shaving unit, a shaving unit release button, a shaving unit connector, a socket for small plug, and a trimmer (X5012/05, X5006/05 only).

- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- Do not use the supply unit in or near wall sockets.
Usage Instructions
- Remove the protective cap from the shaver.
- Press the on/off button to turn on the shaver.
- Place the shaving unit on your skin and move it slowly against the direction of hair growth.
- To trim longer hairs, use the trimmer (X5012/05, X5006/05 only).
- After use, rinse the shaving unit under running water to clean it.
- Turn off the shaver and replace the protective cap.
- To charge the shaver, connect the USB cable to the shaver and the USB supply unit.
- Plug the USB supply unit into a power source.
- The battery charge indicator will light up when the shaver is charging.
- When fully charged, the battery charge indicator will turn off.

Warning

To charge the product, only use a certified safety extra low voltage (SELV) supply unit with output rating 5 V, ≥ 1 A. For safe charging in a moist environment (e.g. in a bathroom), only use an IPX4 (splash-proof) supply unit. A suitable supply unit (e.g. Philips HQ87) is available via www.philips.com/support. If you need support finding the correct USB supply unit, contact the Consumer Care Center in your country (see the international warranty leaflet for contact details). Using a non-certified supply unit may cause hazards or serious injuries.- Keep the USB cable and the USB supply unit dry

This shaver is waterproof (Fig. 3). It is suitable for use in the bath or shower and for cleaning under the tap. For safety reasons, the shaver can therefore only be used without cord.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Do not modify the supply unit.

Do not use the supply unit in or near wall sockets
that contain an electric air freshener to prevent irreparable damage to the supply unit. -
Do not use a damaged appliance. Replace damaged parts with new Philips parts.

Because of hygiene, only one person should use the appliance.

Unplug the appliance before cleaning it with water. – Only use cold or lukewarm water to clean the appliance.

Never use compressed air, scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids to clean the appliance.

Water may drip from the socket at the bottom of the shaver when you rinse it. This is normal and not dangerous because all electronics are enclosed in a sealed power unit inside the shaver.

Only use original Philips accessories or consumables. – Charge, use and store the product at a temperature between 41 °F / 5 °C and 95 °F / 35 °C.

Keep product and batteries away from fire and do not expose them to direct sunlight or high temperatures.

If the product becomes abnormally hot or smelly, changes color or if charging takes longer than usual, stop using and charging the product and contact Philips.

Do not place products and their batteries in microwave ovens or on induction cookers.

Do not open, modify, pierce, damage or dismantle the product or battery to prevent batteries from heating up or releasing toxic or hazardous substances. Do not short-circuit, overcharge or reverse charge batteries.
If batteries are damaged or leaking, avoid contact with the skin or eyes. If this occurs, immediately rinse well with water and seek medical care.

Charging
Warning: Keep the USB cable and the USB supply unit dry (Fig. 2).
Fully charge the product before first use and when the display indicates that
the battery is almost empty. Charging takes approx. 1 hour. A fully charged
shaver provides up to 50 minutes of shaving time.
Quick Charge: After approx. 5 minutes of charging, the battery contains enough
energy for one full shave.

Make sure that the appliance is switched off.
-
Insert the small plug of the USB cable into the socket in the bottom of the appliance.
-
Insert the USB plug into the USB supply unit (not provided) (Fig. 4).
-
Insert the USB supply unit into the wall socket (Fig. 5).
The battery indicator starts to flash white (Fig. 6). -
After charging, remove the USB supply unit from the wall socket, pull the USB plug out of the supply unit and then pull the small plug out of the appliance (Fig. 7).
Charge indications

Battery low
When the battery is almost empty, the battery charge indicator flashes orange (Fig. 6). -
Battery charging
While the product charges, the battery charge indicator quickly flashes white (Fig. 8). -
Quick charge
When the battery contains enough energy for one shave, the battery charge indicator starts flashing white more slowly. -
Battery full
When the product is fully charged, the battery charge indicator lights up white continuously. After approx.30 minutes, the lights go out automatically.
Note: This product can only be used without cord
(Fig.9).
‘Unplug before use’ reminder
The battery charge indicator flashes white to remind you to unplug the shaver
first.
Using the product
Always check the product and all accessories before using. Do not use the
product or any accessory if it is damaged, as this may cause injury. Always
replace a damaged part with one of the original type.
Note: This product can only be used without cord.
Removing or attaching the click-on attachments
- Make sure the product is switched off.
- To attach the click-on attachment, insert the lug of the attachment into the slot in the top of the product. Then press down the attachment to attach it to the product (‘click’) (Fig. 10).3 To remove the click-on attachment, twist the attachment and then pull it off the product (Fig.11)..
Shaving
Skin adaptation period
Your first shaves may not bring you the result you expect and your skin may
even become slightly irritated. This is normal. Your skin and beard need time
to adapt to any new shaving system. To allow your skin to adapt to this new
appliance, we advise you to shave regularly (at least 3 times a week) and
exclusively with this appliance for a period of 3 weeks. You can use this
product either wet or dry, or even in the shower.
For a wet shave, apply some water and shaving foam or gel to your skin and rinse the shaving heads under the tap with warm water before following the steps below.

Press the on/off button once to switch on the product (Fig. 12).

Move the shaving heads over your skin in circular movements (Fig. 13) to catch all hairs growing in different directions. Make sure each shaving head is fully in contact with the skin. Exert gentle pressure for a close, comfortable shave.
Note: Do not press too hard, as this can cause skin irritation.
Note: If you are shaving with gel or foam, rinse the shaving unit regularly during your shave to ensure that it continues to glide smoothly over your skin (Fig. 14). -
Use the narrow sides of the shaving unit to shave in hard-to-reach areas such as along your jawline and under your nose (Fig. 15).

Switch off and clean the product after each use (see ‘Cleaning and maintenance’).
Note: Make sure you rinse all foam or shaving gel off the product.
Trimming (X5012/05, X5006/05 only)
- Press the on/off button once to switch on the product (Fig. 12).
- Hold the trimmer perpendicular to the skin and move it downwards while exerting gentle pressure.
- You can also use the trimmer to contour your beard (Fig. 16) and sideburns (Fig. 17).

Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the product and the attachments after each use for optimal performance.
Cleaning the shaver under the tap
Clean the shaver after every shave for optimal performance.
Always check if the water is too hot, to prevent burning your hands.
Never dry the shaving unit with a towel or tissue,as this may damage the
shaving heads.
While rinsing shaving heads, water may drip out of the base of shaver. This
is a normal occurrence.

Press the on/off button once to switch on the product (Fig. 12).

Rinse the shaving unit with cold or lukewarm water (Fig. 14).

Press the on/off button to switch off the product.
Press the release button to open the shaving unit (Fig. 18). -
Rinse the hair chamber under a warm tap (Fig. 19).
-
Rinse the shaving head holder under the tap (Fig.20).
-
Carefully shake off excess water and let the shaving head holder air-dry completely (Fig. 21).
-
Close the shaving unit (Fig. 22).
Thorough cleaning
We advise you to clean the shaving heads thoroughly once a month or when the
shaver does not shave as well as it used to.
Note: The guards of the shaving heads shown in this user manual may
differ from the ones you purchased. The handling is the same.

Make sure that the product is disconnected from the USB cable.
-
Press the on/off button once to switch off the product (Fig. 12).
-
Press the release button on the shaving unit (Fig.18) and pull the shaving head holder off the shaving unit (Fig. 23).

Turn the retaining rings counterclockwise and remove them (Fig. 24).
-
Remove the shaving heads from the shaving head holder. Each shaving head consists of a cutter and guard (Fig. 25).
Note: Do not clean more than one cutter and guard at a time, since they are all matching sets. If you accidentally put a cutter in the wrong shaving guard, it may take several weeks before optimal shaving performance is restored. -
Clean the cutter and guard under the tap (Fig. 26).

Put the cutter back into the guard (Fig. 27).

Place the shaving heads in the shaving head holder (Fig. 28).
Note: Make sure that the projections of the shaving heads fit exactly into the recesses of the shaving head holder. -
Place the retaining rings back onto the shaving head holder and turn them clockwise (‘click’) (Fig.29). – Each retaining ring has two recesses and two projections that fit exactly in the projections and recesses of the shaving head holder.

Reinsert the hinge of the shaving head holder into the slot of the shaving unit (Fig. 30). Close the shaving unit (Fig. 22).
Cleaning the click-on trimmer
(X5012/05, X5006/05 only)
Never dry the trimmer with a towel or tissue, as this may damage the trimming
teeth.
Clean the trimmer after each use.
- Press the on/off button once to switch on the product (Fig. 12).
- Rinse the trimmer with cold or lukewarm water (Fig. 31).
- After cleaning, press the on/button to switch off the product.
- Carefully shake off excess water and let the trimmer air-dry completely (Fig. 32).
- For optimal performance, lubricate the teeth of the trimmer with a drop of mineral oil every six months.
Storage and travel
Put the protection cap on the product (Fig. 33) to protect it from dirt
accumulation. We advise you to let the product dry before you store it.
Travel lock
You can lock the shaver when you are going to travel to prevent it from
switching on accidentally. To activate or deactivate the travel lock, press
the on/off button for 3 seconds. When the travel lock is activated or
deactivated, the power-on light ring flashes three times (Fig. 34).
Note: The appliance unlocks automatically when connected to the wall socket.
Replacement
For maximum shaving performance, we advise you to replace the shaving heads
every two years (Fig. 35). Replace damaged shaving heads immediately. Always
replace the shaving heads with original Philips shaving heads.

Recycling
- This symbol means that electrical products and batteries shall not be disposed of with normal household waste (Fig. 36).
- Follow your country’s rules for the separate collection of electrical products and batteries.
Removal of built-in rechargeable battery
The built-in rechargeable battery must only be removed by a qualified
professional when the appliance is discarded. Before removing the battery,
make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the wall socket and that the
battery is completely empty.
Take any necessary safety precautions when you handle tools to open the
appliance and when you dispose of the rechargeable battery.
When you handle batteries, make sure that your hands, the product and the
batteries are dry.
To avoid accidental short-circuiting of batteries after removal, do not let battery terminals come into contact with metal objects (e.g.coins, hairpins, rings). Do not wrap batteries in aluminum foil. Tape battery terminals or put batteries in a plastic bag before you discard them.
Only remove the battery if it is completely empty.
- Pull the shaving unit off the shaver (Fig. 11).
- Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the top cap of the housing (Fig. 37).
- Remove the screws (Fig. 38).
- Pull the inner parts out of the housing (Fig. 39). If necessary, use a pair of pliers (Fig. 40).
- Remove the battery compartment (Fig. 41) from the housing.
- Wedge a screwdriver or a pair of pliers between the battery and the pins on the frame. Then pry the pins away from the battery to break them (Fig. 42).
- Grab the battery and pull it away from the internal components to break it from the frame (Fig. 43). Caution: be aware of the sharp edges of the battery tabs so as to avoid injury to your fingers.
